Never ceases to amaze me how much importance is placed on "scratchy" plastics by motor journalists...

I was wrong about this car .
I have had it for a week and it's grown on me.
I hated it at first because of the first gear and road noise but
The handling is superb tight and precise
the 1.2 turbo petrol engine has big ballz and puts a smile on your face , this car is quick .
The fuel consumption is better than average and interior room space and cubby holes are better than average and the media centre is state of art bang up to date sound system is excellent.
Steering wheel adjustment is top notch .
Bad points are seat comfort not good with not enough lumbar support which gave me back ache so I have had to use a cushion .
Road noise an ever present rumble and the head lights are always on . And rear luggage lip is high for taking out stuff .
But the good definitely outweighs the bad .
This car is a great all rounder lifestyle type car easy to live with and will appeal to a wide spectrum of people.
    7 out of 10

What was it about 1st gear that you did not like? It looks to be pretty normal in the photos, so was it hard to select?

Driving one for 6 months now. You can’t get all that space for such a good price, it’s a really good deal for a small family. The only thing that bothers me in the car (and is mentioned in the video) is the internal noise when you’re on the road (driving above 100km/h). You almost can’t hear your music, even with great speakers. Except for that, really, everything just works great, specially the Apple car play. It was totally worth the (small) investment.

I bought this car,2019. I didn’t like the handbreak release button on the top of the handle to start with but now I wouldn’t have it otherwise .You quickly get used to it. But, there’s two features that I definately don’t like and consider downright dangerous and it involves nighttime driving. Firstly, the rear view mirror doesn’t flick up to the ceiling of the car roof . That’s ok in a built up area but it’s very annoying in the countryside. I often have to flick it to the side and use my wing mirrors. But the most dangerous and potentially deadly is the main beam lever! It’s not on a toggle system and you have to push it away from you for off and on ( as opposed to pull towards for on and pull towards for off as in a Ford ) I live in the countryside and drive around 10 thousand miles a year so I find this could be dangerous at night.
But, other than that, the car is nice to drive and is a lot roomier than a lot of cars I’ve had (I buy a new car every 27 thousand miles).Overall, I’m pleased with the car, but the main beam lever is a definite no,no !!!

I think the anti glare on the interior mirror is automatic and I’ve had quite a few cars where you push the stalk away for main beam

i was thinking of going to look at one of these, just because they are different and do like the look of them even though ive never seen one up close. fairly well specced too. i didnt know they shared anything with the peugeot 2008 which was a car i had a few years ago and was the Feline model with 1.6 vti engine. was really nice, just needed something more eco. in the case of the crossland though i would be looking at the best spec one i can find, but with the 1.2 80 odd horsepower engine, simply because i have a 1.4 turbo based car now and dont want another turbo though due to too many short travels because of a new job plus want something more friendlier on the wallet. this is a good review.

    "There are no 4WD versions"
But then, who would want 4WD in a car that's intended to be a more family friendly choice when compared to it's bigger brother, the Mokka X
Also, not only would a 4WD system eat into usable interior space and deprive the person sitting in the middle seat of a flat floor for his or her feet, but it would also be more expensive and add more complexity to the system, more fuel consumption, more weight and more parts to maintain for little performance gain.

    • @davetravels9273
      @davetravels9273 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Completely agree, most people don't need AWD on a FWD vehicle. If they live in a snowy climate then all they need is a good set of winter tires. AWD does not help you stop or steer, only helps you get unstuck or moving on a sliperly incline from a stop. ;)

I've had a 19 plate on hire for three weeks,
There is NOT ONE SINGLE THING THAT LIKE ABOUT IT, Nothing at all I almost hate it..
It's noisy, coarse, bumps and bashes, the steering on turn-in is is unnerving and the gearbox is like stirring porridge. The headlight high beam is switch is stupid.
Best this I could suggest is remove the roof and use it as a Skip

The German and French technologies have always been different and people simply have had an opportunity to choose this or that. Now I won't be able to choose the German one as Opels/Vxs will be fitted with French innovations, like the 1.2 puretech engine.

    • @fundiver198
      @fundiver198 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Merges and acquisitions are a natural part of the development of the car industry and should be applauded. Small or even medium sized car companys simply can not make the nessesary investments in new models and new technology on their own.
Just look at a company like Fiat, which is trailing behind almost everyone else now. Or a company like Mitsubishi, which has not brought out an attractive new model for years, and would have gone into oblivion, had it not been for the recent takeover by Nissan.
As for Opel/Vauxhall it was owned by american GM for years, but this was never a happy marriage, and the company has not turned out a profit in decades. So I am pretty sure, its future is better secured under the new french ownership than the old american one.

It depends on your market. You have to buy the subscription through OnStar, which is expensive for what you get. Personally, I find other systems , such as those in VW group cars, which allow you to pop in a sim card of your choice, much better.

This is a shocking review. Don’t listen to this guy folks. I have one on hire this week. The Crossland is a horrific car. The gearbox is absolutely shocking, with such a long throw, it is honestly the worst gearbox I have ever used in any car in my life (I’ve been driving for 23 years). The handling and ride are almost as bad. And the engine is an absolute joke. This guy who reviewed the car called the gearbox ‘slick’. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Quality is also very bad especially the interior. Whatever you do folks, do not buy this car. This is the last car you should buy, and this so-called reviewer needs the sack as he is misleading the public.

I was thinking about buying one but even the seat fabric look very cheap for a modern model. Dash interior is also very boring looking and not much features on it for a modern car. Only thing that interested me was that it's very cheap compared to other models so if your on a budget

This is so weird to watch!...french bones, American tech (OnStar), and German design? What a peculiar mix! I'm glad this one didn't make it state side. The Mokka looks rather good with Buick badges but frumpy as a Chevy Trax. What an awkward machine ....and manufacturer for that matter.

Had one of these as a rental for a weekend; awful, hated it. Terrible gearbox, terrible clutch, loads of under steer, poor handling generally felt under powered . Boot has a massive lip. Unfortunately I have nothing positive to say about the car, can’t understand why anybody would buy this.

admiralpicard2010 I do not say I can do better, but I do not think he is good. Mat and Rebecca are 10 times better.

Sambhav Sardana He is absolutely as good as anyone else doing reviews on YT and better than many. Perhaps you'd prefer a different style, but that does not mean he does a bad job. If you prefer Mat and Rebecca, why are you back here watching Carbuyer?

As a Meriva owner I take offense at this dreary eyesore being a better car! They took everything that was even remotely special about the Meriva and made it generic and forgettable.
I was seriously looking forward to this car until I sat in one a while back. What a boring grey lump of average this is ...
