As a teeth enthusiast and planning to be a dentist, our "ancient ancestors" actually DID brush their teeth. The oldest brush was this type of branch from a type of tree which when wet and chewed, creates soft bristles. This was thousands and thousands of years ago btw

Imagining Danny sheepishly going upstairs to see his wife and sleeping on their bedroom floor because he was lonely in the spooky basement is very endearing and very hilarious.
His basement looked nice to me. My childhood home had this big basement with like gouges out of the floor, the walls were just bare concrete blocks, there was a center dividing wall, and a side room that was even sketchier feeling. There were words written on some of the walls, and a creepy painting of some demonic figure on one of them. It sounds like I'm making this up, but I'm really not. Was super sketched out by it as a kid.
Respekt that Danny is a responsible adult and made sure to keep consulting a physician for this challenge. It goes a long way in making sure impressionable people who may want to replicate this will also seriously consider consulting a physician.

Imagine how pissed off our ancestors would be if they found out we have all these conveniences of modern life and there were some people who chose to live like them like they wouldn’t even choose that life for themselves if there was a choice
Right. Like "You have all these gadgets to do things easier? And you DON'T use them?" and then our ancestors would literally kill to have the modern conveniences.
Well, the thing is, he isn't living like our ancestors. Our ancestors definitely did not eat this much meat, nor did they work out this excessively. They also didn't just sleep on the ground. Meat is hard to come across in nature. No farms back then meant getting meat required hunting. Hunting with just a handmade spear is easy to fail, even easier if you have nothing at all. For the most part, when our ancestors ate meat they scavenged the kills from other predators. One thing they'd do was eat bone marrow, since our intelligence made us more able to get into the bones to get the bone marrow, while a large cat or wolf would have a very hard time doing that. Laziness is essential in a survival scenario. The more you do in a day, the more energy you expend. You really need to watch that, because it is extremely easy to die of exhaustion if you're especially restless. There are survival based shows where they put members of the public in the wild to survive, and just one unreasonably restless dude can ruin it for the rest, because they consume way more food and often times achieve very little. Building muscle also makes you a huge resource hog, and a 60kg dude can throw a spear hard enough to kill a deer just as easily as a 100kg dude, so that muscle does nothing for survival. Sleeping on the ground is a great way to lose all your heat. That's fine in a house because you're insulated, but in nature sleeping on the ground will make you wake up stiff and in pain, and in cold enough environments it can even kill you. Just a pile of leaves can significantly increase your odds of survival. On top of all that, there's strong evidence that this Liver King dude is taking growth hormones. They don't grow on trees, so he absolutely isn't living like our ancestors. All these paleo-bros would give up on actually living like our ancestors because one real defining feature of our ancestors is anxiety. You have to be constantly alert for danger, because there's no civilisation safety net. You really want to live like a hunter gatherer, you need to be in a state of constant stress, and that's just an awful way to live.
it's actually pretty adorable that the liver guy thought danny was actually interested in his hobby, and it kinda makes me sad that it was just an accident:(

Last I checked our Ancestors invented science and did everything they could to comfort themselves. While I give the Liver King props for being kind, I don't like the approach of just applying "our ancestors did it" to how we should live our lives. Primal ancestors struggled to survive, I feel like we should thank them for that struggle by appreciating the comforts we have and using our time to make the world better and safer for our descendants.

someone really needs to tell the Liver King that the invention of fire and cooked food is like an integral part of human history and all of our ancestors understood how to cook food right up until the point we were casually eating other hominids out of existence.
too lazy to edit my comment but someone should also tell him that our ancestors weren't injecting human growth hormone and didn't have swollen stomachs due to enlarged organs.
There's evidence that humans actually used fire Long before being able to create it Likely stealing it from brush fires and taking very good care of it to keep it going as long as possible So humans wanted to cook their food Before even really being able to

There's evidence our intelligence evolved because we learned how to cook foods to extract more nutrients out of raw ingredients, so we evolved to spend less energy on digestion and more on our brains.

