VW got me for life. I have a 2022 SE V6 w/Tech and 4motion. Dealers were price gouging 8-15K over MSRP (I started with Teluride, then Palisade, Mazda, Highlander, Explorer, and Pathfinder). I refused to bribe the dealers and landed at the VW dealer. Just at my 2-year anniversary and I love everything about this SUV. Classy, luxurious, quiet, comfortable. One minor zonk is the annoying squeaky brake sounds especially in colder weather. I was told it’s by design due to the ceramic brakes 🤷♂️.
That's a lot of car for $39K quite honestly. Since it's a VW and reliability isn't class leading based on history, this would be a good lease candidate while the warranty is in force.
Honestly VW are good and it all depends on the models and years and more on side of what driver the car will have… like if you take care of it how it should be then this cars are actually reliable and cheap to maintain. And it does give a lot. Comfort, speed, luxury and gas mileage. And it depends of course
This is the best value candidate if you keep it well maintained and under warranty. I cross-shopped Honda, Nissan, Toyota, KIA, and Hyundai and found the Atlas more premium in this class. To be honest, it makes it own class where it's better than the Japanese in optionality and room, and below the Audi, BMW, and Mercedes for the price. Honda and Toyota may offer high-reliability but had the worst driving experience, dated infotainment, and below par sound systems even on top of the line trims. Nissan is out of race to be honest, while KIA and Hyundai were better than the Japanese options, the driving experience, insane mark-ups with theft-friendly options didn't make sense to me. VW offered me a great CPO deal with extended warranty which is still by far the best running vehicle in this class for the money and options.
@@aliqureshi3649 Don't overlook the Pathfinder. We have a 2022 in platinum trim and it's extremely comfortable, well optioned, and made very well with the bulletproof VQ 3.5 and ZF 9-speed transmission. There's a lot there for the money.
Its a shame but EU VW is a lot different than US VW. I have owned several VWs and they have been very reliable. I always hear US complain about VWs which is not so strange when you see what kind of cars VW sells there.
@kamata93 that's true, but the VW group is equally responsible for selling low quality cars to US as much as the consumers. I loved the Touarrg, but it went out of business due to higher price perception by consumers. VW should still focus on better engine quality with a little bit of premium for select trims.
Thanks Joe and your crew for the best and funniest car reviews 😂 it's become a must for me to watch every video you guys post. Keep up the good work 👏🏿
How they can get 20 MPG with such a heavy car speaks to how efficient 4 cylinder motors have become. Hate the fake exhaust. Don't like any chrome. Overall a very competitive offering. Like the wood trim; very tasteful.
I own both a 2024 BMW X3i and a 2024 VW Atlas R Line. I like the Atlas for its spaciousness and refined appearance, and I like the BMW for its sporty design, and practical features, such as functional air intakes and real exhaust tips. I compared the Telluride and Palisade with the Atlas, and all quirks aside, I just think the Atlas looks better. I especially like the front and rear lights. Let's face it, the cars we choose to buy are based more on subjective impressions and less on objective metrics. Nonetheless, the Atlas does have good numbers that enhance its practicality (such as interior design and spaciousness and reasonable fuel economy). The Atlas is also well-equipped with 6 USB-C drives. I have a lifetime of music stored on a 512 GB USB C drive. The interface allows me to navigate all the music in an easy interface that you can choose to organize like a directory structure on your computer hard drive. VW has always provided the best way to access music from external sources. The Atlas is a great vehicle to use for long road trips (camping trips), with enough space for a large cabin tent, 30 gallons of water, a 2,786W Eco Flow power station and a solar panel and a bathroom tent equipped with a shower and a toilet. Who needs an expensive RV when I can fit it all in my Atlas!
Everything works really well. I like the thicker sidewall tires, my only zonk on the exterior is the trim around the fake front vents. Smoked chrome would look better in my opinion.
I have the 24 SEL and love it. Wanted a Grand Highlander but they were delayed months. I will say this SE is the best bang for your buck in the segment. I went with the SEL as we wanted moonroof and memory seats.
