Great video, I’ve got 10 N gauge wagons to apply this heavy weathering to! Great tutorial and will be giving it a go when I feel confident enough! Cheers Gary

    Excellent work as always Tim.
I would never have thought about using the IPA as an intermediate layer to bring the tones together and get away from that airbrushed look.
    TOP work,

Cheers Alex. Yep a quick re-think on these as trying to blend on the surface once the paint was on wasn't going to work with the chrome finish on the wagons.
      Resulted in a decent finish.

They look fantastic Tim. I have a rake of 15 to do at some point so this ‘how to’ came at just the right time!

Brilliant Tim👏 Great to watch the transformation So realistic I’d imagine you’re using a top end airbrush 🤔

    • @thescrapline4905
      @thescrapline4905  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks Kev. The airbrush is a Hansa made by Harder and Steenbeck, it's not top end of the price scale but certainly does a great job.

@@thescrapline4905 Thanks Tim I bit the bullet a few months back in lockdown and invested in a Timbertech kit I haven’t used it yet as I’m pending a house move with a lot more space than I have now so will give it a whirl once I’m settled in Plenty of practice afoot I fear 👍

@@NQY-flyer I have the timbertech compressor with the air tank which is a good piece of kit and made a massive difference from the set pressure compressor I had before. They generally have good feedback reviews.
I've always had an airbrush with the rear flow control which is great if you're abit heavy handed on the trigger. My last airbrush worked well which was a Voilamart, nothing special but it did the job, still use it if I'm doing a large number of models in one hit as the cup is bigger.
One thing to note with a better quality airbrush is how much easier it is to take apart and clean compared to the cheaper models and cleaning is the most important thing.

Hi Tim - I have a factory weathered one and a pristine one so I will have a go at weathering it . One question when you cleaned the data panels did you use the same IPA/water mix or was it stronger ?
Also Ive had go at the Bunters yard non airbrush brake van weathering method and it came out ok .
    Cheers Kev

Cheers kev. Good to see you're getting on with some weathering.
I used the same ipa mix to remove the paint though it took a little more effort on the data panels as layers were left to cure for longer.
If you struggle to get any paint off those areas then just increase the strength.