The obsession with liver is so strange because early man had to hunt their food which took a lot of energy, they wouldn’t focus on the liver they wouldn’t waste any part! The skin and coat for clothes and warmth, the teeth for jewellery the meat for… well… Meat! Plus they were hunter GATHERERS so the aversion to like any berries or anything is insane. The guy probably has wicked scurvy
@@sourdough6653 It's literally partially why our brains developed the way they did. Plus the energy saved on digestion since cooked meat is way easier to digest.
That sounds like not too far from pemmican which is made by indigenous peoples in Alaska and Canada it uses fat of some sort as it's base (tallow or seal blubber usually) and is mixed with dried meat or liver (probably not beef liver since beef isn't exactly available), dried berries, and whatever sweetener they can get their hands on. It's an ultra high calorie trail food for groups going out to hunt. So the CONCEPT is there but liver king gotta liver king and remove half the ingredients.
As an anthropology major I just want to mention that even by the most aggressive estimates of when humans began being notably different from animals, we have never chosen to eat raw meat. Since the discovery of fire nearly all meat (and a large portion of non-meat foods) began being cooked and no group to my understanding has ever willfully gone back to not cooking meat. Even in the most dire situations (like mass starvation and drought) food has still been cooked. In a site where one of my professors studied there was substantial evidence for cannibalistic behavior and one of the best examples was that the bones had been cooked. The bone marrow actually had been eaten out of a few long bones, but only after cooking. There was so little food that these people turned to eating each other and they still cooked their meat.
Maybe I'm biased but I think my ancestors would love to know that their bloodline is thriving in a society that's cleaner, more food-accessible, and perhaps safer than their time ever was. My ancestors watching me play video games instead of toiling on an ancient farm until I collapsed and died of exhaustion: Wow we're so proud of him
i see where you're coming from and yeah i agree, i don't think our ancestors would want us to go through the same hardships as they did unless they were real dicks. but as a sidenote to your last point, exploitation in farming has never been worse, unfortunately. lots of workers getting paid next to nothing to work crazy hours in unsafe conditions and administer stupid-harmful pesticides with inadequate protective equipment. it sucks and it's not talked about a lot, especially when migrant workers are involved. would recommend La Vía Campesina, a grassroots org started by farmers, to anyone who wants to learn more. sorry for hijacking your comment this is just something ive been learning more about recently and man i find it interesting as all hell

I'm just saying, as a French person who regularly eats beef liver, I usually cook it. it's quite common to eat things like heart, tongue, liver, bone marrow, and other less used parts of meat, but it's usually cooked, prepped and eaten like regular meat, along veggies or some pasta/rice. One of my favorite dishes is actually beef liver cooked in butter, red wine vinegar and parsley. Then the cooked liver is put on the plate and the "juice" is mixed in the pan with cooked pasta. Its fantastic and a family recipe. Anyways, great video, I just thought it was fun to see the cultural differences between the us and france
Yes, I'm Hungarian, we also use all parts of an animal we can. Of course prepared safely. I'm not a huge fan of how liver tastes (we usually prepare it with plenty of garlic) but your recipe made me want to cook it and try it for myself. I know it's a family recipe, so I don't know how comfortable are you with sharing the amounts, but if you were willing to do it, I'd be super thankful!
That sounds interesting! I've never been a big fan of liver (only tried it a couple of times as a kid) but I'd totally eat that if someone offered it to me.
Just because Danny made a video further exploring this guy and his habits doesn’t mean he’s promoting him. If people decide to change their opinions completely based on a few limited interactions, that’s on them. Danny remained fair throughout the entire video, even going as far as to include a medical professional to properly educate on risks and benefits. I like that he didn’t just continually rail on the Liver King the entire time. He was truthful of what he experienced and offered an unbiased look. Again, if people are foolish enough to see this as promotion or think the Liver King is a good guy based on a few Instagram DMs, that’s on them. From what I’ve seen in the comments the vast majority still don’t agree with the Liver King and think what he’s hawking is disingenuous, a scam, and at worst dangerous. Even if they think he’s a “nice guy” they still obviously see that he’s trying to sell something that isn’t based in legitimacy.
Right. I think he can do what he likes, but it's based on no science at all and not on any clear period of human existence because primitive tooth cleaning tools and cooking with fire have been a thing for ?? Like most of us being humans. He also finds a way to incorporate having a mansion, guns, jet skis, and steroids into his lifestyle but not a tooth brush or a grill? It's 100% just him larping as a big strong cave man

