I live near that freeway. Further down that part for the freeway there's a turning lane to get onto the other side (U turn maneuver) for the freeway (as well as a right turning lane to get into a National Park). But there isn't much distance from the entrance onto the freeway (as seen on film) and then to get into that turning lane. Also this part for the freeway is 80km/s then 110 further down after the turning lane and petrol stations. So he could possibly be trying to get to the right lane to get ready to go into turning lane? This is just from what I've seen others do along that freeway. I hate it.
Even on the bike I stay in the left lane initially, get a feel for the traffic. If there's any traffic the right lane usually ends up the slowest anyway :) In my experience the left lane is the real fast lane but don't tell anyone.
Yep... but authorities keep putting in speed cameras 'for road safety' . If they were more concerned about actual road safety and less about revanue raising, they'd put in more red light cameras instead.
At this point, there should be a national truck offence authority. Fining not only the drivers also making them take the test again with some independent party.

The bloke in the Ford Ranger's face when he realised the guy he hit cutting in front had a dash cam. Dawning on him slowly that they had him dead to rights. Same as the last bloke, 100% certain that he saw the dash cam.

@erroreliminator2.076 I must be missing something with Crown Valet but I can imagine however he won't survive it Sydney Trains because he cares, he actually tried to stop the trolleys.
Why would they deny his claim? He speeds up because the slower car turns off, and he remains in his own lane. The ute changed lanes without giving way and without indicating either. There is no reason to void the DCs claim.
@@traj7196 How is it right to speed into another car. The other car was in plain view yet he still gave it a thrash and collected it. Any decent insurance company will say hell no to the claim. Every insurance company have investigators that sus out claims to see if the claim is legit. Hopefully this one gets sussed out real good and they tell the cammer to F off.
I'm pretty sure you need to signal for at least 30 metres or several flashes (whilst in front!) before changing lanes. The drivers indicating from behind thinking that's sufficient are idiots.
Well, at the time of the lane change starting, up until the impact with the vehicle that appears to be stolen, they looked to be going faster than the Subaru that moved into the left lane. My guess is they just entered the road from a slip lane, and the Subaru had moved into the right lane to let them enter, before moving back over to let them pass on the correct side. Perfect until the stolen ute showed up and tried to squeeze into a space they didn't fit into.
So I live near that freeway (use use the same damn entrance as seen on footage) and I know further down that part for the freeway, there's a turning lane on the right ride to get onto the other side (U turn maneuver) for the freeway (as well as a right turning lane to get into a National Park). 8:01. I believe you have the same road rules as we do in New Zealand. When turning at an intersection, traffic must give way to pedestrians crossing the road, provided the pedestrians' traffic light is green. That was the case in this situation.
Doesn’t matter if it’s green. If there is a pedestrian crossing the road you have to stop/avoid. Even if they crossed against the light. Obviously if they run out and you don’t have time that’s different. But yeah in this case dude was sleep driving. Pedestrian was lucky.
Best way to reduce traffic jam is to have harsher punishment for obvious traffic violation like if you run a red, straight cancellation of driving license. Easy to implement as a lot of cars have dashcam nowadays and anyone can submit video to authority.
Agree. Once you lose enough points to lose your licence impound the car as well to prevent unlicenced driving. They can get it back when they get their licence back or they sell the car. Might incentivise some drivers to obey the road laws.

Ol mate in the cam car definitely speeds up. Most people do when a slower car in front exits the road and it's clear ahead. They were accelerating before the ute passed, and the ute gave no indication that it wanted to move left, so think the DC was speeding up solely to block the ute is disingenuous

Many commenters are jumping on the DC (dashcam) driver because they accelerated, but they're completely ignoring the reason why they accelerated which I outlined in my first reply. They also ignore just how close the ute was when it changed lanes. This would have been an unsafe change even if the DC didn't speed up. And finally they're commenting as if the DC knew the ute was going to change lanes. Without any indicators or early movement there was no real way anyone could know, and dash cams make things look further away than they truly are giving the impression there's more time and space available.

Even dumber in the wet. But no, much better to lose your car at the panel beaters for a while and cop and insurance excess. Dumb as a post.
When changing lanes it's not just about who is beside you it is also who is likely to pass you. The Lexus slapped on his indicator and moved across. That is not a safe lane change. Any insurance company would see it in favour of the DC as the Lexus didn't give him enough time to react and make room, and then proceeded to brake check the DC
They were in the lane for a full five seconds before the hit and there's a red light with stopped traffic just ahead, cammer should've been on the brakes already by then anyway. The brake check was not cool though.
I don't think that is what happened here. Lexus brake checked. DCer definetly could have and should have slowed down and created distance but I don't think we can say for sure that he didn't do that out of spite. He could just be a bad driver who assumed that the Lexus would come to a slow stop behind the stopped cars ahead instead of creating a safe distance immediately. Or maybe it was spite, who knows.

There could have been an altercation beforehand and maybe DCer wasn't giving space to the truck but was actually intentionally slowing down the corolla but I think the other narrative explains everything just fine and it's all we've got to go on given where the footage starts.

10:13 why do you want to get on to the right hand side lane as soon as you get on a freeway? you need to do a licence test buddy
I live near that freeway. Further down that part for the freeway there's a turning lane to get onto the other side (U turn maneuver) for the freeway (as well as a right turning lane to get into a National Park). This is just from what I've seen others do along that freeway. I hate it.
Also sometimes you know the left lanes are going to bank up with exiting and merging traffic. So moving over makes sense.
He seemed surprised old mate kept going. You don't have to be very smart to realise he wasn't stopping.
Even on the bike I stay in the left lane initially, get a feel for the traffic. If there's any traffic the right lane usually ends up the slowest anyway :) In my experience the left lane is the real fast lane but don't tell anyone.
Plenty of space in the right lane behind the car in the collision and the one immediately after. Just needed the patience to wait for the gap.

Or maybe it was spite, who knows.
if you check the speed, the DCer hit the car at 20km, which indicates that the DCer had slowed down when the car was merging in front but wasn't expecting the yellow car to brake suddenly. sometimes the speed that is shown is not in real time but is delayed.
