@@bluevioletandlilac Yeah like its not cool that he does steroids and lies but it's not as bad as some other things on here but the bragging kinda makes it feel disingenuous it definitely gives the vibe he's only making the apology to get people to back off and he's not actually sorry for lying which is shitty...
While I was watching this video my grandpa walked in and said : "oh you are on Skype with a friend , I won't interrupt" and I am just sitting here laughing my ass off
My Grandpa came in ones when I actually was on Skype and then told grandma "The poor boy finally completely lost his mind. Now that he's even talking to that box!" Grandparents are so adorable. Miss them every day.
Yeah, he’s a guy who’s 45 approaching his 50s and his prime years are past him and he’s trying extend those years with steroids. I think it’s more of a pride thing, like he believes that he can still look better than guys half his age (which is true, he looks better than 99.9% of men). But In reality it’s perfectly fine for your physique to get worse as you age that’s what’s supposed to happen.
true as shit i'm non binary but i was raised a man, and i've struggled with bulimia for years and years, and mostly got made fun of rather than helped if anyone found out
@@Solznmid he looks better? Nah, he looks unnatural. There is nothing attractive or good looking about a man who takes steroids and looks like a blob of muscle. You may be into this weirdly muscled look but it does not mean that the rest of us are. And it mostdef does not make this man look better than all the other men. Wtf bro
Yes, you're right. A lot of people don't give it as much attention when it's about men, though that's in part also the fault of men with fragile masculinities influencing other men into thinking they shouldn't have feelings...
I don’t really get how the liver king thinks he’s helping with the issue of low self esteem. One of the main things that cause stuff like that is seeing people online selling their lifestyle by lying to make it seem attainable. He’s making money off of the exploitation of people who he claims to sympathize with
He's one of the most miserable people I've ever seen. I don't want advice from someone who is so utterly lost. All that money, a family, and the body he's been obsessed with achieving and he's still deeply unhappy.
I mean he absolutely could've deluded himself into thinking he's helping and still have low self-esteem - he just needs to have very low self-awareness. Human beings are very hypocritical a lot of the time.
He even called Danny “Primal Danny” but it was all a lie 😭 Edit: I see we’ve all come to agreement that Danny is still Primal Danny no matter how many steroids the lying king took
It really was so fucked to be like "guys I had extreme body dysmorphia and that's why I abused steroids 😢 that's also why I started a business to sell supplements and a lifestyle brand that's unhealthy using my roided out body as an example to prey on men with body image issues :((((("
Fr, whether he does or does not have body dysmorphia isn't super important because either way he's feeding into the problem & getting money from it while doing it as well.
It's a mental condition, it has nothing to do with what you actually look like. People with eating disorders also don't see themselves in the mirror accurately which is why they do what they do regardless of their current appearance. He claims to have some deep insecurities, and considering you're not in his brain, you shouldn't claim that he's bullshitting. You can emphasize with jacked people too ya know, they're still human beings.
I haven't thought about this in a while but I was rewatching this video and it kind of clicked. I totally believe this guy has dysmorphia about his body, and I absolutely sympathize with that, but it only makes his lies more frustrating. It didn't really strike me as such an issue until I realized how much the ancestral lifestyle thing is a product he's selling. It makes me think (as an example), a woman who goes through weight loss treatments like surgery and medication, and then turns around and starts selling a diet on the implication that if you do it you'll look like her. It just extra sucks that he presumably understands body image issues and decided to sell a lie to guys like him anyway.
The fact that Danny has every right to feel personally betrayed by the Liver King and could easily just be like "yeah he's a p.o.s." but instead chooses to throw in concern for his well-being is one of the many reasons I love Danny
@@corielldoghc most people actually don’t know what sort of physique is possible without steroids. It’s just not the sort of thing that the average person is aware of, even though it’s sort of basic knowledge.
this series has been an emotional rollercoaster. like damn danny and liver king went from enemies to lovers and then back to enemies quicker than a tiktok-approved YA novel.
