    Was a lot of fun coming around the RJN Studio! Good review with a lot of extra insights and tests! Though the reading text test you did, that's exactly why I still prefer the TN options at 240hz with the OD on, bit of a nit pick. However ignorance isn't just bliss, it's personal placebo certified entertainment when it comes to a monitor.

    Great review, I also think 1440p at 32 inch is good, honestly 4K is just way to overrated. I rather have 1440p, and push the graphics to max and still get high fps compared to running a game at 4k

    • @SmellsLikeNirvanna
      @SmellsLikeNirvanna 4 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      1440p at 32inch is the same as 1080p at 24.5 inch.

      It honestly all depends on how close you are to your monitor.

    • @danielvelkovski3156
      @danielvelkovski3156 4 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      How is 4k overrated? You see way more detail and that helps in the draw distances. I have no issues with FPS in 60fps but thank god the 3090 does 100+ fps in 4k. I used to play cs source in 30fps and still got accused of hacking. From what I’ve seem some high hz monitors cause blur (due to the fast color changes) defeating the purpose. So gotta do crazy research before buying.

    • @Euwanh85
      @Euwanh85 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@NhBleker What distance do you sit from this monitor, I just bought one and worried that I cant sit far enough away from it and now worried I should have got the 27inch version. I am only able to sit maybe 70cm away

    • @danielvelkovski3156
      @danielvelkovski3156 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @Benjamin Do I agree 100%. The amount of detail no comparison. If the new cards can actually push 120fps then that at 4k is ideal for me. The detail in the draw distances is a huge advantage. I hope I'm wrong but it feels like some people are crapping on 4k gaming cause it's out of their price range and trying to justify their own gear. I see issues with crazy high hz monitors but from 60fps to -120/144 is a huge leap. Beyond that I know I wont need more. I'll die more not seeing the enemy in full clarity vs blaming it on the lack of having over 144hz.

      You can always window mode your game and change resolution! My brother does this with league of legends and also pros do it in csgo they squeeze the screen and it has the black bars on the side. This works great for people that want a movie cinematic experience on a bigger monitor but still like to play FPS games competitively.

    As a platinum R6 player (nothing at fuck-all to brag about), I can honestly say that latency matters a LOT to me. I used to play at 144hz for about 5 years, which in my opinion is already very smooth. I recently upgraded to 240hz and to challenge myself I did the same response time test as you showed in this video. I tested my average response time on 3 different monitors I got laying around:
    Samsung G7 240hz 32" 240 hz average response time (5 click-tests): 117ms
    Acer GN246HLB 24" 144hz average response time (5 click-tests): 165ms
    Macbook Pro 2017 15" @ 60hz [not a stand-alone monitor, but still] average response time (5 click-tests): 274ms
    All tests were done multiple times and the average score is listed above.
    It quite honestly surprised me how much of a difference I get between 144hz and 240hz.

    • @yukegaming8788
      @yukegaming8788 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@generalchicken3385 It is more complicated, sadly. Latest firmware fixed things like the flickering "Pendulum Demo" but Games with bad Frame Times or Games that your System can only run at FPS, that are within the LFC/VRR transition range, still flicker.
      The "VRR Control" feature that got introduced "fixes" those flicker problems by skipping frames that are problematic, which results in micro stuttering. I don't blame people or reviewers for not seeing those problems. You have to be extremely thorough and take your time analysing it. Some people probably only test with competitive titles, that won't show problems anyway, others may have a "dedicated" freesync (AMD) card, that handles VRR/LFC range differently, thus avoiding the problematic VRR/LFC range.
      As i said, its fucking complicated and for that reason, wont be fixed. Not worth their (Samsungs) time. Not enough money in the PC-Gamer space for a Panel manufacturer.

    Personally the sweet spot for me is 27", 1440p. (ideally at 240hz) 32" is too big for desktop use IMO, at that point you are for all practical purposes playing on a TV. 24" is fine for office work, but for FPS gaming I will always favour a 27" 1440p as long as you have the GPU to drive it at competitive framerates.
    I'm still holding out hope that BenQ/Zowie do a 1440p version of their XL2746S considering how amazing their motion resolution is vs other LCD displays. Until then I expect I'll be using my MG279Q for a while yet.

    Waiting for 1440p and 240Hz or more Hz. That's where the best experience is. I play with Asus PG25QM that is 1080p 240Hz, when I used to play on a 1440p 144Hz monitor. I'd say 1440p is better experience in CS:GO for some reason. From outside of B looking towards car near A on Dust II, you can see the head poking out better. As well as 1440p is better at seeing enemies in dark places then any black equalizer on 1080p.

