Hello My friend, I've wanted an HW80 since being twelve years old, and I finally got one when I was in forty-eight, in 2018. Their stocks have recently been greatly improved, though when I bought mine, with respect, they were dull, bland, and not worthy to carry such an iconic action. After a while considering it, I made my own stock. I stepped back and thought about it and how I wanted it to be. I'm no Minelli, I have hand tools, a black and decker workmate, a kitchen, and a will to succeed. I laminated my stock using Wanut and Ash and finished it in Linseed Oil. The style is based on predators, not carbon copy carvings, just suggestions. I was very pleased with how it turned out. While making the gunstock, I had the action tuned. It represents a lot of things to me and is very special.
Hello My friend, I was shooting from my one man hide at the weekend, after corvids. I'd love to use my HW80k, but there would be too much movement and noise to be successful. I sit all in position with my pcp, all I have to do is pull the trigger and then re load with the cocking lever. With my 80, I'd have to pull the long air rifle out of position and back again, break the barrel, locate and install another pellet, latch up and turn the safety on, and reposition, all in a tiny hide. It's a no-brainer. The quarry would be long gone. I'd love to use my 80, though.

Hello My friend, You have two quality springers there, which are a challenge to shoot accurately, even in calm conditions, never mind windy. It's always nice to hit the bull with a springer. I'm always thinking of where and how I hold the springer as I'd say, however, you hold one, meaning where on the fore end you place your hand and how tightly you hold the gun overall will I'd say effect your accuracy. It's annoying not getting tight groups, even though I put much more effort in than with a pcp. Although pcp's are easier to shoot, they're handier too, with a cocking lever and magazine, meaning you have a quick follow up shot and you're not constantly cocking a barrel to reload pellets individually. There's a guy here called Dave Ratz. I've never seen anybody shoot an HW80 like he does and the ranges he shoots at. He's a fantastic air rifle shooter all round. Thank you for posting your film.

@keith6930 Hello My friend, Without meaning to overexaggerate, holding the fore end in different places will alter the balance of the gun in the split second function of the recoil. Also, if you're shooting off a bean bag or any rest, I'd always put the palm of your hand on first, then the fore end on the palm of your hand. Without meaning to go overboard and ridiculous, if you wore a thin t shirt, then a puffer jacket, that is thought to alter your accuracy as the stock has a different resistance to recoil against. As I learn and understand what I've read and been told, everything you do on every shot must be exactly the same, or whatever is different will impact your accuracy. This attracts some people as a challenge, though pushes others towards pcp's.

Thanks for watching
Have you worked on both these rifles? Only j have 3 WeihrauchBB, s and mine close as easy as yours, all standard from factory
These were as I got them, I hadn't taken them apart at all
I prefer a springer over a gas ram for me personally ,but seeing as you are shooting 2 weihrauch air rifles I think you are probably good either way,
Cheers from the USA
With Weihrauchs making up pretty much all but one rifles I agreed can't go wrong with the German springer 😂
@@keith6930 I just got the Air arms TX200 carbine today took it out of the box and shot a 1-inch group at 30yds with 18.13gr JSB pellets.
it is the laminate stock new one that has just come out.
Very nice trigger on it.
I plan on doing a comparison video between the Air arms tx200 and weihrauch HW77k and the HW97K since I now own all 3.
should be a fun video to make.
@@BravoBassin very nice collection indeed.
I wouldn't say not to a TX if one came up for the right price, bit too £ for me brand new
@@keith6930 Yes the new ones with the laminate stocks are very pricey for sure.
I struggled with that as well.
But I just said what the hell and went for it.
definitely will be the most expensive air rifle I will own.
Try JSB jumbo rs in 5.52. Every. 22 springer or rammer loves them
I've never really dabbled or tried the JSB .22 yet but I'll certainly give them a go, thanks
You need some scales for pellet weighing. Any fairly cheap electronic "drug dealers" ones will do grains.
It is interesting to see the variety from one tin
Had em both ,and both will do the job 😉
Thanks, certainly are a nice couple of rifles
I don't know if it's just me but the 90 doesn't sound consistent in it's muzzle report. It maybe me just looking for a fault being an old school hw80 user .
Not sure TBH
When I've chrono it at random times the power seems consistent?
To be fair, that day when I was shooting was properly windy and the mic on the phone is sensitive or amplifies some sound over others?
@keith6930 ah, that makes sense . It's not like an hw too be inconsistent lol .
Could do with a "Petes " in the south west
Certainly makes a fun day out.
Got my eye on a place in the midlands way but few and far between. All ranges seem to be gun clubs or extortionate prices per hour
@keith6930 I was in HBRA club when shooting full bore ,it was only £75 a year and shoot once every month with no other range fees ,we have a range not to far from me but its £180 a year and then pay on the day on top ,I have got farm land to shoot on ,but a range like petes would be cool ,how much is it to shoot there?
2 inch groups 😮 oh god
99s for me in .22 👍🏻
Funny you mention the 99...one may be on its way to me. Just don't tell the missus
If you run the 90 at 11.5 you will find your ammo will behave differently again as,obviously your out put is different.. Wait till you service it👍😊🇬🇧
I've tried 'pumping' it up but alas not getting anywhere so left to one side for now.
It's on the jobs to do, same as getting back to actually shooting 😂.
It deserves a little love as it's a brilliant rifle and the Elite trigger is dare I say it, better to use than the Rekord one??
Hi I'm a friend of TH-cam
I shoot with a HW90 .177 and .22 on my channel. I think the results of my configuration with the hw90 could interest you 😉 (for 30, 50 and 100 meters)
Well done nice shooting with these 2 rifles ! I hesitated to take the HW80 for my first Weihrauch, it's a good rifle.
Test the JSB Exact Heavy in the HW90 you will be impressed 🙂
Nice vidéo
Plinker
Thanks, it's a great rifle
Don't change the gas ram on that 90 - not just yet.
It's gonna be a while but will get the pump 1st and see how well it holds air before stripping completely
Well I have to say 25 yards with these rifles hmmmmm😢 legendary stories of these rifles I now find hard to believe, I’ll not be buying one
I made the mistake of zeroing outdoors on a day when the wind was all over the place. I should have left it alone and held off instead.
Pellet wise, I was just testing the Bisley range and probably not best suited compared to others. This certainly shows with the different weights or head shape.
80 was designed to be 20 ftlbs but we have a nanny state that limited it to a kids toy power . Total waste of a good air rifle
I suppose there will always be a sweet spot for all rifles and not many will be at 12ftIbs unfortunately
These guns are great...Gamo has higher velocity/ HW better quality.
I know Weihrauch comes under fire for a couple of niggles but it's hard to argue the heft, feel and quality when picking one up. They're built to last and perform very well.
I don’t like the gas ram shot cycle. To sharp and snappy.
HW77 all day long.
I think the 97 could be my favourite rifle, not shot a 77, I think they look better proportioned
Mumbling incoherent at times wind noise
Incoherent mumbling, sounds like me most days.
It was epically windy that day, I need to treat myself to a lapel mic to help reduce the noise
Hw80 put a titian xs spring in and a PTFE piston washer in then its a rabbit buster 50 meters all day
I've swapped over the barrels to a .25 for a little play.
When the .22 barrel is back on it'll be running with a Vortek PG4 kit. They've been great additions to the other Weihrauchs I've got.
The 80 is a cracking rifle for sure
