Good information. I just got back from a fishing trip last week and we caught a lot of smallmouth on the Ned rig. We also caught largemouth and spotted. We were pleasantly surprised the wire weed guards did not interfere with hooking fish but did help us avoid getting hung in brush and rocks.
You talk a lot about drag. I've heard that you set the drag to 25% of the test so on 6lb it would be set to 1.5lb is that good enough on a Medium Light Fast Action rod? Or do you bring it down to like 1lb? Thanks in advance :)
I never check my drag that way. I simply grab the line and pull down towards the vicinity of the reel (bending the rod). If it gives a little bit, but still has strong resistance, that's about right.
Arturo Valenzuela For me, any color so long as it is green. When I start catching fish, I change colors to see what may work better but invariably Green succeeds the most.

I would choose the Mushroom Head Jig over another type. I fish around Rocks along a dam area in a Reservoir, that holds Bass All Year. I want to improve my skills in fishing & catch more fish per outing. Thanks Again for the Information & Video.

I am planning on using a setup of a 6’6 Light Power Fast Action spinning rod with a 2500/30 5.2-6.0:1 gear ratio reel and 8# test fluorocarbon. What do you think? I am targeting only Sm/Lg mouth Bass.
Just wanted to give you an update. I haven’t mastered finesse worming but I have definitely gained tremendous confidence in the techniques. I have caught more bass this year than ever before and several PBs. I changed my setup a little to a 6’0-6’6 Medium Power Fast Action rod paired with 5.1:1-6.2:1 reel. I’ve been fish shallow along the banks in 1 foot to 8 foot of water. Skipping under overhangs and docks is my new favorite technique.
Depends, if u are fishing in heavy cover you do need 65lb and heavy rods. But hey if u can pull a bass out of heavy cover with a medium light rod, more power to you.
piaoliang the heavy rod and line is for pulling fish out of cover, plus if you Texas rig a soft plastic, that long stiff rod will help to drive the hook through the lure and into the bass’s mouth

Wonder what that thing mimicks? No. It is not at 45° angle. I use 37° angle over my left shoulder.

This sounds like a good follow-up bait to a whopper plopper or a crank bait.

This is easily the bait I have the most confidence in. I've caught so many nice sized bass (largemouth & smallmouth) with the Ned rig.

The lightest the wind will allow you to maintain contact with it. Usually around 1/8oz is a good starting point.

I recommend a 7', Med power, fast action rod. 8# test fluorocarbon is a great choice.

Good advice. I cant stand bass anglersj with stiff heavy rods and 65 lb braid, hunting 1 lb fish. Its trully comical.
