- Finesse fishing is by far the most productive technique for catching "numbers" of bass. In this episode, I break down exactly what gear I use and have tried over the years of fishing a Ned Rig. The Ned Rig is an ultra finesse technique, however I've witnessed its big fish capability. I hope this break down helps you decide what works best for you. If you haven't already, please SUBSCRIBE!

Great job Andrew.
Thank you, Andrew! Very informative!
Thanks for watching!
Another great instructional video. Your videos are like taking an advanced class in fishing. I look forward to everyone one of them. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks Jeffrey! That’s exactly what I try to do.
very informative
Thanks Tyler!
Great stuff Andrew....... Thank you for sharing.....!!!!
Thanks Kendall!
Great breakdown of the Ned rig!
Thanks Michael!
I always really enjoy your vids Andrew, and one reason why is that you always give honest opinions. It's always nice when you talk gear and you give your first choice and then more economical choices. God bless you and yours!
Thanks Martin. I try to make it affordable for all.
Thanks for the breakdown. I just started trying the setup for Ned rig and this helps to have the best setup. Cool video!!!
Absolutely. Thanks for watching!
Loved the video as well as how you present the information and what you like and don’t like based on your experience. Catch a lot of fish with these year round. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the kind words, Harry!
Love the video! Subbed and smashed the like button
Heck yea!
Great video thanks I learned some tips
Thanks for watching Jonah!
Thanks, Bill.
Love the Lews product!!! I just bought a mach pro combo and can't wait to get to the water with it.
Good video
Thanks!
The EWG Ned Heads are a game changer for sure!
I’ve heard good things
Andrew as always thanks for the help with the Ned rig set up. I am fishing this rig more and more on Clearlake and need to build my confidence. Keep up the training videos and demonstrate how to fish with this set up. This would close the loop on the entire package
Steve
That should be the next video in the series!
my favorite go2 setup....n my favorite angler 2follow. What a gr8 combo....
Thanks Arturo!!!
Good video!! I’ve been using the rage tail ned bait,,Bama craw. Good success so far this summer.
Heck yea man!
Very informative video as always Andrew. Love your honesty in your videos. I definitely will try what you have suggested for the U.S. OPEN tourney this year at Lake Mead. Being a backwater I need to get comfortable throwing this rig. Thanks
I'm mean a backseater.
For sure. It’s extremely effective at Mead. I’ve caught some really good ones there on it.
One of the best fish catching Ned Rig setups is taking a Berkley 7" ribbon tail worm and cutting it down to leave 2" on the body end then rigging it on a Ned Head! Absolute $$$$$. Try it.
That’s old school ned rigging there
That strike king ned cutter is awesome especially swimming it.
Agreed
Andrew, great video - explaining differences in ned tackle and what your opinion is on what u like and dont like, what works/doesnt work for you. The whole elaztech myth u explained was informative to me, because I fall into elaztech only baits, now i will be more open to use my roboworm and missile baits ned worms i purchased. And of course now I have to buy some ned ochos to try since u explained about profiles! This was a great topic for me because i fish the ned rig regularly and I learned some good stuff here from you. I picked some good tips too from some of your other viewers who left some comments :)
Maybe you could do a series of finesse fishing videos like this one (drop shot, shakey head, neko and any others i didnt name? The whole discussion of the tackle, baits, how to fish it, best time to fish it, location etc. and if u get a chance hit the water and show us.
I’ll see what I can do buddy!!
I love the ned rig and i had those same strike king ned heads but here in virginia u can not what so ever fish an exposed hook theres way to much brush, and trees and rocks but i have alot of sucess on the weedless zman ned head it just looks like a super finesse texas rig and boy does it get bit our lake has smallmouth, spots and largemouth and all 3 love it i use the trd tickler or the ned ocho and a sukoshi bug and all 3 are amazing and ive had the most success here with greenpumpkin orange it shows up really good in our water as well as brown/purple or amber
No doubt. I’m a huge fan of weedless neds, which is the main reason SK came out with one. Night and day difference around cover.
