This video couldn't have come at a better time. I appreciate your professionalism, the context of the content, and the production. Man..., Xmas time, sales all over the place, and a new hobby to get into with the kids-yep, let's go 5M Pro! The filtration, enclosure, and the built-in camera sold me. I feel more comfortable knowing I'm at least trying to take air quality precautions as much as possible. Getting access to more designs and having less chance of failed prints thanks to the temperature-controlled environment-yep, let's add that enclosure, for sure. The camera is a plus; I can see what's going on, and if something isn't right, I could save the print. I feel solid in my choice. Thank you again for the informative video. Keep up the good work, sir. 👍
The 5m is a PLA/PETG pro with a enclosure! I own both, the 5m Pro is no louder than the fridge running at idle. I have never had a jam with the 5pro with .6 nozzle. With a .4 nozzle on the 5m I've only had jams with 3 yr old tri color silk pla. I loved the process of personalization with the 5m. I admit it was a process longer but I made it my own and I spread the money over weeks. Purple Elmer's glue stick fixed any bed adhesion issues. Both units are just workhorses, dependable. This is a great video.
My 5M non Pro with the printed enclosure kit is very quiet. That "fan always on" was fixed a couple of firmware updates ago. Ive printed everything from PLA, PETG,Silk,TPU and no issues. I use a spray of hairspray on the bed and everything sticks fine
I just have the 5M pro for a few days and it works good, but today I got some problems with extruding PLA, sometimes it will not print and you hear the gears turning but nothing coming out. Yes, I already found a solution on the FlashGuard page. But I would like to ask if you can make a video about using the nozzle unclogging pin and maybe a little bit more advanced maintenance. I think more people would really appreciate it! Thanks for making these video's, very helpful!
Love the video. Very thorough. The way you covered on how to make the 5M kinda be like the pro and the cost and mint! Good job man. Got a subscribe from me!
😁Superb video on the Adventurer 5M! As an avid 3D printer fan, I gotta say my heart belongs to the Flashforge AD5M Pro.👍 It’s just perfect for printing epic creations and then some! You might wanna give it a spin, champ! Keep up the great content! 🚀🖨👏
My son is 14 and really interested in 3D printing and has done some at school. We're trying to decide on what one to get him and these are our top contenders right now. Which would you recommend?
There's more to the DIY. Because DIY is a great way to learn more about printing, The saving money part is less important than the experience of making something that you use.
Just got my adm5pro a week ago, honestly, couldn’t more happy and impressed! I’ve had creality printers my entire printing “career” lol, and they are just so slow compared to this beast, fastest I was able to get my ender 3 pro and cr10v3 was 60mm/s and I thought that was fast, and now creality discontinued replacements for these models. Getting side tracked lol, invest the extra $120 or so and get the 5m pro if you can, get the best possible you can afford.
I've had both at my disposal. There was some issues with 5m. My girlfriend had constant issues with the 5m. Constantly having to go to printer and reconnect it to wifi. Eventually the ptfe tube and power cord dropped behind print head when it would go to home. Constant slicer remote printing issues. And the fan cover on printhead magnets failed . We then got the pro and haven't had any of those issues. Although it changed its IP address by one digit out of nowhere the other day. So far handles PLA, PETG, asa, PLA cf flawlessly. Just trying to find a way to access and adjust it's TimeLapse settings. The app on the flashforge website works great with it as well.
5m pro it is... need the enclosure out of the box. Im not trying to play around with making an enclosure as a beginner in the hobby. I just want to drag and drop my files and print them... no hasle, no agrivation, no problem. Time is valuable. Im more concerned with my final product with the printed pieces which are only a part of the final product...
I'm from another country and in local reviews I saw the basic 5m and thought "-Hmm, it's cheaper than the Creality k1c, and also a cool experience with upgrading." Honestly, it's really cool, but now I'd rather take the Pro version, because I don't want to waste time on a workhorse. Oh yeah, they released the AD5X, which has a multi-color loading system, and it's like the best deal on the market right now. Wait reviews
I'm jumping in to say I have the Adventurer 3 Lite, the little brother of the 5M. I've had various printers over the past 4 or 5 years, FDM & MSLA. FDM is by far the easiest in every aspect. MSLA stinks & requires multiple stages to clean & cure, some involve chemicals which also stink. The FEP film needs replacing more often than my underpants & trouble shooting failed prints is a nightmare coz you can't see when it goes wrong/if it goes wrong until it's left a hard blobby mess on the build plate & the FEP film! I've ordered a 5M Pro for the following reasons: I need a bigger build area. I have a FlashForge printer already & it has been faultless. The enclosed unit with air filtration will reduce any odour to minimal. Quick change nozzles is a game changer. Filament change that doesn't retract from the hot end but extrudes A VERY SMALL AMOUNT of the remaining filament as you load the new filament prevents messy clogging, blockages & extra maintenance.
