  • Lap 6/6:
Last lap of the trip, which became my new personal best :)
I gave it all that I dared, and I only had a few "issues" with traffic.
Still no ESP, and still no ABS, which gave me a pretty scary lock up in miss-hit-miss (4:10)
This video should have been up much sooner, and I had a lot planned for it, as sort of a tribute to my little Fiat and the Nürburgring. I dropped finishing the intro, but I did get a little "personal best" celebration thing done, when crossing the gantry at the end, so I hope someone other than me will watch it, as I spent more time on it than I care to admit, lol.
    Hi-lighted speedo in the middle; 12 o'clock is 120 km/h
Top speed was approx. 190 km/h, 5 km/h down to the previous 195 km/h in Fuchs röhre. The car was on 95 RON on this lap - and not 102 like the others, which to my surprise, actually made a small difference in the higher revs.
Average speed from bridge to gantry was 120 km/h.
Edited in VSDC - capable, but equally fiddly and frustrating software.

My first time in 3 years on the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife - Good to be back!
Having only driven the ring in my beloved old Fiat Panda 1.2 with 60 Hp (and my Eunos Roadster in granny tempo), the extra power in my 100HP made a really big difference! The 6 speed box was really well spaced for the ring as well, which helped a lot to pull me and my friend up the hills - combined weight for us is around 215kg :)
    The car:
2007 Fiat Panda 100HP 1.4 16v with 227.000 km, but still going strong.
Almighty annoying ESP system, slowing me down.
185/55R15 Continental ContiEcoContact - slowing me down :D
The eco tyres were an attempt to lower the grip enough, to make the ESP system leave me alone - it didn´t work. I deactivated it by lap 4 by unplugging the R.R. ABS sensor.
Because of the high tyre profile, the car is 5% higher geared than with the standard 195/45R15 fitment.
    Camera setup:
Main camera: LG V40 107* wide angle lens on homemade wooden mount on 3 chassis points.
Rear camera: Good old Sony Xperia SP
Foot camera: Sony AZ-1 Action cam 170* lens.
    I ♥ der ring!

Great video - you pushed harder than I would have on such skinny rims and tyres 👌.

Cool job! Just a bit too much braking but nice!

great time and very brave you are pushing on the limit! However I would go to a tech garage and go into the software to disable the ESP permanently. Also get some 195/45 R15 original Good Year F1 tyres which Good YEar still produce and have changed compund recently to be as upto date as their other tyres. Then post a time!

Thanks for the compliment and for your input.
The tyres were horrible, and old, and are now replaced, but with 195/50R15 kumho hs52's. The higher profile due to both price and comfort. The hs52's because I loved them on my mx5.
I just figured out how to disable the ESP last week, and I have soldered in a switch. I don't know if I will ever go for it as much as I did on this lap, but at least it will feel so much better and safer with ABS next time 🙂

@@testacorsa150 your lower profile (than before) and newer tyres, plus the added ABS will surely make the car more safe and faster on the lap. Well done anyway! Chassis is very stiff compared to my much older Alfa from the 1970s, and I think the Panda 100hp chassis and suspension setup is better than the Fiat 500 Abarth one, even if it has a tjet engine

@@cbca6567 Yeah, I think it will help the car too, and I'm looking forward to going again in August - and thanks again 😊
The Panda chassis is definitely not bad, but the suspension kinda sucks, especially the rear axle. If it was allowed in Denmark, i would have switched to a KA/late 500 rear axle to get an anti roll bar, to maybe cure some of the massive understeer.
It will never be a fast car, but it's still good fun :)
I really envy your classic alfa. One of the best onboards I have ever seen was some classic race from the ring. The racing was so close and on the edge, and the old Giulia was tossed around on the limit, and it seemed like it loved it, lol.
Sadly I can't find that video anymore.

@@testacorsa150 thanks for your reply and complements! I agree the rear axle is the weak point, but for the road it is fine. For track yeah needs something better. It is not so fast that you cannot use all the power most of the time. Regarding the Alfa i own a transaxle alfetta, but its chassis is very soft despite excellent 50/50 weight distribution, low unsprung weight with inboard rear discs and front torsion bars. The race cars were welded and supported with braces and rollcages for the chassis. Anyhow it was much better than anything in its class in the 70s.

@@cbca6567 Such a pretty car, but a shame about the soft chassis, I didn't know that. Seam welding to the rescue - big job though. Nerver had an alfa, let alone a classic one. Hope to some day!