Nice! Being that its in a line of hertiage of Bentley, Audi, Porsche it will do well in sales. Matter of fact it's in my budget. Thank You Joe for the content. Steven with the camera well done sir!!
Almost got this car! Loved everything about VW, these updates are so insane but i decided to save just a bit of money & went w the last 2023 SE w tech v6 the dealership had on their lot. Heated and ventilated seats on their base was soooo tempting not to mention the space it offers
Under 40k, 3 adult rows plus a large trunk, looks good (I could live with the fake exhaust tips) absolute bargain. Plus rear and forward facing child seats can remain in place, when the middle row is pushed forward to access the third row.
Is there a typo here on the price? The big SUV from VW, big screens, all digital, wood trim, heated and ventilated seats, wireless charging etc? I know passenger has only manual adjustment and no sunroof etc, but compared to competition, this is a lot of vehicle for $39 grand. Just wish it had 300 HP.
Apr has a tune callled apr plus doesn't void your warranty its 319hp and 348tq on that 2.0T its the same engine as the golf R and the GTI and the audi A lineup. The tune is $1000 the dealer will even tune the car for you.
They should have like little elbow trays inserted into each side of thay middle seat rest in the 2nd row. Something that would be soft touch and would be able to be pulled out on each side when needed. And pushed in when not. Theres clearly enough room in my opinion.
I've had at least one VW in the family since 1996, but no longer. I feel they've cheapened the materials and raised prices to the point where they're just not really that competitive. In my opinion the other German brands beat them at the high end and Hyundai/Kia beats them in the mainstream market. For every Atlas I see on the road I see 4 Telluride's.
Not even close to being the same class of vehicle as a CX-5. Can't speak to the SE, but sour SEL Premium R-Line has the heated steering wheel. So did our 11-year-old Nissan Armada Platinum, for that matter.
The light across the back is just too much. Also, I have a 22 Tiguan and I hate the lack of real buttons. Dangerous while driving, too. Need a bigger car for more twinkies now!
Why is everything a 4 cylinder! When I was young I had a 4 cylinder and wanted to work to get a brand new car with a v6 or v8. Now almost everything has gone 4 cylinder. I'm definitely getting the ford explorer st
@spyder1125 Okay, noted, not to worry, I can't afford them anyway. Lol. I am just entertained by those particular reviews of those, that's all. It's not for research reasons.
VW needs to make the front lower vents and rear lower exhaust functional. Especially on the SEL R Line premium and above the wheel well color of the vehicle than plastic. It takes away beautiful vehicles.
Car needs a redesign badly, I don’t get how many semi cheaper SUV’s under this one have plenty of high quality fit’n finishes throughout. This is why I always say a proper “no issues” used vehicle that you can find provides more for way cheaper.
The Pilot has been having transmission issues and other electrical issues. I would steer clear of that one. The Atlas really has only had mild electrical issues for the 2024 model.
@@spyder1125 touch screen blacking out in extreme cold weather and causing the remote start to not work. the issue was mainly with the very first 2024 atlases
@@barbz_zayne A wise point. But the last year was 2019. Big companies (except Nissan JATCO Trannies) go after such tranny issues, or ditch the tranny altogether. Apparently, they've addressed it and all has been quiet since 2019. It's like Subaru. Most mechanics will tell you to steer clear of the Boxer 2.5, especially the 2.5 turbo due to Head Gasket issues, and also Unintended Acceleration problems. And you'd be 100% right. Only thing, neither has been a problem since, wait for it...2019!
My pick of the segment - I still have a certain unshakable stigma toward Hyundai/Kia. Toyota/Honda are just boring and have been following the same recipe for decades at this point. The VW is classy and tasteful - and that it is the bargain offering of the segment is hard to believe - I remember when the original Touareg was really an X5/GLE competitor in disguise (and priced like one, too).
I knew this one would get many zonks. The fake vents, fake exhaust, and a major one for me is the power train turbo 4 banger in a midsize suv makes no sense. V6 is the way to go. The palisade is a much better choice