Day in and day out my most confident ned bait is definitely the baby ztoo. That bait is 🔥and also a baby tube bait
It’s really good🔥
Another awesome vid Andrew! I do agree with you on the TRD when it comes to not able to add scent. However the flipside, I can easily get 10-20 fish on one bait without needing to feel I need to change. I’ve also learned while it’s not ideal and you have to be careful, you can dip the tail of TRD in JJ Magic, but you have to do it really fast. I learned the hard way using their crawZ and the pinchers fall off. LOL And it doesn’t always work well and the plastic gets sticky too. I totally agree that the Ocho Ned is an awesome bait with this sent it comes with. I also could not agree more with the gear set up you discussed. God bless!
Thanks for watching Mike. I’ve heard you can slightly change the color, but I like mine bright chart. Just personal preference honestly. But yea; I learned the hard way a few times melting plastic😂
It always comes down to Strike King. $$$$$$$$
Can’t stand the Z-man ned head. Ready for try strike king one to hit the shelves. You’re looking a little rough, I got the remedy, come down and do some kayak fishing. Great video!
Thanks buddy. I agree!😂
Yes Sir
Thanks man!
Great content man! Like the rhino head a lot. Just wanted to point out the zman u called the pro is actually the nedlock head, the pro series is kinda in between them as far as hook thickness and in between there power and finesse sizes. Thanks for the video
Thanks for clarifying Dan. We just always called it the pro head for some reason lol .
@@AndrewUpshawFishing thanks for the great content, keep it up please! I just picked up that Mag hammer rod from ur suggestion on another video and I love it!
Andrew I’d like to pick your brain on fishing the ned rig in Florida. It’s hard to fish it with all the grass and I don’t really see anyone else fishing it. Briefly what can you tell me about where and when to fish the ned rig. I live in Orlando between Kissimmee and the Harris Chan. Great video keep them coming and congrats on kicking butt at Clear Lake. Great interview on the BTL also.
So, Florida is a strange place for it, but still a place that you can do it. Z-Man just came out with a little bullet jighead that has a wide gap hook on it. I would use that honestly. Rig it up with a Ned Ocho, black, june bug, or red bug and fish it around grass. The lighter the head, the better. You can also up size your line to 10lb comfortably there. And thank you for the kind words!
you can tell your a strike king guy and always lean to there products but I still enjoy your opinion.
Totally agree with changing zman after awhile, they do tear and in my opinion effect its presentation ,its not "in your head". Any secret tips to getting a ned head unhung in rocks? Thanks in advance
I wish I was good at it! 😂🤷♂️
Them zman shrooms heads arent great now that there are competition out. The paint comes off in one cast, I've broken more in half than I care to admit.
I got a few of the Ned Ocho $2.50 packs from Walmart. Comes with like 6 ochos and 2 ned heads and I swear I'm not turning back. Them things are amazing. Cumberland pro lures makes my favorite Ned head. You can't tear em up.
That's awesome man! I'm glad you like them!
What dyes do you use to imitate the shad and crawfish?
I use orange for crawfish. I don’t use a dye for Shad, but will use Shad scent.
@@AndrewUpshawFishing Thank you, I presumed orange for the crawfish and scent for the shad but just didn't want to assume. I enjoy your videos and the highs and lows. Keep the faith and grinding it out.
What technique works best with the ned. I've caught them swimming it along the bottom. But it seems when I dead stick it or hop it I cant buy a bite
That will come in another video, but basically I use three retrieves. Swim, drag, and deadsticked
Cant wait for the next video. Love your videos. I'm from the Tulsa area so you know the fishing in my area better than most.
Do you ever use craws, creatures, tubes, or flukes?
I do, but that will come in my advanced Ned Rig video. Just too much info for one video.
I see you have the older lews gold spinning reel...still the smoothest spinning reel theyve made in my opinion...i dont like the new custom pro very much
That thing is bullet proof. I was a big fan. I really like the new custom pro too though.
What leader length from braid to flourcarbon on these
I use about double my rod length. So 12 to 14'.
With everyone thing going on In the fishing industry what if bass started 2 more open divisions a northern and western then broke down elites into say 2 60 boat divisions left the classic the same maybe add 10 boats and then have a championship between the top 20 in each division.
That would be really cool!
Put the Lews reel on a ducket rod you talking about magic
I bet it’s good with it. I’ve heard good things about their rods.
Dying the tell on the strike king baits sounds like it would be the deal for me around here I’ll be picking me up and trying it
You will see a difference!
How do you make this video and forget about Googan’s rattlin’ ned smh 🤦🏻♂️
Never fished it honestly
Heck you even use super glue on your lips 🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂
