- Hey everyone, thanks for tuning in. I have partnered up with Forged Projects to bring a video showing what the Tomei UEL Header sounds like with 2 different exhaust setups.
The first setup is the Nameless catback exhaust with the Invidia J catless downpipe. We show you idle, revving and drive by.
The second setup is with a Tomei Extreme titanium single exit exhaust.
We will be making a part 2 of this video with some other brand exhaust to give you an idea of how it will sound.

The dual exit sounds so much better. I want the UEL headers so bad. Don't even care for the power loss, the sound is what I want!
it really does add the character to the car. I guess subarus really need the UEL Headers to be a real subi

definitely slower
It's well over 30hp plus it's just super inefficient because the car is a twin scroll setup so and unequal length setup may sound good but thats the only positive. It hurts performance across the board.
@@alexfromia4511 undoubtedly. My stage 2 straight pipe pulls on STIs easily, swapping headers would probably make it a lot closer of a race

The tomei was extra loud
I think that wraspy sound comes from the catless j-pipe / downpipe combo'd with. Still wondering if someone just has the Tomei UEL with Tomei cat back would sound like on a a FA. ( More rumble, less rattle can) ?

@@foraday1 the Tomei will naturally sound like that because of it being Titanium. Titanium always adds a very tinny sound to an exhaust.

@@cdbig9er no it doesn't lmao. A simple exhaust doesn't make a wrx look anything like a civic. And the nameless is crap. Try listening to them in person. I've had each installed on my 2019 wrx.

@@JORDIIMusic was way too raspy for me. Had it for about 7 months. I have a tomei catback now. Also the nameless had considerable drone with I drive the highway a lot and it was bothersome. But to each their own.

@@ethanheinrichs5583 stock sti has a bit of a rev hang also. It's the stock tune for both cars. The fa is worse but neither is great. Get a tune for both platforms to fix it.

This is what a Subaru is supposed to sound like!!! The fact they made these with ELH instead and made them sound like civics just baffles me
because with a twin scroll turbo, theh ELH has better performance than an UEL
Because it’s not just for sound… Much better performance from an EL header.

Man still haven't been able to find a video with a regular exhaust set up. Quad or invidia N1 dual. Something along those lines with mufflers.

FA20’s should’ve came with UEL headers, it just doesn’t sound right the way it comes stock. That’s it, getting mine this summer.

Thanks for your service and thanks for the sound clips. Ever think of running a dry sump pump on your uel setup? I have a 14 STi and wishing to go EL but the dry sump oil pump only fits UEL currently.
Would I need a tune if I do this for my wrx ???

@@journeyyodm6564 Having my own wrx and having had exhaust with and without a resonator, I'd disagree. Resonator made it waaay deeper, killed drone and got rid of the rice rasp.

Tbh it sounds great, but it sounds slower because of the uel... Not hating, this is coming from a stage 1 tune with just an axle back exhaust but it sounds like its holding itself back hardcore

Forgive me, but just general question. My understanding was the FA20 had equal length headers for the twin scroll turbo... was that replaced as well or, and I ask this jokingly, are we just throwing a middle finger to subaru engineers and getting back the boxer rumble?
The only thing they swapped was the headers. The stock equal length headers for the tomei unequal length headers
Hey thank you for the upload...im thinking of getting the Tomei UEL Headers for my WRX, did you notice any spool time difference? HP gains/loses over stock headers? Thank you
@Josh Yates yes thank you for the input however the tomei were specifically made to go on a Twin Scroll, thats why I have questions about spool time and noticeable loses.

I talked to my tuner about these an he said for the ones he’s tuned he hasn’t really seen any issues or loss/gain in power. At least nothing significant anyway

@@midnight_gospel Graham at boosted performance did a tune on these with subi speed and all they changed was unequal length to the grimmspeed equal length and the tomei unequal length lost almost 40hp and some torque and was a bit slower to build boost. The sound is nice but it hurts performance.

You absolutely MUST get the car tuned after installation or you will have problems. Finding someone who can actually tune the car is a whole other challenge.
Sounds great, is it just the Tomei and headers? or is there an aftermarket downpipe?

They are both catless, just swapped the exhausts from the nameless to the tomei.

Some say these headers are bad long term, but are they ok if I’m not always pushing my car?
They actually aren’t bad for the car, we’ve had the headers installed on one of the forged projects shop cars for a little over 15k miles and no issues have come up, and the car is full bolt on e-85 tuned making 400+ to the wheels.

No issues, you do lose a little bit of torque due to the nature of them being in equal length. But the lower torque is actually a benefit as high torque on The fa20 is what puts rods through the block.

Sounds like an hks bov a bypass valve doesn’t make any noise when you rev it like it that only when your shifting

Anything that messes with air or fuel you need a tune...so yesif you want it to run right you need a tune

Yes it’s a WRX. The UEL provides the rumble that is traditional with the Subaru brand.

SummerBRZ you realize how great the FA block cools each cylinder? Thats the reason why the EJ has a cylinder cooling kit, cus the EJs sucked.
