    • @GearAndGuns
      @GearAndGuns  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks man! Hope it does! So rings just help stabilize the hand guard from wobbling. You just insert the flat ring first, the wavy ring second, then the u shaped ring drops in last. You just drop them in. There’s 2 slots on the inner sides of the circle coupling that you need to align with the u shaped ring so that it keeps all your rings in the coupling. The u shaped ring matches the 2 slots on the coupling so make sure you put it in with the u faced upwards toward the barrel and the slots in place. Once you take it apart I think you’ll see what I mean. But you won’t need to install the second flat washer they give. I tried that and it wouldn’t let me get my barrel flush. Best of luck! Let me know if you have anymore questions.

    Did you end up scratching your barrel with the handguard. Sadly I scratched my M4 with the handguard. How tough is the coating on the barrel? Scratches won't rust the barrel will it? I live in Canada.

    • @GearAndGuns
      @GearAndGuns  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I might’ve scratched mine a little. It’s a really tight fit and kind of hard to get on. I’d say it’s pretty tough and wouldn’t worry about it rusting too much. The U.S. marines used the original m4 for many years and they really abused those things. They do have a specific models for more wet environments. If the exterior of the barrel does rust it won’t hurt anything. Unless you have a deep gouge I don’t think it would rust. If it worries you, you can cover it with spray paint or find a specific water proof paint to cover the scratch.

    • @kevincabral5787
      @kevincabral5787 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GearAndGuns I guess... I just coated the entire barrel with G98 gun oil and wiped most of the barrel dry. Just left the scratches with oil and let it sit in my case. It's always the first scratches that hurt the most lol. I guess if it ever does rust somehow, hopefully I can clean the rust off and paint it. Getting a barrel imported into Canada seems to be a pain in the butt if I ever need it replaced. Like you said, it was battle tested so maybe I'm over thinking the scratches the handguard did. What screwed me up was the m loc mount I have on the bottom of the handguard. I should of unscrewed the 2 screws a little so the handguards slides off the barrel easier. That was my screw up... lol.

    • @GearAndGuns
      @GearAndGuns  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kevincabral5787 I would think the coating goes pretty deep and unless you scratched it very deep I don’t think it would rust but there’s always the possibility. Moisture overtime will create rust on a lot of guns without a water resistant coating. If you keep it in a dry place and wipe it down after it gets wet you should be okay. Yeah the first scratches definitely hurt until the gun gets beat up a little lol. Always pisses me off when that happens. But it being battle tested gives me a bit more piece of mind for the overall durability. I’ve only dealt with rust once and it was because I didn’t wipe off my Remington 870 after it got rained on a little. Ended up using steel wool and scraping the rust off then never patched it back up. Without sending it to a shop for a new entire coating, a little touch up paint job might look worse then a small piece of rust but that’s up to what you think. That’s a good idea with unscrewing the screws, not sure if it would seat properly though. Anyways with the hand guard we can only really see the top and end of the barrel so it’s kind of covered. Yeah trying to get a new barrel would be annoying, I’d say that barrel is probably the toughest shotgun barrel you’ll come across. I’ve heard the benellis going upwards of 25k rounds or more.

    Hey man, thank you for your informative video.
    Could you please help me out with an issue I am having?
    I recently bought the Gen 2 hand-guard (the one you are replacing) for my M4 in order to replace the plastic hand-guards and I am havin' trouble to get everything to sit flush.
    Am I correct to assume that those washers where not pre-installed when you bought the gun?
    Cause my M4 has already had those rings in place. Removing them might solve my problem and allow the hand-guard to fit properly but it's hard to say. Regrettably, there are no official installation instructions that I could find and I don't wanna fuck anything up.
    Any suggestions? Hell, could you maybe try to install the OEM hand-guard with the washers in place to check if it would be flush for you?

    • @GearAndGuns
      @GearAndGuns  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No problem. Yes I can. If you look at the rear of the new gen 2 hand guard you have, the part that is supposed to sit flush to the front of the receiver, that should have 2 spiral metal hard springs attached to it on either side of the bottom. They are small. If those are there, you will have to remove all of those circle washers that I installed in this video to use with this hand guard, that are in the circle hand guard retainer attached underneath the barrel. Mine did not come with any of those washers, when the gen 2 hand guard was installed. I had to buy them specifically for this briley hand guard. It’s is a weird hard fit though once you do get those out. Just make sure the circle hand guard retainer is aligned properly with your new hand guard. I had to push down pretty hard on the barrel to get it to seat flush against the receiver because those new small springs are hard. You can use a small 2x4 or your hands. If you have problems where hand guard is wiggling around you can try to reinstall 1 of the flat or wavy washers but you shouldn’t need to. Hope this helps.

      @GearAndGuns  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bluespy4 no problem bro. I don’t think it’s that much better to sell your old and buy new. Gun selling can kind of be a hassle. The 5 position stock is a little nicer how you don’t have to turn it but I run it all the way to the rear anyways. I’ve never owned the original m4 so I don’t know how much difference the stock length is. Only other difference is the bolt release, charging handle and fore end which you can swap all of those out for better options. This new model also doesn’t have adjustable chokes which doesn’t really matter to me. Honestly, if I would’ve done it again I probably would’ve gotten the baretta 1301 tactical because it’s a little bit lighter and comes better stock in my opinion. After upgrading this thing all the way it’s pretty heavy. Unless your super strong, it’s hard to hold up for long periods of time. I’d like to try out the baretta 1301 and see how it runs. Adjustable stock isn’t really needed, stock bolt release is better, cycles faster and lighter. Only thing bad is it recoils a little harder. But if your just running it stock and not adding anything it might not be an issue for you. I have a light, red dot, grip, tape switch, will have a “side saddle” and a match saver. Things heavy. I guess it depends on how much money you have to spare, what your trying to use it for and how much stuff you want to put on it.