@Clyde Wellington Humans *and animals* have always gotten cancer and humans have documented it throughout all of recorded history. We have literally found fossilized tumors and have even found cancerous tumors in the bodies of ancient mummified humans. Your comment is incredibly ill-informed.
@Clyde Wellington so to be clear you think 5g causes cancer because ehh cancer rates are up slightly? How did people get cancer before 5g then, should be a world without scary cancer. People are living longer, of course cancer rates would be up, older people are much more likely to get cancer. What you can’t do is give any reason why GMO’s would be inherently unhealthy because there is none. I think I already said it but you can gmo food to be more nutritious more efficient and use NO pesticides. GMO’s will be critical in the future
@Clyde Wellington worth bringing up as well there are probably trillions of differences in life today compared to the past, to just cherry pick one difference and say it has to be this because this has also increased is crazy.

people are complaining and literally saying its because they didn't watch or don't remember the other liver king video. Like, thats not Danny's fault???!
Mostly because he's showing the guy as someone who seems nice and didn't do any criticism in this video at all. Instead he gives a more positive light in this video and people can go with this without watching the other video.

Things the liver king is right about: It’s good to be in nature It’s good to push yourself It’s good to move your body often It’s good to eat nutritious food. Things he is not right about: Everything else, especially the raw food thing. Heat makes many nutrients more bioavailable and is a big part of why we are able to allocate so many calories to the brain instead of the digestive tract.
also good to reflect in silence and be barefoot (for snow or ice I would say only a few seconds a week) (because it helps mantain a rich sensory diet which is very important for stress management. go step on crunchy leaves barefoot . now.)
that is only true about vegetables cooking meat doesn't make it easy to digest it just makes it overall safer to eat but if you know the meat is safe raw meat is more nutritious.
It seems there's some things that Mr. The Liver King was right about, and some things he was overblown about. Things like spending time outside, especially when it's nice, exercising, eating a diet rich in vitamins and sleeping well are very important and often neglected in the modern day. Of course there were some things taken way too far, but a lot of it, in moderation, is good advice. Also, if he packed the meat with dry ice, the ice would not have melted into a liquid, but instead sublimated into CO2 gas! Which would explain the empty ice bag

@@cyborgXcsun Sounds like something says Lamarck would say. The only reason we a re "de- evolving" Is because we no longer do the whole natural selection thing. @@cyborgXcsun de-evolution isn’t a thing. we’re still evolving, every species on earth is, it’s just that we’re not constantly getting killed by our environment and so we don’t have the kind of environmental stressors that encourage mutation and evolution in specific and more obvious directions. there really isn’t much of a difference biologically between a modern day human and a human from 10,000 years ago, except some mild environmental factors like jaw strength that you’d see in a meat heavy diet, and in fact do see in tribes who still live that way. we’re not becoming weaker with each generation, in fact we’re just maintaining a stasis pattern if anything, because we’ve eliminated most of the struggles humanity had faced for thousands of years. and that’s not a bad thing

Weirdest part abt the whole mentality of this liver king guy is like…humans have always had ways to clean themselves. You can even see other primates cleaning and grooming themselves. Ancient humans didn’t have as many issues with tooth decay because their diet contained a lot of gritty, hard materials like grains (which help remove plaque by scraping it off), less sugar, and throughout history there are instances of people chewing on certain types of bark or sticks to clean their teeth. Humans (and other animals!) have always been aware about hygiene because being dirty can cause infection, sickness, or attract pests like insects. Additionally?? People also?? Like to be warm?? Yes in ancient times people often went cold because they had no other option, but humans learned how to make fire and clothing to avoid the cold as much as possible, additionally humans, as social animals, most often lived in packs/groups, so very likely body heat was also a component to stave off the cold lol
It’s also real weird to be against cooking because like…humans are the ONLY species that cook!! It’s one of our defining traits and great adaptations that allowed us to prosper!! Cooking means food is less dangerous and easier to preserve!! Cmon!!
I was gonna comment something like this but I didn’t know if it people have always tried to be clean or I just made that up lol but reading this made me remember that ancient Egyptians used to rise their mouths with piss cause they thought it cleaned their teeth…. I like how the liver king literally doesn’t cook any of his meat. that’s sarcastic of course, because people as much as thousands of years ago had stoves or at least used campfires to cook their meat. So him saying that his “Ancestors“ didn’t cook any of their food is completely incorrect. that is, unless he went back 100,000 years where nobody had much intelligence and didn’t know how to cook.
I think by ancestors he means early humans. Who didnt always cook their food. And they were smart. That being said, they still cooked their meat sometimes
We started cooking meat way further back than 100,000 years. Think more like at least 1 million years ago. Eating cooked meat played a major role in the evolution of modern man.
Humans began cooking at least 400,000 years ago and possibly as far back as 1.8 million. We've been cooking so long it has literally affected our evolution - we are not meant to eat *only* raw food anymore because we've actually adapted, genetically, to eating food that's been cooked.
@@case3474 isn’t evolution so fucking rad? Thinking about what we’ll be like in a few hundred-thousand years is a head trip. What we know in the present as normal could be considered primal and weird in the future.
also the fact that they had no hygiene, people have been bathing since forever, even animals bathe. Monkeys literally groom each other and pick their teeth.

Liver is incredibly good for you. A lot of older American pop culture references kids being forced to eat liver actually, but it seems to have died out here sometime in the mid/late 20th century. Idk why
Yeah same, I'm Chinese and we eat a lot of organs that some people might think is "gross" but it's not. Except we cook it properly and put spices and herbs on it rather than just... maple syrup?!?!
His schtick about ancestors is so weird. I mean, have we forgotten how much the discovery of fire was essential for our evolution? People have nearly always cooked their meat. Shoes are also ancient, as soon as people figured out how to make them, they did. Our ancestors weren't dumb.
I know. It's nice to reconnect with your roots, nature, etc and everything but there's a reason our ancestors eventually developed these things and stuck to them. You don't have to go to the extremes he does to reap benefits whatsoever
The First human ancestor to consume bone marrow was Homohabilis who populated the Earth about 1.5 Million years ago. He also didn’t use fire yet, so this seems to be the Generation the liver king is taking inspiration from. For him our ancestors didn’t wear shoes etc. because they hadn’t even discovered them yet not because they chose to reject them
This man owns machine guns, jet skis and a hyperbaric chamber, yet he pretends that stoves don’t exist and that sleeping on hard wood is a good idea. The duality of man
It’s possible that they use some sort of “natural” tooth cleaning tool, like miswak/chew sticks I suppose? “Biological dentists” are also called “holistic dentists” and I’m sure there is a large amount of variation in how much they use actual science-based treatments, just like with “holistic doctors” (some of which just incorporate holistic treatments in addition to modern medicine, while others advocate batshit crazy things while eschewing scientifically-proven treatments and medications completely).
To be fair, I don’t know if only meat causes the “acid attacks”, so maybe you wouldn’t need to brush on a 100% meat diet. The MAPLE SYRUP however… You definitely need to brush out the sugars. It’s incredible he doesn’t do fruit or veggies but syrup is fine lmaooo
What you and Kurtis have concluded totally about "weird" lifestyles like billionaires and hyper-health nuts: meditation away from distractions is nice.
The Liver King actually seems kind of wholesome in a very, very strange way. I started watching this not really knowing what to expect and I ended quite surprised (in a good way). I also think it’s pretty neat that even though you were uncomfortable and weirded out with many concepts you tried them anyways and pushed through
I really like how he seems so nice about people who are not about his lifestyle! I saw someone ask him about vegans and he pretty much said they are just as badass it's just a different lifestyle. Which I've never seen people who are marketing a lifestyle be respectful of other life choices. Made me respect him!
I knew a guy who is into this whole same kind of lifestyle, used to pay him weekly to be my private workout coach and use his equipment like sledgehammer to a tire and pulling a sled, etc. I wouldn't even be surprised if they know each other, tbh. One thing about this lifestyle is that they are all about family and respect, so they can definitely be wholesome. The issue I had with my friend is that he went beyond being passionate about certain things but to the point of like denying science (like Liver King with the cell phones and tuning into earth's biorhythms kinda woo stuff). It gets to be obnoxious when you get told you have to do X, Y, or Z if you want to make any more progress because that was never part of the package, and when you refuse to take that next step, just like a cult, they alienate you and make you feel like your entire friendship was a lie. I think that's the key takeaway here: yes, some of his shit works and is smart, but some of it is cultish.
@@nationalhamleague5352 no? I’m kinda confused by your comment tbh. I would never partake in the Liver King’s lifestyle, I was just saying he was kinda wholesome
Not that I really have a complete perspective on the guy, but the Liver King seems to want to live like an animal more than any particular human stage of development, particularly any that had a desirable lifestyle. Like vikings, Greeks, Romans, etc all had SOME level of hygiene they maintained.
I think its actually a scam i dont think he follows his own tenets because some of the “ancestor” stuff is really inaccurate not to mention not actually healthy
I was gonna say, while I don’t have a problem with the dude himself, his information seems very pseudoscience-y to me. At times, impractical and unnecessary for most people. I respect that he wants to be healthy, and that he wants to empower other people to be more conscious of their health, but I feel he could do more to research things in terms of more legitimate sciences.
Not to mention meat was not our entire diet and we were more of foragers as cavemen. Even as societies developed meat was cooked and mainly eaten by royalty. It doesn't seem like he's done a lot of research and it's mainly pseudoscience. The doctor also mentioning all you're getting is vitamin A and bad cholesterol shows a glaring gap of lack of nutrients.
he's clearly trying to be "cavemen"/"hunter-gatherer"/"neolithic"-era, not just a mere couple thousand years ago. Try twenty thousand. That doesnt excuse how wack his ideas are, but its weird everyone seems to think he's talking about the medieval or classical period.
Danny, it might make you feel better (watching the workout portion) to know that there's no natural way for the liver king to look the way he does as far as muscles. He's not obtaining that just from working out, that's not how our bodies are made, no matter how hard you workout. From the way his muscles are proportions, the odd bloaty stomach with abs placed on top, etc. he's most definitely using steroids or something. In which case even if he's not working out he'll still be able to build (or maintain) more muscle than you ever would naturally when doing his workouts.
He's definitely on steroids. Claims natty, but I can promise you someone his age, that supposedly trains twice a day, and maintains that body composition/fat percentage year round is most certainly on steroids
Someone eating this diet doing such strenuous exercise would be skinny as hell. They’d have muscle but would in no way be this jacked. His body is definitely not natural.
@@Karmag3 yeah he's 100% on human growth hormone, HGH not only causes your muscles to gain mass but your organs, giving you the iconic HGH stomach that LK has, you can also see this gut to the most extreme end on Kali Muscle. I'm not even alleging this, I'm absolutely saying he is without a shadow of a doubt on HGH, the only natural way to get that same level of organ growth is gigantism, which he clearly doesn't have. He's also probably doing a cycle of oral testosterone and clenbuterol which would account for the insanely low level of body fat he has, but I'm less certain of that.

Just fyi beef liver is the strongest (absolute worst) tasting liver. Even in pate they use pork liver.
Patterrz! Interesting seeing you here
As an anthropology major I just want to mention that even by the most aggressive estimates of when humans began being notably different from animals, we have never chosen to eat raw meat.

@Clyde Wellington so to be clear you think 5g causes cancer because ehh cancer rates are up slightly? How did people get cancer before 5g then, should be a world without scary cancer. People are living longer, of course cancer rates would be up, older people are much more likely to get cancer. It’s good to be in nature
It’s good to push yourself
It’s good to move your body often
It’s good to eat nutritious food.
Things he is not right about:
Everything else, especially the raw food thing. Heat makes many nutrients more bioavailable and is a big part of why we are able to allocate so many calories to the brain instead of the digestive tract.
also good to reflect in silence and be barefoot (for snow or ice I would say only a few seconds a week) (because it helps mantain a rich sensory diet which is very important for stress management. go step on crunchy leaves barefoot . now.)

The fact that we figured out how to cook our food is basically the only reason we are not cave people anymore.
that is only true about vegetables cooking meat doesn't make it easy to digest it just makes it overall safer to eat but if you know the meat is safe raw meat is more nutritious.

@@cyborgXcsun Sounds like something says Lamarck would say. The only reason we a re "de- evolving" Is because we no longer do the whole natural selection thing. We could be as comfortable and worm as we wanted and would still be evolving and getting stronger if we uh... eliminated the weak... like hitler (but less racist). Not a very moral thing to do.
@@cyborgXcsun de-evolution isn’t a thing. we’re still evolving, every species on earth is, it’s just that we’re not constantly getting killed by our environment and so we don’t have the kind of environmental stressors that encourage mutation and evolution in specific and more obvious directions. there really isn’t much of a difference biologically between a modern day human and a human from 10,000 years ago, except some mild environmental factors like jaw strength that you’d see in a meat heavy diet, and in fact do see in tribes who still live that way. we’re not becoming weaker with each generation, in fact we’re just maintaining a stasis pattern if anything, because we’ve eliminated most of the struggles humanity had faced for thousands of years. and that’s not a bad thing

for real. they look at the liver king like "bro we died for you to eat cooked meat and have medical access for your children"
The ironic part is is that we are living better NOW than any medieval king back then.
So… people have always been aware of hygiene, this dudes just weird.
Yeah dude seems super nice but his ideas are more based on popular conceptions rather than an actual fact-supported attempt to re-create the living conditions+lifestyle of ancient human ancestors

Danny is smart. Not only did he get a video out of this, but he also got 10lbs of free dog food for his doggo. Respect.
Tbf if you know what you are doing, you have cooked a good meal out of those staff.
@@skyeye61 oh yeah I’d be shocked if he didn’t cook a lot of that up and use it in meals. Cooked and seasoned, or just used as an ingredient, liver isn’t that bad.

I’m Chinese and we actually eat a lot of pork liver, especially after having your period when you’re low in iron. The only difference from the liver king is that it’s not raw
Thank you for this tip. Will try
im low iron I'm definitely going to look into this
Liver is incredibly good for you.
Really? I’m Chinese and I’ve never eaten pork liver before, I’ll try it next time on my period, thanks for the tips!
@@CML-rl1rx Dude's just LARPing as a cave man for internet points. I bet at one point he's probably had a Viking phase too lmao
The First human ancestor to consume bone marrow was Homohabilis who populated the Earth about 1.5 Million years ago. He also didn’t use fire yet, so this seems to be the Generation the liver king is taking inspiration from. For him our ancestors didn’t wear shoes etc. because they hadn’t even discovered them yet not because they chose to reject them
Well, this aged well. Great video none the less.
the ancient tradition of our ancestors: taking massive amounts of steroids

His wife is a 'biological dentist', and he doesn't brush his teeth...? what
he hasn’t been able to touch a single toothbrush ever since his dear wife died in afghanistan 😔🙏
Biological Dentist, as in Natural Dentistry, as it nothing
To be fair, I don’t know if only meat causes the “acid attacks”, so maybe you wouldn’t need to brush on a 100% meat diet. The MAPLE SYRUP however… You definitely need to brush out the sugars.
It’s incredible he doesn’t do fruit or veggies but syrup is fine lmaooo
"Biological dentist" is horseshit.

🤢
You guys would fall for just about any scam if they're 'nice and wholesome' huh
I respect that he wants to be healthy, and that he wants to empower other people to be more conscious of their health, but I feel he could do more to research things in terms of more legitimate sciences.
my god, he's a furry!
“Once Laura was done laughing at me…” lmao I can imagine
my favourite part was danny whispering “i can’t get it up there” to the gym owner before going to get lighter weights 😭
I can't imagine how chaotic it must be to live with Danny when he does this kind of shit
imagine what it’s like living with Liver King
He slept on the ground for one night stood outside for 4 minutes ate a few chunks of meat and lifted a few weights, I doubt it was that jarring
@@FrancisR420 I would jar at myself if I did those things lol.
It looks like his muscles are literal implants.
I was thinking his stomach looked suspicious
@@Karmag3 yeah he's 100% on human growth hormone, HGH not only causes your muscles to gain mass but your organs, giving you the iconic HGH stomach that LK has, you can also see this gut to the most extreme end on Kali Muscle. I'm not even alleging this, I'm absolutely saying he is without a shadow of a doubt on HGH, the only natural way to get that same level of organ growth is gigantism, which he clearly doesn't have. He's also probably doing a cycle of oral testosterone and clenbuterol which would account for the insanely low level of body fat he has, but I'm less certain of that.
yo cant wait for part 2 where danny takes steroids
