I passed on this monitor due to the widespread reports of flickering however bestbuy had an insane black friday deal in canada and I couldn't resist. I have no flickering at any fps with gsync enabled and confirmed in the pendulum test. Manufacture date is September 2020 with firmware 1007. Theres also a new firmware available (1009) that has VRR. Overall this monitor is incredible
@@androsforever500 apparently in first person shooters if you put a high fov (which i always do) the image gets distorted (warping) is there a way to fix this? or is it not really noticeable.this is probably the only reason im scared to get this monitor besides it coming with dead pixels
I switched to this from the Dell 32" Gaming Monitor. They're comparable overall. I'm sticking with the Samsung for its better response time and refresh rate. Curve takes some getting used to. I'd prefer 1800. I paid $600 for the G7 32", and it's not worth more. If the Dell had a better response time, I would have stayed with that one. Its response time sucked. Great video.

Just pulled the trigger on it and i can see that you play warzone(i subbed you sub me back) and im wondering if there is any warping during game play and how is game play with this panel. Iv never went curved so how is it did you get used to quickly.

I got my G7/32inch last week and I love it. I’m using it with my Xbox one x and it looks amazing so I can only imagine what a proper PC would look like on it taking advantage of the full capabilities of the monitor.
£550 here in Britain, going to get it I think. Going from 1080p 144hz to 1440p 240hz. Already got a curved monitor so the curve wont bother me. Thanks for the review!
@Sgt Bilko I did get one and yes it is really nice. You can tell a slight difference between 144hz and 240hz. And the resolution looks alot better than 1080p no issues with it so far. Colours and everything are really good. And the deep blacks are nice

Got the 32" and love it. Little flicker with Adaptive Sync enabled and not alone as many others as well. Latest Nvidia drivers reduced but still there. So in the meantime running at 240 with AS turned off. MS Flight Sim 2020 looks amazing. :)
I bought this monitor as an upgrade specifically for Halo Infinite when it releases in 10 more days. So I laughed and got excited when I saw the Infinite demo playing in the background.

@@willwunsche6940 very nice, had it over half a year now and it holds up well - I’ve grown to love the 1000R curve, colours and hz is nice - only gripe is the blue LED light that blinks when the monitor is off, some tape to cover it is my workaround

@@willwunsche6940 Definitely a centre piece type of deal with this monitor, make sure you have the latest firmware update that you do via usb - but the picture and game settings are all you preference, happy gaming!

100% made me more confident in buying. If the curve is great for gaming but not great for productivity, that’s not a huge problem for me because I have a 27” flat 4K monitor that I can photo/video edit and write on.
I watched the Hardware Unboxed review before I bought this monitor and, honestly, if I had gone with his review, I would have never bought it. I was coming from a 24" 1500r MSI VA panel that I really liked, I just wanted to step up to 1440 gaming. He went on and on about the eye strain this 1000r panel gave him. Just to see if he was being dramatic, I bought the monitor from Amazon because worst case scenario I could always return it. This monitor is perfect! No eye strain whatsoever. Matter of fact, I bought the Corsair XENEON 32QHD165 to compare them both. I really like the Corsair, but after coming from a curved panel, it seemed the corners of the Corsair were so far away. It was a weird feeling, like it was curved outward. Overall I liked the Corsair, but I think 32" is a bit much for as close as I sit to my monitor. I like Hardware Unboxed, but their review of this monitor, imo, was extremely biased.
Great review, kept nice and simple, I’ve bought 2 of these for my kids for ps5 & Xbox series x, couldn’t wait for next year For the HDM 2.1 to come out, hope they are as good as your review makes them look and they look great, how do you think the ps5 &xbox will Look on a G7, I’ve gone for the 32” , they’ve always had flat screens so I’m hoping they’ll get used to the curve
@@7KingCobra7 Not everyone is buying it for the 240hz. I couldn't care less for the 240hz. It's simply the best 1440p monitor you can get for the best visuals and response time.
Thank you for answering my main concern, I was really worried about the curve with productivity as it is a secondary use with a monitor for me. But after this review, it really did help give me more confidence in buying such an aggressive curved monitor.
i had heaps of issues with screen flickering on certain games on my 32" G7. There is currently a class action in the US about the issues lots of people are having with this series of monitors and Samsung monitors in general. my advice would be to google 'screen flickering' before you buy and be ready to put your money towards a more reputable brand

12:42 is a deal breaker for me. I've been super interested in this monitor, but I've also been playing far too much Tarkov lately. The game is so godamn dark and being able to spot people in dark areas (which is almost always the case) is the difference between life and death. I really want a big 32" 1440p monitor with 144hz (or more) refresh rate. Thought the G7 might be the one. Guess it's back to the drawing board. Awesome review.

