Very interesting, fitted or unfitted. Yes all this brings back my happy days and years on BR. Bolster wagons, A, BD, BK containers ect on conflats, 16 ton mineral wagons, weltrol wagons, van fits, van wides ,shock vans, open plank wagons, fish vans, banana vans, continental wagons full of fruit / vegetable, all kept chilled with dry ice kept in compartments at either end of the wagon. And many more. We had two class 08 shunters in the yard and one of the drivers let me drive the 08 out of the yard and up to a scrap merchant, about a mile away as in the scrap yard there was a Black 5 in mucky BR green, 5305 ( BR 45305 ). GREAT DAYS. )
Tank wagons for Class A fuels (petrol of similar) were silver/grey and those for Class B (diesel and similar) were black. IIRC some meat wagons were red.
Evening Yarslow. Thanks for your reply. I model the end of steam around 68 in the north west of England living in the Manchester area because that’s where my fondest memories are. So looking at your stock it seems to fit in with my dreams. I had a large layout in my garage 26’X9’6” but found it too large for me to complete anything worth while so I reduced it by half. I work away from home 5/6 days a week so don’t have much free time either ☹️ But watching channels like yours always gives me inspiration to continue with my layout. I also don’t have confidence to do videos lol 😆 Looking forward to seeing more of your layout. I don’t have any particular subject I need covering but I’ll sure ask if I do. Keep safe and take care. Cheers Stevie 😎
Thank you, this is great information to identify vehicles and their uses, does this also apply to the GNR and LNER in the 30's, as my layout is based on Peterborough era 2 and 3. David, of NZ.
Hi David Thanks for your comment. I am not sure about pre-grouping wagon colours. Have a look at the websites of people like Steve Banks and books by the late Bob Essery - wonderful information written by railwaymen who are modellers. Good luck with your layout
@@yarslowmodelrailway1 I can't dispute your personal experience, but I also can't find any dictionary that supports "bohksite" as an accepted pronunciation.

Hi Martin. Thanks for your comment. We try hard to replicate those great days!

That was fantastic 👍🏻
Thanks Stevie. I hope to add more BIte Size Bits covering useful info for modellers. Is there anything you feel needs to be covered?

Btw, the first syllable of "bauxite" rhymes with "forks" (or "box"), not with "no".
Hi Beeble. I have heard both and have always said "beau - xite". A bit like scon and scone I guess!
