Yes, I like this kind of dog and I think it's my favorite of all my lifetime of dogs (golden retriever, Great Dane, fox terrier, collie). Her one fault is she is not dog-friendly and barks at dogs. We work on it but it doesn't seem to be totally curable.
Thanks, Seth! It is fun to be able to do some adventuring while also recovering. I am still working towards a "normal walk" that doesn't make my other hip sore. Funny how the body continues to compensate.
Such a nice, relaxing video Rachel! Millie looked like she enjoyed herself too. Well, minus the owls of course🙂. Oh and great to hear the music back for meal time! Love it! Just love it! Your videos are such a joy to be watch! You do such a great job. Your delivery and way of speaking is just so calming and pleasant. Keep up the great work. I know how time consuming making these videos can be but I for one really appreciate the work you put into them. Take care Rachel and speedy recovery with the knee. Looks like you’re healing up just fine. Looking forward to your next adventure!🙂
Hello from the Mad River Valley, Vermont......just over the hill from " the Res". The Waterbury Reservoir is actually a pretty busy place in season. Cheers!
That area astounds me with how many choices are there. I want to find some cross country skiing around there this winter. I suppose those big fields in Stowe are easy to ski after fresh snow.
Love the sounds of the nature! I cook corn over the campfire all the time except I don't use foil. Just in the husk on the grate. The husk will burn and turn black but the corn is perfection ❤
Thanks for the tip. I want to try it like that. I think I will try it on my backyard fire and see how I do. As for the nature sounds, I agree and feel that is one of the most important factors to me enjoying my trip.
Love your videos. You inspired me to do some hiking, camping and some lakes in my kayak...going solo this year. I used to be afraid to do anything solo and if friends could not go, I would not go. You rock. Thanks for putting these together. I hike in North Georgia...but I believe New Hampshire may be the hardest state to hike in. Take care! Kathy
That is awesome! I hope you are loving it. Once in a while, I look around the amazing nature and think "This is so great that maybe somebody else should be here with me." And sometimes they will be - but for the days when it's solo - It's still amazing! It's like you and you. It's like you're taking your internal voice on vacation.
Yes. Being outside on the trail is where I am most happy. I moved to South GA to be closer to grandchildren, but I go to the mountains to hike and camp now every chance I get...but until I saw your videos I would not go solo. My inner voice says I am not really alone. It is very peaceful. God's creation is so beautiful.
Hello Rachael I'm new to you channel. For other remote canoe/kayak destinations in VT see Groton State Forest. IMHO less visited may appeal to what you are looking for. Keep paddling with you pup. Thanks for posting this video.
Since the cost of going out to eat continues to rise, I've decided learning to cook better foods is the key to happiness. So the extra ingredients and cooking gadgets are a way of exploring how to improve my food experience.
Glad you had that wonderful Adventure. As usual it was a great video. Looks like your dog really enjoyed it. See you next time hopefully your knee will be a lot better😊
Thanks. It was the kind of adventure that is hard but two days after being home, I want to go again. I am home thinking of all the people at all the places having their Labor Day adventures!
What a beautiful location. I love the reflection of the sky in the water right in the beginning of the video. Amazing too, how you are still shooting video while getting back into the kayak. omg 😝 That's good they got you a better site. I wonder if they do any fishing there.
I have four comments: 1) that looked like some fancy ramen noodles 2) you should bring a small fishing rod; I bet there is some great fishing in those lakes you kayak in 3) dessert looked amazing 4) nice to see Millie again (except in that mud....)
Thanks! Your trip in Europe looks epic, by the way! As for fishing... I like fishing in theory but then when it comes to hooks and catching the actual fish, I don't think I will do it. Sometimes I watch fishing TH-cam videos and the fish are so beautiful. But I close my eyes when they take the fish out of the water and deal with the hook.
@@RachelWhelton i hardly catch any fish but it’s fun to try. So you are one of the 4 people that watch my videos…..I dont edit or do anything fancy like yours. Just publish in my tent at night for me to rewatch. Good luck with the knee. I had a foot injury for two yrs and didn’t hike. That’s why I started biking. Still like hiking better though. Less cars and people around.
