Religion and LGBTQ+: Embracing Two Worlds | Vincent Mascarenas | TEDxMoreauCatholicHS

In his talk, Vincent discusses his own experience growing up gay and Catholic and the struggles that happened as a result of his conflicting identities. He talks about how he overcame the stigma surrounding being an LGBTQ+ Catholic and brings to light ways in which both groups can come together rather than against each other. Vincent Mascarenas is a member of Moreau Catholic's Campus Ministry Leadership Team, Varsity Volleyball, and the Pilipinx Student Association. As a member of Campus Ministry, he believes it’s essential for him to use his platform to speak on his experience as an LGBTQ+ Catholic to other people. He believes that the discussion of the LGBTQ+ community in the context of religion is often overlooked and ignored. He hopes that through his talk people will begin to have open conversations about such topics in order to understand one another and accept each other for who they are.