One correction: GSync does have multiple levels, there are currently three and (along with my amateur understanding of the distinction of each level) they are: *Gsync Compatible*: Basically means GSync has been tested by NVidia and is certified to work with the generic Adaptive Sync or Free Sync otherwise available on the monitor. This is the most common and, since it doesn't require special hardware, generally the cheapest. *Gsync*: the "standard" custom GSync implementation, it requires special hardware. These monitors tend to be more expensive and much more rare. *Gsync Ultimate*: hardware based "standard" GSync plus a specific minimum HDR level and possibly other criteria. They recently lowered the HDR minimum. These monitors are, of course, rarer and more expensive still. The Samsung G7 and G9 are both "Gsync Compatible".

@@shawns2380 The monitor is been amazing. No dead pixel and the backlight bleed on mine isn't that bad. The flickering has gotten better with software update, not as much now (with hdr). But when gsync & adaptive sync is disabled there's no flickering.
I hardware calibrate my monitors with a colorimeter. Not doing the icc profiles any more. As it's so broken in windows. But I do use the colorimeter and icc calibration software to help hardware calibrate it
I have the older gen of this monitor CHG70. Honestly Samsung does not offer enough reason to upgrade. Curve is worse in my opinion. 1800R CHG70 is quite nice. Contrast is worse too, especially on 32 inch panel. Colors pretty much same. What they did is bumping up the refresh rate along with response times. I think 144hz and 240hz doesn't have much difference outside of pure competitive gaming. Cpu/Gpu power for 1440p/240hz is too much as well. What i would like to see: 1- Better contrast ratio and black uniformity. 2- Wider gamut like LG's nano ips or MSI's %99 adobe panel MAG27blahblah-qd. 3- 1800R curve 4- 4k at 32 inch with 144/165hz. 5- Better brightness and HDR tonemapping like TV's. Where i'm looking at (long time CHG70 user) G7 is worse monitor but has 240hz refresh rate. Another point is that their QC is so bad i don't think they have right to ask that much money. I've returned like 5 or 6 CHG70 before getting acceptable unit.
Great video, I didn’t know how helpful a monitor might be for different games or situations. I’ve been watching a lot of monitor videos and I can’t figure out what I’m actually in the market for. I’m a ps5 player, I’m looking at the G7 or the G5, I know I don’t need 240Hz for the PlayStation, but if I have the budget is there an advantage or argument for me to spend the extra money on the G7? The curved screen is on my shopping list because my main game is GT7 so I want to mount this on a racing rig, I don’t want or need 3 monitors so I’m thinking the curved screen will allow me the next best thing to VR. I will also play rocket league and COD (very uncompetitively) and the odd adventure game.
I shall received this monitor tomorrow, payed little cheaper then what you said, I upgraded my Dell s3220dgf 32 inch 165Hz monitor for this one, hope I won't regret it, can you give me best setting for this monitor for shooting game?

The black equalizer is your friend for competitive dark games though - turns it right into your average IPS panel in terms of contrast ;p

I was on the fence but I read the latest firmware resolved the flicking with Gsync. Notice any smearing with this monitor being a VA panel?

I hardware calibrate my monitors with a colorimeter. Not doing the icc profiles any more. As it's so broken in windows.
But I do use the colorimeter and icc calibration software to help hardware calibrate it

What monitors are really good for escape from tarkov? Preferably 1440p 144hz or higher.
I won the panel lottery with my g7 27 inch, no backlight bleed whatsoever
I have the older gen of this monitor CHG70. Honestly Samsung does not offer enough reason to upgrade. Curve is worse in my opinion. 1800R CHG70 is quite nice. Contrast is worse too, especially on 32 inch panel. Colors pretty much same. What they did is bumping up the refresh rate along with response times. I think 144hz and 240hz doesn't have much difference outside of pure competitive gaming. Cpu/Gpu power for 1440p/240hz is too much as well. What i would like to see:
1- Better contrast ratio and black uniformity.
2- Wider gamut like LG's nano ips or MSI's %99 adobe panel MAG27blahblah-qd.
3- 1800R curve
4- 4k at 32 inch with 144/165hz.
5- Better brightness and HDR tonemapping like TV's.
Where i'm looking at (long time CHG70 user) G7 is worse monitor but has 240hz refresh rate. Another point is that their QC is so bad i don't think they have right to ask that much money. I've returned like 5 or 6 CHG70 before getting acceptable unit.

Great video, I didn’t know how helpful a monitor might be for different games or situations. I’ve been watching a lot of monitor videos and I can’t figure out what I’m actually in the market for. I’m a ps5 player, I’m looking at the G7 or the G5, I know I don’t need 240Hz for the PlayStation, but if I have the budget is there an advantage or argument for me to spend the extra money on the G7? The curved screen is on my shopping list because my main game is GT7 so I want to mount this on a racing rig, I don’t want or need 3 monitors so I’m thinking the curved screen will allow me the next best thing to VR. I will also play rocket league and COD (very uncompetitively) and the odd adventure game.
I'm torn between this monitor and the BenQ EX2710R. Wish I could compare them in person.