@@pgreenx I don't always watch them but sometimes I do - but I at least see them coming up in the feed so it's like a little news bulletin of where you are riding. Lately I've been watching OTR History of Food.
Thanks! The knee is doing well. Now I go to Physical Therapy only once per week. They have me doing a lot of stretching and exercises to build the leg back to normal power.
Is that the Soul Kitchen table I spy? Maybe it's the smaller one? I picked up the Soul Kitchen table this season and it's been a real treat in a number of scenarios. Looks like a great trip you had. :)
Big Agnes Woodchuck table. They do also make a larger one. I've had it for years but seldom find the right use for it. Great design. I love well designed gear!
@@RachelWhelton Yes, the woodchuck is the smaller of the two. I've been considering replacing my Helinox chair with the Big Agnes one, as I like how their design doesn't use plastic hubs (which will eventually be the point of failure). Our tables use the same hubless design. Good stuff!
@@GetUpTheMountains I keep my eyes open for the occasional sales on the cool stuff. It's a pleasure to use something that feels like a piece of the future. In the old days, they didn't have such things as headlamps! So I can imagine the first people to get a headlamp felt pretty happy about it.
Fantastic trip Rachel! Jealous. We are at the same speed. Thanks for keeping it real. Questions regarding Millie as I have a Maltese boy I would love to take out on a paddle. Was this Millie's first paddle and camp? She seemed to take it all in stride.
Over the years, Millie has occasionally sat on the kayak, either on dry land or on a bit of water. Even a few minutes of exposure seems to teach them how it works. During my knee injury, I couldn't walk her so she seemed to forget some basics like how not to pull on the leash. So during August I started taking her on very short walks and very short car trips, to let her remember how it works. We visited the Cape a week or two before this trip and she was able to take a 5 minute kayak ride with me down there. The biggest help is letting her stand on the mat for traction, which gives her confidence. I got her sunglasses but she doesn't want to wear them. Sometimes I put some water on her to keep her from overheating. This was the longest trip ever for her and she did well and even seemed to enjoy parts of it. So I guess it is like car travel. They need to feel safe in their spot and know what to expect.
👍👍👍. Very cool indeed. Thanks for sharing. Always love to watch the entire video.
Glad you enjoyed it. The kayak camping is going well and I'm going to try another one!
Glad to see you on trip again with the most sweetest dog in the world.😊😚
Awwww thanks. She is laying next to me here and would appreciate the positive feedback!
Amazing for your video of Kayak Camping with my dog at Waterbury Reservoir in Vermont. I admire you, I love your video and thanks for sharing.🥰
Thank you very much!
Such a peaceful place and so many loons. Millie is so sweet. We had a Shih Tzu and loved her to death. Thank you so much for sharing!!

Nice site! Smallest cheese grater I have ever seen LOL....Another great video ! Thank you
I just had to work that tiny cheese grater into the trip somehow. It's a bit silly but also fun.
Very nice.
Thanks!
Thank-you, Rachel. Very nice. Well, it's Vermudd after all.
Ahhhh... Vermudd. See, I learn so much from these comments. Never heard that before. I still have yet to get my hands on a Maple Creamee either.
Nice video. I would also recommend Green River Reservoir state park. I like that one better than Waterbury Reservoir.
My reservation is made! Glad you give it the thumbs up. I'm looking forward to it.
Love it ! Dog knows how to chill 😂 It is good to see you enjoying your trip.
It always brings a smile to see a dog super relaxed and content. Like we all want to feel sometimes.

@@RachelWhelton Thanks for the advice. I would love to take my guy and don't know if it's him I should worry about or is it my own anxiety.
Just curious, but how do you mount your camera on the kayak?
In some shots you can see a black plastic stick thing on the left front of the kayak. That is a camera mount for a gopro.
@@RachelWhelton second time I watched I saw it. That’s really fun seeing views from there.
Did your dog swim a little too?
No. Her little legs aren't so efficient. She prefers not to swim.
