  • Lap 4/6:
    First lap with ESP disconnected - Freedoooom! :D
    Unfortunately the only way we could think of, to disable it was to disconnect an ABS sensor;
    This meant that the ABS went as well, which made for really poor brakes, that would lock up a lot.
    The ABS/ESP system would sometimes still interfere on the front axle , which made braking even more sketchy. A step back in confidence, but at least now the car was free and FUN in the corners :)

    My first time in 3 years on the legendary Nordschleife - Good to be back!
    Having only driven the ring in my beloved old Fiat Panda 1.2 with 60 Hp (and my Eunos Roadster in granny pace), the extra power in my 100HP made a really big difference! The 6 speed box was really well spaced for the ring as well, which helped a lot to pull me and my friend up the hills - combined weight for us is around 215kg :)
    The car:
    2007 Fiat Panda 100HP 1.4 16v with 227.000 km, but still going strong.
    Almighty annoying ESP system, slowing us down.
    185/55R15 Continental ContiEcoContact - slowing us down :D
    The eco tyres were an attempt to lower the grip enough, to make the ESP system leave me alone - it didn´t work. We deactivated it later by unplugging an ABS sensor.
    Because of the high tyre profile, the car is 5% higher geared than with the standard 195/45R15 fitment.
    Camera setup:
    Main camera: LG V40 107* wide angle lens on homemade wooden mount on 3 chassis points.
    Rear camera: Xperia SP
    Foot camera: Sony AZ-1 Action cam 170* lens.

    disconnecting steering wheel position sensor disables the stability control but keeps the abs working

      Thanks, tried that, but the servo then went away as well. I have cut a black wire to the "gyro" box between the seats now, and soldered in a switch, and that works.

    Totalt iorden nice videoer!!! :) Hvordan er bremseperformance i Pandaen? Kan du holde temperaturen nede? - Vi var dernede i en Seat Mii (alt standard) som blev kørt mildere end du gør her, og der var bremserne allerede ret så varme ved ex-mühle... 😂👍

      Med ESP slået til, blev bagbremserne stinkende varme, men da vi først fik slået det skidt fra (ABS'en røg i samme omgang desværre), var der ingen problemer. Bremserne blev selvfølgelig stadig godt varme, men ikke så varme at de lugtede, ligesom ESP'en var skyld i. Jeg kunne også have bremset hårdere, men var lidt forsigtig uden ABS, så hvem ved?
      Væsken var skiftet lige inden, som I min erfaring har ret stor betydning, og skiver og klodser var næsten nye, så det funkede egentlig ret godt.
      Det er da fedt, hvis det gik for Up'en helt til ex-mühle, som jo er det laveste punkt. Derfra er der jo heller ikke langt til bergwerk, hvorfra de kan køle af hele vejen til karussellen - så du er der da så godt som :)

    Have you tried to disconnect the Steering position sensor? I read that disables the ESP fully but I have not tried it yet on my Car. But when I do hard launches the ESP sometimes even stalls the engine and when oversteering the rear brakes engage and straighten the car out in a weird way causing massive understeer so yeah, ESP makes it even more unpredictable to drive.

      I don't know where the sensor is located, so I haven't tried it, but maybe I will. (Is it somewhere on the steering column?)
      I'm also a bit afraid of messing with the steering to be honest, because the electric servo can be fragile on the Pandas, and are expensive and a pain to change.
      Another option that should work, is to cut the black wire (earth) to the yaw sensor. Haven't tried that either though.
      ESP as a safety feature, is reasonable, but not being able to turn it off when tracking the car, is a pain and definitely kills the fun.

    PS. Man kan få et Abarth Alu Pedalsæt der passer til den hvor man kan vende speeder pedalen på to måder. Std. eller smal afstand.
    Den smalle afstand gør det nemmere at give gas under nedbremsninger

      Jeg endte med selv at lave bremsepedalen bredere. Hvis jeg gør speederen bredere, kommer mit knæ mere til venstre, og det kniber desværre nok i forvejen at få mine lange stænger fri af rattet :)

    umiddelbart må der være en yaw sensor eller en styr input sensor man kan unplugge i forhold til at skille sig af med ESP men bibeholde ABS med.
    Men I må få jer nogle bedre dæk på den.
    Jeg kører Advan AD08RS på min 100 HP som er ok til den, og ellers tænker jeg at R4R eller EVN måske kan levere den størrelse 15'ere

      Ja, hvis jeg bare vidste hvor den sad. Jeg har kigget under sæder osv. Jeg har en bange anelse om at den er del af ABS boksen, men jeg ved det ikke. Bedre dæk er helt sikkert en god plan. Den enste grund til øko-dækkene var at ESP'en ville lade mig være langt mere i fred - det virkede på Padborg park, men den bakkede Nordschleife var den på ingen måde tosset med.

      Yaw sensor fundet! Den ligger under midterkonsollen ved håndbremsen. Desværre går servostyringen når man tager stikket - og selvfølgelig også ESP, og sikkert også ABS'en. Det blev lidt mere kildent end håbet...

      @@testacorsa150 Ah ja. Det påvirker selvfølgelig også styringen.
      ABS kan man teste på vådt græs hvis det endelig er.
      Så skal man finde en der kan mappe det ud af bilen. Men det bliver nok mindst lige så kildent

    With semi slicks, the oem size brakes will go off very soon. Tried it @hungaroring.

      There is a video on youtube, with a dude doing a 9:30 with semi slicks, and he has no problems with brakes. The nürburgring isn't too hard on brakes, as long as you don't have too much power i.e. speed.