  • @DeeGeeTaL

    Didn't mean to write a wall of text, it just happened ;) Here is TL/DR: *Having a good screen is the best investment you can have on your pc as it is the ONLY part you spend time looking at and the part of the setup that's usually last to upgrade*
    I've been into "computer world" since Spectrum/Commodore 64 and during the (lots of) years i've used a lot of different screens, from 80's tv's, through 13'' black and white crt, and through most of the screen sizes/resolutions after that, 14'', 15'', 17'', 19'', 22, 27. Everytime a change for a bigger screen and higher resolution was a change for the better (4k and technology needed for it has not matured yet, imho). Now i'm using 32'' / 1440p / 144mhz screen and i can't recommend it enough, for everything, gaming, surfing, working... general use. I feel it is the perfect size, not quite sure that bigger than this would be better (time will tell). The feeling is amazing when you sit infront of a good, big screen, no matter what you do. Just... amazing. And the feeling of amazement is still present after 1 year of daily use. I do IT and i work from home most of the time, so it's 12hrs + infront of the screen every day. Info is not to brag, but to put in to perspective that i'm using the screen heavily on a daily basis, for a lot of different stuff and i'm still in awe everytime i sit infront of it. IF your budget allows, switch to 32''/1440p. Depending what games you play/work you do, screens with 75mhz will do the job (they ar 'cheap'), and at this moment there are quite a few really good and budget friendly 32'' 1440p 144mhz screens out there, and there will be more in the future. Be aware tho, as Rocket says, you will need beefier GPU for that excercise, but to alleviate that to SOME DEGREE, you don't need expensive CPU/MB combo (thanks amd) for that as the GPU will be the bottleneck. As long as you're not chasing insanely high frame rates. But even then, if you are into competative gaming, you won't be playng at the highest settings and 10600k+oc will do the job.

    I think you should've talked more about motion blur , it's really important for 240hz fast displays
    most displays have a way or a method to reduce motion blur , but they are not as good as the DyAc from Benq , and they also cap the frame rate to a lower fps than what you want ( which is 240fps)
    I really hope you talk more about DyAc feature , and how amazing it is , and mention it on next comparisons

    • @RocketJumpNinja
      @RocketJumpNinja  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I try to film the monitors with DyAc at high frame rate it just shows a black screen on camera ... which is obviously useless to me. Apparently it's because it's using strobing of some kind. Not a fan, personally. I'll stick with this for now.

      Didn't know about that problem
      But for me DyAc showed a much better implementaion of reducing motion blur compared to other ones , you can clearly see the difference in a motion blur test
      For me it's a big difference , and I think many ppl would like it too when they see the difference ,
      Also as a competitive gamer , I don't care visual quality or colours .. , I care most about refresh rate , response time and motion blur implementation , that's what I will look into if I'm willing to buy a monitor for fast paced games or competitive

    Hi Zy. I've been looking on a lot of your mouse reviews over the past 3 years or so and I've came to the conclution that I need some personal tips. I've been playing a lot of FPS over the past years and I've been in a enormous dip in my skill for the past 2 or so years. I have no clue why, I believe that it's because I switched to the Glorious Model O and recently Model O- mice. I'm sure that that's it because I really love the mice, however, that around the time I switched from my Rival 300.
    I personally have some very slight judde/ shake that believe effect my aim a little bit since I can't be super precise. And since I got these judder "issues" and a low wight mouse I suppose that makes it worse? So I'm here to ask you for tips on good mice with higher weight, around the 80-120g weight ratio maybe? I've been looking on the G Pro Wireless since I know it's a wonderful mouse, but I wanna see other options aswell. Thanks :)

    I wish I would have watched this before I went with the G7. I do 3D design 80% of the time and game the rest. For the gaming, I LOVE IT. Everything about it. Now for the other 80% of the time, personally I think Id much rather had a flat monitor for day work and the G7 for gaming at night. Which will be the case, I just should have went with something flat first and the G7 after. So if its any type of office work, or measuring things like in 3D programs, the curve distorts things to my naked eye enough sometimes that I find myself checking things an extra 3-4 times to make sure.

    I got the 27", I have to say it's a really good monitor and Samsung did a fantastic job in terms of response times, however the quality control is a big let down. I went through two units which both had brightness flickering with G-Sync (this shouldn't be the case for a G-Sync Compatible certified monitor) which seems to be a very common issue, and uniformity was also very disappointing and noticeable in normal content -- this also seems to be a common issue. I'm going to try one more replacement however I'll have to return it if there's issues with it -- while I don't really need G-Sync (it does feel like a scam though if it doesn't really work), the uniformity is a deal breaker.