I did mine in all PLA. It has been fine, but I have not tried ASA or ABS that need higher temps in it. So the PLA may have issues there. I leave it closed for all my PLA and PETG prints so that it is quieter.
Worked fine for mine. It's not a perfect fit, but close. Like, the filament sensor that mounts to the printed spool arm isn't long enough so there's some alignment issue there. Material wouldn't change that.
Is it possible to add some of these features to the cheaper one as i need them like the heated enclosure. Im just getting started and i dont want to spend 500 on one yet but dont want to get a new one that doesnt make a massive difference later.
The enclosure on the 5M Pro is passively heated. If you print the enclosure on the 5M, you'd get similar benefits. However adding the extra ventilation fan is more tricky and may not be worth the extra work. At this point, you may want to look into the AD5X since it supports multicolor/multi-material printing as well.
Doesn't the Pro come with a .06 nozzle? What about features in the firmware? I thought that the Pro had more such as input shaping etc... great video, but I think you missed a may have missed a few things....
The Pro does come with a 0.6 nozzle. The firmware is virtually identical to the 5M outside of Pro-specific features such as light and fan control. They both run a modified version of Klipper and both include vibration calibration (input shaping) and PID calibration.
I have had an old Adventurer 4 for years now, looking to upgrade. Also have always wanted to get into flex-filaments like TPU - I know the specs say it's rated to print this material, but has anyone actually tried it? Any non-stock mods you have to buy to make it possible? (or is one or the other better for this?)
On Amazon, the 5M Pro is now $469.00 now. So doing all of that to the 5M would basically be just as expensive with all of the engineering falling on me to do lol
Didn't realize the enclosure kit is now available on Amazon, thanks for mentioning that. Pretty crazy that the fan on the 5M Pro just keeps going. Weird.
I have the enclosure kit I'd say it's well worth it but print it out of Pet-G NOT PLA I reprinted mine after it warped I can now print ABS but I still need to cover it with a towel to heat up properly I don't print ABS I just wanted to try, I stick to Pet-G mostly
I have the enclosure, very happy with it I would have bought the Pro though if I was to do it again But Loving my flashforge when it sticks lol I found glue to be essentially useless The only thing I miss from the Pro is the camera
With $180 and 400g of filament I was able to fully enclose my 5M in a way that's more stylish and personalized than the 5m pro. I'm a professional artist/maker so I already have tons of crazy thick plexiglass (acrylic) on hand. After buying a used-Like-new 5M for 180 bucks on e-bay it only took about 400g of filament to make everything that would secure the acrylic panels. I remixed "Kincoop"s "minimal enclosure" design from printables per my own needs and put it all together. I love it! After years of fixing and heavily modding an original Ender 3 from 2018, this enclosure was a cakewalk... and I'm a complete dingus lol. If you're comfortable doing moderate DIY projects you can save literally hundreds with the non pro - it's worth looking into!
Got lucky andngot my AD5M for $110 so doing the enclosute upgrade is still a lot cheaper than a Pro for me. Also got a free PETG roll from Creality in a give away I am using towards the enclosure so even more of a saving
1 is way more overpriced than the other lol, for $500 you can get a Q1 pro that's bigger better faster and has a heated chamber and it's less than $500 the pro version is complete waste of money I will never recommend that printer to anyone.
@@juliusvalentinas no it does not have a heated chamber it may somewhat heat the chamber from the bed and the nozzle heating up but no way keep it up to temp, and why would you want to pay more money for less features smaller bed size it makes no sense....
I'm sorry but saying you can print an enclosure for the 5M is false. You showed a few bits in a bag that you'd printed, they required filament & electricity to produce. You then said you need to spend $40 to get screws & panels! You didn't print the screws & panels so you can't print an enclosure. Your maths didn't include the cost of the electricity to print all the parts can you please factor that in.

Can't you rewire the fan cables to the front switch, which would solve your issue? Unless still under warranty and don't want to jeopardize that?

Why is the enclosure for the 5m recommended to be printed in PETG?
PETG has better heat resistance compared to PLA.