@@redwizxrd no but i do watch danny through his window all day and judging from all the crying and meat punching he does in his free time (when he buys raw liver and punches it into a pulp) he seems quite upset :(
He never said he doesn't actually live like that i think he does i just think he used to get as jacked as he is you still have workout like a demon to get that physique
Honestly the care and kindness in which Danny handles the subject in this video is really touching. Especially because he knows the liver King is probably going to see it / watch it and hear his words directly. Well done Greg. The advice was straightforward and constructive.
It makes sense that the gym trainer not only realized he was on steroids, but warned you without you asking- there’s a lot of misinformation about health due to beauty standards. I’m sure she gets people all the time trying to achieve unrealistic expectations like that, so she needs to tell them off the bat that they’re not going to get that physique without steroids.
Liver King may have self esteem issues, but the way he presents it in his apology is ridiculous. He did steroids for the people who harm themselves due to self esteem issues. He then told those people to buy his stuff so they could be big like him. He knowingly set an impossible standard and preyed upon vulnerable people to make a quick buck. This apology is just damage control for his reputation, he's an asshole.
@@fartyturd4084no, apologies are because you think it’s time to come clean about it, also if you’re genuinely sorry?? do you apologize to your friends so they don’t think lower of you or do you apologize because you actually are sorry lmao
@@fartyturd4084 depends on what you mean by damage control. in a sincere, genuine apology the damage you'd want to control/amend is the harm you've caused other people; in a bad, self-serving apology the only damage you care about fixing is that which you've done to your own reputation.
my dad used to be a body builder and still works out and has told me about how he sees himself. he says he‘s seen himself as “skinny” or “small” (he’s definitely not) and that’s part of why he works out still. he also said a lot of guys works out because of body issues. i don’t think it’s brought up nearly enough.
Fr my father used to be the same and then got injured. It sucks to watch a parent go thru that. I think there should be more awareness to mens body dysmorphia
Okay but thank you so much for addressing that, my ex was on steroid and god damn gorgeous and nothing was ever enough and the steroids, mental illnesses and body dysmorphia led him to suicide , no one ever talks about the worst thing that can happen
I'm so sorry and I hope someday we talk at least a bit more about men struggling with their body image and needing to be perfect without making them feel bad about being vulnerable. I'm so sorry you had to go trough this
This is one of the more important videos you’ve made Danny. It’s completely hypocritical for him to bring up suicide rates, imply it’s because of people’s dissatisfaction and insecurities, and then paint himself as the cure for it when he himself promotes unrealistic standards.
yep, it felt like he only brought up suicide rates to deflect from what he did wrong. If he actually cared about mens mental health connected to body image issues he would push therapy and healthy coping mechanisms, not a ridiculous lifestyle and workout routine while lying about the results and secretly taking a bunch of steroids. What he does would only harm mens body image issues, hes not helping anyone and bringing up suicide rates like that is fucking gross
Yeah, he has most definitely worsened the problem! Promoting a life for gains that can’t be achieved, he is part of the problem. If his mission was to lower suicide and mental insecurity rates, he epically failed
I've always loved bodybuilding (as a spectator obviously, I'm a couch potato) but you really get the sense of how much body dysmorphia runs in these kind of communities. Liver King's original email is about "all the stubborn fat on his back and love handles" and he sends photos and he looks exactly like he does now. He was already taking three times the normal amount of steroids.
It sucks how much beauty and strengthening cultures take advantage of peoples internalised fatphobia and self esteem issues, especially if you are fat/plus-size
As someone with anorexia, Danny's points at the end were so validating. I see disordered body issues in the Liver King. Remember exercise can absolutely be unhealthy if done to excess or for the wrong reasons.
the first reply is referring to the commentor saying "i see disordered body issues in the Liver King." personally don't agree with the reply, but yeah.
mood. people send d*th thr*ts to teenage girls for talking frankly about the illness they live with, but shower gym bros with praise for putting their obviously disordered behaviour on tiktok. a woman saying Anything about anorexia is "glorifying" it and she's evil, but a man can post video of himself fainting and bonkers WEIADs and he gets encouraged. which is an awful situation for both of those people, because men end up thinking its normal and never getting help
“I hate my body because of unrealistic expectations” *takes steroids and then says you can look like him (insanely shredded) by spending money on him and eating raw nutsack*
Its kinda sad how Brian pretended eating raw meat and sleeping on a wooden plank will make you absolutely ripped, but its even sadder that Danny tried it
@@TBK7913 He probably somewhat believes what he is saying, and this lifestyle probably makes him happier. Doesn't make him healthier though; the steroids fucked up his body permanently
Can we just take a moment and appreciate how Danny is still rather respectful to the liver king? Especially the part about body issues. He comes across as so sincere and that he wants the best for the man. This is a very respectful take on an exposure like this
I think that Danny updating us about the Liver King is going to be a series in a short time and I'm absolutely here for it. Go get 'em, the Liver Prince!
Coming from someone who has always had major issues with self esteem and body image, thank you for being sympathetic on that front. It's so true that no matter how you look, body issues will plague you if you don't address your mental state. I don't wish it on anyone and I hope that if you've ever had to deal with that, Danny, you have been able to move on from it. This is one of those videos that made me want to give all the Gregs a big hug.
yeah I agree. all jokes aside, I'm glad Danny addressed that part which is huge in the body and fitness community where so much is connected to looking a certain way no matter how ppl try to act like its not. I have my own issues with that for sure and I wish all of Gregs the best success with accepting us as we are, or at least most of the time.
that's why I hate when people lie about being on steroids. obviously people want to look like that, and it's unachievable. so when people try to get that kind of physique and can't get there, I'm sure it does numbers on their mental health. I wouldn't be surprised if that has caused ED's in a lot of people.
It's conflicting for me because I have empathy for this dude, but I'm also just floored. The messages and practices this dude put out through his platform could lead to people (particularly uninformed, vulnerable young men who make up a decent amount of his demographic) to develop eating disorders and other unhealthy habits.
The one thing that truly bothers me about the apology is the statement that he never expected the amount of attention he got when he actively sought out attention. I truly feel for him, insecurity is a hard beast to defeat. That does not excuse lying to sell a lifestyle/products. All we ask for is transparency. Honestly, his story about his battles with his views on his body are more endearing and moving than him lifting weights and eating e. coli.
That's absolutely how I feel as well. It just seems wrong to have tried to sell one's lifestyle and product lines through a fabricated image. Fine, I'll accept a fabricated image if it makes you feel so much better. The guy's gone through hard times, and that's alright because I can't take that away from him because I'm also human. However I'm sure that the next step after this apology (and I don't know if he's done this or not by now) should be to reformat his channel to never mention the 'liver king' lifestyle in a way that tries to promote it or put it up ever again, and to never bring in his products as part of the lifestyle that he's trying to portray. I think he's genuinely an 'alright' guy, but he's more aligned with a lot of 'alright' guys who find a little success in the business industry and get carried away and lose a bit of their morals as they go. Out of all situations where public figures have 'lied' about something, this is what I consider a salvageable situation. I truly hope the guy figures his life out, he seems like a good dude, I just hope that his reflections on life also include the dubious nature of his past activities as an influencer.
I remember watching the iconic Disney movie The Lying King for the first time. The part where The Liver King got tossed over a cliff was so sad, I’m still crying.
best take on this situation imo. great points from Danny on insecurity and it actually helped me a little like the point “changing things exteriorly wont change how you feel about yourself” as someone with struggled with EDs its really refreshing to hear something like that rather than being belittled for it
I like how Danny had some genuine life advice for Liver King that wasn't all just for lols he seriously reached out and gave some decent advice in hopes to help LK find enlightenment and I can appreciate that.
Yeah, they just sell syringes at places like CVS, Walgreens. Lots of medical conditions need them, like diabetes, and they’re also readily available to reduce disease among drug users. Also, it’s weird Danny just accepts Liver King was only doing steroids, despite the emails saying otherwise. LK also shows signs of Palumboism. C
He’s not angry. He just feels betrayed, his trust was completely thrown away. He will never trust another Brian ever again. He needs to avenge not only himself, but the entire world. We are all counting on Danny, he will do what’s right and DEFEAT LIAR KING ONCE AND FOR ALL!!! RAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
I think it’s because he saw through the apology down to who he really is and wanted to talk about the underlying issues more so than his bullshit excuses
@@xxxstellarxxx I’m glad that he made the video somewhat positive, but if the liver kings steroid use was only about his insecurity there wouldn’t be a problem. He didn’t lie because of being insecure he lied to make money off people who were insecure which is pretty gross
I’ve been in and out of treatment for an eating disorder and body dymorphia and things with the Liver King always felt very off to me but this whole situation very much proved it, obviously I can’t diagnose him but he clearly has some issues with body image and possibly food and exercise that he needs to address. Thank you for the sweet message near the end there, Danny, you’re right, changing your appearance isn’t truly going to fix things in the long term.
Thank you, I feel a lotta sympathy for him… when he talks about his routines outside of promoting the brand he just doesn’t seem happy. Every time he is candid he says it’s hellish. I know that’s just part of working out, sometimes, but he just seems to be really pushing a limit.
I hope his kids are okay, the fact that he said that they were eating the same stuff really worried me. That would mean they aren't eating things like porridge, juice, fruit and pasta etc, normal things kids should be eating for a balanced diet.
I feel bad for the guy, but goddamn did he real have to monetize his body dysmorphia?? How many other people did he influence into thinking this way of viewing yourself is "normal".... I hope he gets help and I hope he tries to *actually* help the people who listened to him, instead of just selling them suppliments
Honestly small kudos to him for not doubling down and straight up just admitting he lied. Like obviously what he did isn't great or anything, but after the last decade or so hearing someone say "yes I lied" feels like a breath of fresh air
There's a guy going around asking people if they're natty on youtube shorts and basically every dude is truthful while women will look like caveman and be like "Nah" in a deep voice

I feel like the liver king was so close to self-awareness here, but he doesn't quite reach it. He talks about how his insecurity drove him to do all this, without ever making the final leap that maybe the reason why it hasn't worked is because insecurity and anxiety is often detached from external reality. if you aren't kind and accepting toward yourself in all your potential forms, then no change to your body is going to give that to you.
Exactly. He came as close as he could to taking responsibility for the damage he's cause people by lying and encouraging them to live a lifestyle that's a complete scam without actually taking responsibility. He just used the "I have mental issues" cop out. And the worst part is that it's going to work. People are going to accept it and he's going to get away with setting up his fans to fail. He gave them advice that he KNEW would never work, and would even be counterproductive, just for greed. And yet people are going to feel sorry for him, not the people he convinced to live a lie
Danny started 2022 asking us to hold him to not talking about weird internet trends and ended the year talking about body positivity and mental health. Both brought on by the same guy. What a year.
I actually really respect Danny for kind of straight forwardly talking to liver king in this video in a way that seems genuinely concerned for him. I think it shows Danny's heart a lot. This is why I like Danny because I genuinely think he's a down to earth guy and I appreciate that quality in him
The Liver King is the equivalent of the Kardashians, denying their plastic surgeries. It's so sad to see these people try to achieve impossible "beauty" standars that just endanger their audience and themselves.
When I heard about the news on Liver King, the first thing I immediately thought of was you Danny. The betrayal, heartbreak, I can't imagine how much suffering you must be going through. Head high, Primal!
For real, I deal with self esteem issues, my doctor suspects I have body dysmorphia, and that really made me feel better. He brought up points I hadn't thought of before.
i never expected a video talking about how some jacked guy lied to make me cry. the way you talked about how changing your body won't fix everything made me really happy, especially with growing up as a fat kid and having everyone tell me that i need to change my body to be happy so thank you danny
Not to be that guy but mental health issues shouldn't stop you from having a healthy functional body. It's a right imo to be healthy. But maybe because I don't have that right, I can't understand how can anyone reject it and want to be fat and unhealthy to be happy.

@@رزيئة not the fucking point my dude. I know your an health nut and you want people to be healthy aswell. But that's not the fucking point. I'm kinda of two minds about this whole thing. On one hand, it's a blatant violation of privacy to leak this guy's emails, but he's also an individual who has built a brand entirely based upon his body and personal life. So, he does have some responsibility to be transparent. And you're absolutely right that there's some deep underlying mental issues here that are not being addressed by simply changing his exterior to what he believes it should be. @@DeathnoteBB it was except to the most vulnerable of his audience... Aka the people he sells his products too. (people with body issues and /or teenagers)
At first I thought this wasn't that bad of an apology-video, because he wasn't sitting on the floor next to his bed, in a baggy hoodie, eyes red from crying, beard in a messy bun, but then he went the "this was an experiment to raise awareness about [insert bad thing that is happening on our planet]"-route.... Still waiting to see a genuine apology video like "Hey, I did this because I wanted fame and money."
See, the thing is, I don't think he did this for fame and money, and neither did Danny. Well, I mean, he did it for fame and money too, but he even says in the video that he was already rich before this. It genuinely seems like he has some deep body image issues, and felt like taking steroids would fix his body. This guy would still be rich and totally jacked even without steroids.
Honestly Danny thank you for being so honest and real about body issues. I am tired of people excusing it as a society and normalizing it - changing your body might change your health or make you feel physically better which is great, but it will not change how you feel about yourself. You shouldn’t accept yourself only if you have a “perfect body”. You are beautiful just the way you are, as cheesy as that sounds to say. Super important message!
Mental health is just as important as physical health. This guy needs a therapist, not more steroids. But I think being in the spotlight will just make it even more tough for him to want to get the help he really needs; it would ruin his entire brand (though I wonder how many deals he is getting cut from now because of this)
No, exercise is extremely important, you don't need to be a top tier athlete. Being a little chunky is one thing but don't be fat, love yourself for things you can't change, like height, facial features and skin tone.
As someone who also doesn’t feel right in the head until I’ve put in some physical work in the morning, thank you for inspiring me to work toward becoming a supervillain.
Kudos for that heart-felt review and sorta response. I hope he watches this. You are a very kind person for caring for the well-being of this man. Too many people just resort to anger any time they hear something that they don't want to hear or affects their beliefs. Love your channel man! I know this is older, but keep 'em comin'!!!
My favorite thing about his "sorry I got caught" video was that he brought up doing this for all the thousands who unalive themselves. Because when they do his program and are never able to reach that physic no matter how hard they try, that'll fix their self esteem and mental health 🤦♀️ Which is ironic because his low self esteem was the very reason he said he went on steroids.
Yeah, right? That was really shitty of him. He did it for himself and his _own_ self esteem issues, not for anyone else (and even then, he didn't actually put in the hard work required for that kind of issue.. he tried to take the easy way, the shortcut. Not saying I've never done that though lol). Idk why people always do this, making a good apology is not that hard. You just say you messed up, you know you messed up, you feel horrible about it, and you're willing to do whatever it takes to make sure you never make that mistake ever again. That's it. Don't try to minimize it, don't try to rationalize it, don't try to tell people they're "misinterpreting".
"Unalive" don't be fucking immature when talking about suicide. Say what it is, "suicide" or "they killed themselves". No one who has someone close to them commit suicide wants to hear some dumb soy drinking jerkoff refer to their act as "unaliving themselves" Jesus Christ.
Please don't use "unalive" as a euphemism for suicide. As someone who's been personally affected by that, it's really annoying and in my opinion ultimately harmful. I know maybe you're thinking about the youtube algorithm or something probably censoring something with the word "suicide" in it, but I'm not sure that applies to comments, and also even if it did, I feel an obligation to stand up against that kind of harmful censoring. It just feels a little insulting and infantilizing, not to be mean to you or blame you or anything like that, just trying to inform.
@@penguinsrbirds2 People use it because a lot of channels have key words they don't allow in their comment sections and the whole comment will get deleted. It's not a slight or an offense to survivors. Sometimes it's the only way to talk about it by having to use different words, unfortunately. It's just how it is on these platforms. And if someone is a survivor and needs to use a different word, let them, if that's where they're at in the process. If you need to say it, say it but it's already a difficult enough subject that we don't need to be policing how people discuss their trauma. If a word is triggering to say for someone, that's their journey.
As a man with heavy mental issues relating to body image myself, I find it kinda sad that his reaction to low self-esteem is torturing himself trying to reach unattainable ideal, and not going through therapy and realising he's enough the way he is and he doesn't need to change to be happy. Of course training and bettering yourself is generally good, but there are limits when it can become unhealthy
I actually really appreciate your points you bring up towards the end. It is extremely important to figure what’s going on within you before you start putting harmful chemicals into your body and over pumping yourself with any sort of hormone can just be detrimental to one’s brain and development no matter how old. I just hope he’s doing a little better after coming out with the truth and that he finds what he needs to within to make him feel better. He’s actually really nice from what I’ve seen so
I personally think lying through his teeth to sell supplements to people with self esteem issues disqualifies him from being "really nice". It sucks that he's suffering those issues, but that cannot excuse exploiting insecure people by promoting a dangerous lifestyle.
@@ajeenius7437 I understand that for sure and I agree. But technically, anyone with eyes and a brain would be able to tell this guy was on steroids. Everyone has lied before but that doesn’t mean they’re not nice. People go to Sunday services and get lied to during a sermon. People go to therapy and get lied to. People get lied to by their own parents, significant others, children, etc, but it doesn’t make them a bad person. This guy hasn’t hurt or harmed anyone by lying about his INSANE steroid intake. It clearly has mainly affected him.
Man actively lied for years and took advantage of vulnerable people to sell his products then when he was called out he tried to guilt people into being on his side by hiding behind suicidal men. @@ajeenius7437 the only defense I can think of is that perhaps up until a certain point, he didn't realize how vulnerable his audience was Cuz he seems very vulnerable to the same stuff given the self esteem issues, but I'm not sure he'd recognize that he's vulnerable, ya know?
i really appreciate danny addressing the underlying mental health issue that Liver King both experiences and (advertently or not) perpetuates. i am obviously not a psychiatrist, but as someone who has been diagnosed with body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), i think Liver King displays a lot of its symptoms. obsession with food intake/diet, insecurities about physical flaws that are invisible to everyone else, seeking out invasive and expensive medical procedures to fix those "flaws", and over-exercising (sometimes as a means of self-harm), are all very characteristic of BDD. i know i have personally experienced all four. but, while i have empathy for Liver King's mental health struggles, it is unacceptable to advertise this extremely unhealthy mindset and body as attainable or even remotely positive. i now completely avoid exercise, diet, and lifestyle content for this very reason. even if it is not as extreme as Liver King, so much of it is BDD served up to audiences on a platter.

I feel for his self image and esteem issues, and it's actually really refreshing that he's admitting that he took steroids as a crutch to fix that problem. Now if he can just recognize that he'll need to work on his mental health through therapy or self reflection this could actually be a great move towards redemption
It was a deflection so he wasn't criticized for profiting off of lies anf vulnerable young men. If he really wanted to he he could have donates money and lived a clean and honest lifestyle. There are tons of bodybuilders that take steroids that are very open about it so they don't mislead those that admire them. Nobody really minds because they are honest about it. Most people take steroids for that reason, like look at zyzz. He was small and skinny, so he tried changing that, and once he got to a certain point he took steroids

Legitimately thank you for bringing up body image and the role that plays in all this- I work in eating disorder treatment, and there’s a *massive* problem that almost is never talked about with men and body image, and I feel like it’s even more stigmatized in guys who are more fixated on getting muscular than being thin. Like, the lengths that he goes to to try to achieve this body ideal sound really taxing and hard on him (financially, physically, and emotionally), and I’m really happy that you called out that aspect of things in a way that seemed really genuine and empathetic.
i am deeply sorry for the pain you must be going through. that all of us gregs must be going through. the fact that the lying king would even think for a second to lie to you. this is a dark dark day. i keeled over in shock when i saw this notification, and i still am. weak from the horrible retched news. the liver king will no longer liver on in my heart as the so called hero he was. don’t be afraid to weep. don’t be afraid to question everything. we are human. probably.
Thanks for turning this into a conversation about mental health. Body image is something people struggle with and I really hope Liver King sees this and something really positive can come out of this.
Danny, this apology wasn't an apology at ALL. He literally never took accountability or apologized, he just lied, tried to push a new story, and tried to get people feeling sorry for him.
I’m pleasantly surprised at how insightful this vid is. I feel like we don’t talk enough about the pressure that a lot of men feel to look and act a certain way. I feel like it can create a cycle as well. Insecure people get a platform, preach their own self doubts as if it’s fact, and in turn create even more insecure people.
Even when Danny is talking about an serious topic and being totally respectful he still managing to be like naturally funny. He managed to make a fun video as well as being reasonable for the guy lying but also for his self-esteem issues, that's what I call a great quality content.
We talked about this guy in my anthropology class when we learned about ancient humans and one kid asked if his life was similar to the ancient human beings. The professor looked up liver king and flat out said,"Oh he's definitely faking it, who would actually believe him" and the kid who asked looked pretty embarrassed. After class one day I mentioned the reveal that he was using steroids and how no one was surprised and she had a little laugh on the idea that he thought he could foul people Edit: im not fixing my typo these replies are better than me by building on jokes
See this is why I respect Noel. He is open about how he used steroids and speaks about his reasons and never advocates for it. Yet he still uses the supplements he sells like protein shakes and promotes a good diet. He isn’t doing what the liver king did where he says “you’ll look like me if you buy my shit” he just says “do the work to make yourself the better version YOU want to be. You won’t look like me because of my steroid usage.”
His "apology" video is one of the worst I've ever seen. He talked about men's mental health as if he didn't completely lie to his fans, most of which are probably men, and cause them unreasonable expectations about what you can look like if you just eat in a certain way and train a lot
this is exactly how i feel! what an awful scummy thing to take advantage of other people’s insecurities and then act like a victim when people call you out on it. it almost feels like he’s making light of depression
Yeah, pretty twisted apology, especially the part about doing it for the suicidals. I was engaged to a man who ended his life and had body insecurity issues. This dude taking roids wouldn’t have saved him. Steroid use can actually increase suicidal thoughts and actions, so go back to your hidey hole and mainline some raw sausage, caveman.
Hey Danny!! One of my boyfriends is disabled and has been bed bound for some time now. I just wanted to thank you for giving him something he can enjoy. His quality of life is pretty poor most days and it makes me tear up to see him smile and be able to laugh. Even if hes in so much pain. A million times appriciateion from both of us as you've also helped me through a lot of hard family stuff. Take care of yourself! And thank you for giving us something to smile about. ☆
Poly gang? Poly gang! Seriously though. I'm sorry to hear that he's bed bound and in pain, that's awful. It must be nice to have someone by his side to laugh with.
I feel like working out so much to the point that he's crying and passing out, is a form of SH? Since he's saying he's self concious about his body and stuff it feels like a form of... that? Am I crazy? Like if he's putting himself through hell, and saying he's dead afterward, and how much it like hurts him? And he's talking about self unaliving so it's like... I think he needs therapy?
The process of Danny slowly regrowing his hair is replacing the process of Drew’s blue hair fading on the list of reasons I have for needing to watch the Drew-Danny-Kurtis Cinematic Universe™️ videos as soon as they come out if that makes sense.
