Hey brother with the problems you’re having with the Grim Hunter Tactical shotgun cards I may have a solution for you. I have an M4 and a 590a1. The 590 is an 8+1 and as you know the M4 is 7+1. This made it so that I wanted to carry at least 8 shells on my shotgun cards so I can have a “full” gun no matter which one I choose on any given day. I heard great things about Esstac but unfortunately they do not make 8 round cards. I tried reaching out but all I ever got was an echo. I did find the GHT cards but wasn’t a fan of the pull tab or retention either so I kept searching until I found a company out of Canada named LOF Defence Systems. I was able to order 8 round shotgun cards. They come with a loop pull tab and their MIL-SPEC Cordura provides excellent retention. I am able to load my shells brass down for easier loading and quickly fire with none falling out. I always keep 2 cards loaded for “just in case” in a grab and go scenario and the other 8 unloaded to prolong the life of the Cordura. I have to say they are hand made which means there’s a lead time and a little pricey but well worth it for me as I was able to get everything I wanted in one product. I hope this helps brother. Thanks for showing off your awesome build and going through the parts, definitely gave me some ideas.

@@jnananinja7436 Usually having the dot farther away from your face makes it a little easier to pick up the red dot and doesn’t block as much of your vision. This only being about an inch further, won’t really be a huge difference. Ive never used reptilia so I can’t vouch for them but I can for scalarworks. They make some of the best optic mounts in the industry. Durable, lightweight, screws come with thread locker on them, they give you a torx key bit to install the mount, and great packaging. Got my RMR HD working and I peeped the GL-470 you got. They look perfect for me, I'm just debating whether or not the cost of ~$50 for the sights (they're on sale on PSA right now) + the additional cost to get them installed, is worth it. I don't have anything that I could use to install the sights myself, so I would have to use a gunsmith and I've heard that they charge upwards of $25 to install. Adding an adjustable gas block can mess with reliability if not done properly. I’d recommend trying it without the adjustable gas block, then if it’s not to your liking, you could look into adding an adjustable gas block. I would ask bcm about adding an adjustable gas block to their system. For some reason they chose not to add adjustable gas blocks to their uppers. The new sig Sauer spear lt with the piston system and easily accessible adjustable gas block are more directly and specifically setup for suppressing. If you’re going to run it suppressed 100% of the time I’d look into something like that, email bcm about adjustable gas blocks, or flow through suppressors help with suppressing. I too spent too much time looking into the stats and the battery performance curve, i.e. how it works over time, whether it is temperature throttled or battery capacity throttled, how much each type of throttling occurs and to what degree, how much does that affect performance and practicality overall, how much time do you actually get to use the light at its max output or near max output if you don't just run it constantly and temperature throttle it, etc. But for some reason, my gut made me go surefire even though I was certain that the Rein 3.0 would be better overall and was also much cheaper overall. But then I found a surefire M640DFT in Tan for $270 and felt that was good enough for me to try it out instead. So I bought the surefire, but now I'm over here wondering if I made the right choice. Because the output performance of the Rein 3.0, especially in terms of throttling and how much time the light actually spends putting out near it's maximum output compared to the surefire made me question myself and wonder if I made a mistake. Do you still think the surefire is better overall? When you aren't running the surefire constantly and forcing it to temperature throttle, do you think the surefire actually has worse or less usable performance than the Rein 3.0? Or does the Surefire only seem worse in tests where they are running the light nonstop from 100% to 0% battery charge? Like, now that they have the new switch design, would you rather have the Cloud rein 3.0 or the SureFire Turbo scout

@@rondobrondo I honestly did not go that in depth in looking at flashlights. I mainly look at the candelas, lumens, run time, and if its dual fuel on batteries. I try to go with name brand durable and reliable products. Streamlight is the lowest end i would go, then there modlite and surefire. A lot of companies are try to replicate or make a better product then modlite and surefire, cloud defensive being one of them. Cloud defensive has some impressive specs, but I do not trust their products. They’re a newer company, and I had bad experiences with brand new products from them. For the price you got that surefire light, that’s a great deal if it was new. I think you made the right choice. I switched from the rein 3.0 to the 640dft as well because of the problems I had. There’s a reason the military and special forces chose surefire for their lights and suppressors. They work when you need them too and you can rely on them. If I can’t rely on my equipment and gear to work regardless of the circumstance, it almost because worthless. Even if it doesn’t have better specs, it’s going to work when you need it to. Last time I checked, cloud defensive took away the option to order their rein 3.0 and gen 2 switch off their website which says they’ve been having problems with their products. Their products also feel more cheaply made which is probably why it’s cheaper in price. Even though it’s less expensive with better specs, I’d still chose surefire over cloud defensive which is what I should’ve done from the start. I’d choose modlite over cloud defensive at this point even though cloud defensive has better output. I did not like the design of the cloud defensive 3.0 battery compartment, the double tail cap/switch or how the switch has 2 different buttons, and it felt cheaply made. I was very disappointed in cloud defensive and i costed me money. You made the right choice and you’ll be happier in the long run. Myself and other people get caught up in the specs a little more than we should. They are important but durability and reliability is what really matters even if I’m losing a little output, which you might not even notice. In my opinion, flashlights get used in shorts spurts when shooting or identifying, and then a little longer if you’re doing some kind of search and rescue. I trust Surefire and modlite, and you made a safe decision.

@@rondobrondo I think your gut made you go surefire because you know they are a well tested reliable product company with a track record. Same as a lot of other people. I think cloud defensive shed a lot of durability and construction on the rein 3.0 to get a better output. It felt lighter and more cheaply made. I think the surefire is better overall, even with it not having as good as output and being more expensive, I’d still be the m640dft for my rifle at full price and I did. I can’t think of a scenario where I would run the surefire constantly to where the battery dies or to where in temperature throttles or dims/decreases output. Maybe in search and rescue, but you’d have to run it for a really long time, and usually people switch to helmet lights for that or a hand held flash light in my experience. I think the surefire has plenty useable performance. I would say it only seems worse in tests when running the light nonstop 100% to 0%. If it’s good enough for special forces and military, it’s good enough for me. Surefire prioritizes durability, reliability, and cater towards military performance and standards. It may not be the best in every category, might be more in the middle of everything kind of like there suppressors. Surefire m640dft is a safe choice, cloud defensive is more of a gamble in my opinion. I feel I can trust my life to surefire products, that’s what they were made for. I’m not sure if they upgraded the light, or fixed anything. I don’t make enough or get paid from anyone to rebuy and retest out their products. I don’t have extra money to just test trial stuff on and possibly lose money on. If you do, you’re of course welcome to try it out. The cloud defensive could be fine, I’ve seen people online and a couple in person use them or have them mounted. You could be alright using one but you never really know until you’re in a bad situation. From my experience with the one I had and the gen 2 switch, it seems like more of a gamble to be going with the rein 3.0 instead of the surefire. Surefire is a safe bet and not a wrong one.
