I'd be interested in seeing a video on Gaddafi's strange pivot towards the end of his rule where he was trying to curry favor with the west. That includes such things as condemning the 9-11 attacks and disclosing and dismantling his nuclear program.

Just a small technical point, calling them The IRA is a mostly a result of British reporting. They're more properly referred to as the Provisional IRA in Ireland, since as you say many groups claim the legacy of the original IRA, but in Ireland itself the IRA is understood to be those Anti-Treaty Republicans active between their defeat in the Civil War through the Border Campaign and the splitting off into the Old IRA and the Provos. If refered to be they're prefixes, it's less confusing.

I was honestly grossed out by the part of this very video where he got to central America and again, because "mad dog Gaddafi" everyone on the left was terrorist this and terrorist that. Central America in those years was literally THE exhibition of right-wing state terrorism and not even a tiny mention of that tiny nuance gets mentioned here, because this guy seems to be the right's version of a tankie simply playing historian. The reason Lybia/Iraq look the way they look isn't because the dictators are gone - those countries were fine before - it's the fact the dictators demolished any sort of democratic civil service and encouraged corruption that these countries are where they are now.

Nigerian government never accused Ggaddhaffi directly for formenting crisis.
In fact all Nigerian governments since Gowon in 1967 to Murtala Muhammad to Obasanjo to Shagari to Buhari. Most especially IBB and Abacha in the late 80's to late 90's were very close to Libya due to the "Miracle in the Desert" project which heavily influenced and also partly formed the motivation to build a world class city from the scratch like Brassilla.
Come Democracy in 1999 and the return of General Obasanjo, Yar Adua and Goodluck Jonathan were very friendly with Gaddaffi.
So my highly learned brother you did not visit these countries to get first hand information on how they viewed Gaddaffi.
In conclusion, I agree he aided Charles Taylor, Lockerbie bombing, IRA with the "troubles" and tactly some minor known Islamist terrorist groups.

Under gaddafi Libya had a per capita income of just $14,000 barely above the global average, 1/3 of the population where in poverty it ranked 146th out of 178 nations globally in terms of corruption, it had one of the highest unemployment rates in the region and despite this also had a consistent labour shortage with almost 1 million migrant workers in the country. Oh and don’t even get me started on its human rights situation.
I know the western intervention had major unintended consequences that undoubtedly ought to have been foreseen and prevented. However the myth that Libya was some kind of paradise before the usa intervened is incorrect and needs to stop. Don’t forget it was the Libyan people who first rose up and nato only intervened because the United Nations said they should.
It was shit back then and it’s shittier now.

LMFAO he was doing the same thing cold war Western and Eastern nations were doing. "National Liberation" is a funny way of saying coups , communist, and fascist, rebellions. All governments only have interest they'll throw others and your country men under the rug if it means they get power or influence, having too much nationalism is cancer for countries.