His insecurities do not excuse any of his behavior. He cares so much for others with insecurities "like him" yet purposely preyed on their insecurities to make money, knowing full well what he was promising them was a lie.
i mean i agree, but i also think you have to be pretty foolish to fall for his marketing. he was always very obviously on steroids. i don’t think his personal life has really anything to do with the scam he’s running. it’s equally bad either way, he’s selling nonsense supplements and telling people to eat raw meat. i just think that’s bad enough on its own i don’t even understand the controversy. he’s a hypocrite AND a scammer? does that make the scamming work? do i even care about his scam? i’m not saying that being gullible or being an easy target means you deserve to be scammed. i just don’t see what’s so different about THIS scam compared to others.
I have been eagerly waiting for Danny’s response ever since I first heard the news. I’d have no idea who this guy was if it wasn’t for Danny, and I’m glad he’s following up!
He doesn’t seem to realize that this isn’t just “darn I thought this guy was natural” he’s literally been scamming people by selling products he claims to have lead to him looking as he does. Blatant lie.
The transparency thing is one of the Biggest Reasons I have issues with the Kardashians. Get plastic surgery, but be transparent about it and stopping trying peddle your wares to insecure people knowing they'll never look like you by taking a vitamin or drinking a special water. You can emphasize with jacked people too ya know, they're still human beings.
its an explanation that he's using as an excuse.

Liver King may have self esteem issues, but the way he presents it in his apology is ridiculous. He did steroids for the people who harm themselves due to self esteem issues. Amen, man.
Yep. Him being incredibly insecure as well
yep, it felt like he only brought up suicide rates to deflect from what he did wrong. FACTS
He was already taking three times the normal amount of steroids.

that's why I hate when people lie about being on steroids. obviously people want to look like that, and it's unachievable. so when people try to get that kind of physique and can't get there, I'm sure it does numbers on their mental health. I wouldn't be surprised if that has caused ED's in a lot of people.

The one thing that truly bothers me about the apology is the statement that he never expected the amount of attention he got when he actively sought out attention. I truly feel for him, insecurity is a hard beast to defeat. That does not excuse lying to sell a lifestyle/products. All we ask for is transparency. Honestly, his story about his battles with his views on his body are more endearing and moving than him lifting weights and eating e. coli.
Absolutely.
Truly
Exactly

This is a wonderful articulate comment and its very timely and helpful, thanks

Not to be that guy but mental health issues shouldn't stop you from having a healthy functional body. It's a right imo to be healthy. But maybe because I don't have that right, I can't understand how can anyone reject it and want to be fat and unhealthy to be happy.

Hopefully, he gets the help he needs and can be more honest from now on.

@@LunatheMoonDragonthat is probably true

i LOVE how Danny is like so forgiving and then BAM he talks about the messages and how he went through hell of the fake routine

Too many people just resort to anger any time they hear something that they don't want to hear or affects their beliefs. Love your channel man! I know this is older, but keep 'em comin'!!!
honestly my favourite part of the apology was him going "i'm rich" multiple times
yeah, that was so weird lmao. like, why even bring that up? makes one question how genuine this apology truly is...

This guy hasn’t hurt or harmed anyone by lying about his INSANE steroid intake. i really appreciate danny addressing the underlying mental health issue that Liver King both experiences and (advertently or not) perpetuates. i am obviously not a psychiatrist, but as someone who has been diagnosed with body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), i think Liver King displays a lot of its symptoms. obsession with food intake/diet, insecurities about physical flaws that are invisible to everyone else, seeking out invasive and expensive medical procedures to fix those "flaws", and over-exercising (sometimes as a means of self-harm), are all very characteristic of BDD. i know i have personally experienced all four. but, while i have empathy for Liver King's mental health struggles, it is unacceptable to advertise this extremely unhealthy mindset and body as attainable or even remotely positive. i now completely avoid exercise, diet, and lifestyle content for this very reason. even if it is not as extreme as Liver King, so much of it is BDD served up to audiences on a platter.
Hope you’re doing well
