    Honestly way quieter than I thought a side exit would be I imagine the catted version would only be a little louder than a straight pipe set up if not the same. Sounds sick tho especially the pops!

    Sounds amazing. It wasn't as loud as i thought it would be. Will you show a video of how this was done with the bumper removed?

    • @StephenBaran
      @StephenBaran  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s surprising quiet when you want it to be. The next time I have the bumper off, I’ll be sure to record how the install works and how it looks with no bumper.

      The flames are a little hard to see from the angle and time of day. You can see plenty of flames from those exhausts (on quite a few customer builds) on the Instagram page @sbtkdeletes

    Why does it sound quieter than a normal jpipe to a cat back exhaust?

    • @StephenBaran
      @StephenBaran  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It could be the material that we use compared to other exhausts companies. It could also be that the sound has less distance to travel and less walls to bounce off of. It is definitely more quiet than you would expect from such a short system. Though it’s fairly quiet at normal cruising speeds, WOT really wakes it up. Especially when paired with an EWG header setup.

  • @BboyADHD
    @BboyADHD 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    How much louder is this compared to a catless exhaust setup?

    • @StephenBaran
      @StephenBaran  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s quite a bit louder. The FA20 is fairly tame on idle but you would hear the major difference under acceleration. Especially with the backfires and pops. The catted variant is a bit more quite at a cruise though.

  • @rsc102
    @rsc102 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey just curious. Did you have any issues with the car throwing lean codes with the side exhaust? Sick build btw

    • @StephenBaran
      @StephenBaran  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you!
      No issues on my end! As long as you’re tuned, you shouldn’t experience issues either. In my situation, I was tuned for a catless full exhaust system and installed the side exit after (without a retune) and haven’t had any changes in performance. No codes, no changes in AFR, no boost changes, etc.

      I’m running the 3 bung, but the 3rd bung is plugged until I get a stand-alone wideband. It’s nice knowing that I have the extra bung waiting lol The 3rd bung comes with a plug when you order it.

    What’s the mod list for me to throw this on my car 🥺

    • @StephenBaran
      @StephenBaran  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You just need to delete or relocate the wiper fluid reservoir and pop a hole in the bumper! A tune s recommended as well.

  • @dominicdireda5347
    @dominicdireda5347 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    should u get the heatplate

    • @StephenBaran
      @StephenBaran  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s entirely up to you. The heatplate helps diffuse some of the heat, prevent bumper melt, as well as help keep a clean appearance after cutting the bumper.

    • @StephenBaran

    When you did the side exit, did the tuner get rid of engine light? I have a veloster turbo and currently going to start building since it’s out of warranty and just sits in my garage cause I use my business vehicle, and was looking to do a side exit fender exhaust, no one in the veloster community has done it,

    • @StephenBaran
      @StephenBaran  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes the tuner handled everything ECU/PCM based. If you’re local to me, I wouldn’t mind building one for you!

      Not bad at all in my opinion. The FA20 is a pretty tame motor. On WOT, with supporting mods, it can get pretty loud. Normal driving isn’t overbearing. Compared to something like a catted Invidia, yes it’s much louder.

    if im all ready pro tuned on a catless setup would this need a retune? or the addition of ewg?

    • @StephenBaran
      @StephenBaran  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m not a tuner but I was tuned for catless prior to installing my side exit, so I installed it and monitored the access port for any strange readings but none occurred. AFR stayed the same, zero knock values, same boost values, so I ran with it. I am also running EWG for the possibility of boost creep though. If you’re already catless and aren’t running EWG, it shouldn’t make much of a difference if you’re catless side exit vs catless j pipe. In my opinion mind you. I’m not a tuner lol

    • @StephenBaran
      @StephenBaran  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Currently, I have mine completely deleted however I plan on making a relocation kit. It will probably be a smaller reservoir that can run the OEM pump, but will be be tucked up and out of the way from the exhaust.

      Who hurt you? 🙃 TPMS isn’t necessary. Fun fact, pre 2007, most cars didn’t come with TPMS. It’s hard to believe the world functioned fine before that system was introduced. The head unit works absolutely amazing actually. I personally haven’t had a single issue with it. Have you had experience with the Dasaita head unit? What’s wrong with the turn signals? Seems pretty functional to me.
      It sounds to me like you’re a Subaru purist. I’m willing to go out on a limb and say you put generic Walmart tires on your car and complain about road noise in your rally car.
