NOTE: A couple of corrections: I drove another car the following day which had a fully adjustable steering wheel. For both height and reach. Also, I found out later that the emergency braking system is a camera based system. That's why there is no radar control for an adaptive cruise control. -AJ
Love the crossland x had 2018 loved it now upgraded to the 2020 one. Love the way it's higher up off the road especially if you have back or knee problems.
Beautiful color and great looking car. Exterior is well designed with many similarities with new Peugeot crossover. But the interior is a totally different approach with this Opel looking more refined with noble material. It is better than Peugeot crossover.
the same company (faurecia) supplies peugeot and now opel for the interior. it 's built in the same plant also , i m not sure the quality is different between 2008/ opel crossland
stephen10 Quality is definitely different regarding the market. French market isn't the same as German cars consumers market especially in terms of the interior quality, security and refinement.
for the security on german's cars , it 's the same standart for the whole europe with euro ncap crash test. For quality it's for german premium only but not for this level B or A.The french company Faurecia makes the interior of german premium too : www.faurecia.com/en/highlights/faurecia-board?field_vignette_fob_marque_tid=All&page=1
I’ve driven one a few times and I don’t like how the automatic gearbox shifts. It often is in a wrong gear in my opinion resulting in a vibrating car because of low rpm’s. Maybe something to look out for during a test drive. I’m comparing it to the 2019 Mercedes e220d automatic gearbox which of course is a more premium car. But the difference is HUGE haha
"AJ, how do you fancy taking my place on a trip to beautiful Venice?" "Wow Thomas, that sounds great! But wait, are you trying to trick me again, this isn't some town called Venice in the Arctic Circle is it? This is the Venice with lots of water?" *looks up from weather forecast on iPhone* "Oh, for sure, AJ, this is definitely the Venice with lots of water…"
Entertaining Review - thanks Aditya. Agree - even a simple HUD, as per your test car, is good; and in my opinion, they are a useful safety-feature, now that cars have so many more gadgets to avert your eyes! At the interesting roundabout section with the Q5, time 24:39, I couldn't make out the blind spot monitor warning light - perhaps it was off, or the light is very small - I like a nice big bright light - to avert my eyes!
If i would have been thinking of buying this crossover x.i think you've changed my mind, as re your comment in regards to poor motorway handling while driving in windy conditions. As an experienced driver of many years, it is not a nice experience getting buffeted about in these type of conditions. As stated ive had experienced of this before, and i would never buy a car that's not stable under such conditions. Im afraid this car gets a big NO.from me sorry. But i enjoyed your review none the less.Thank You.👍
In general I think a CUV is better than an SUV because it's more compact, lighter and therefore more environment friendly. For a family with small kids this kind of car makes sense. It has reasonable space and adds a little lifestyle. It's comfortable and even has a head up display. For my taste however the Opel has too many quirky details like the lever of the handbrake, the missing horizontal adjustment of the steering, the strange bulky look or the wind noise. Poor engineers! For cost reasons they are forced to make too many rotten compromises. If I had a family with two little kids I would probably go for a spacious super mini like the new Seat Ibiza. It looks much much better, is much more agile, more compact, has a better fuel economy and no quirky details. For me and my wife the new KIA Picanto looks quite interesting. It definitely is on my test drive list before buying the next car. It looks nice (of course not breathtaking!), has a very good package for just 3,59 m in length, a solid build quality, a very well designed cockpit and interesting features like heated steering wheel, integrated sat nav, rear view camera, emergency brake assist, automatic climate control, cruise control, knee airbag and many others. Quite impressing for a mini car. The Picanto combines the advantages of high class cars like space, (reasonable) luxury and solid quality with very compact size, low price and environment friendly consumption figures.
Now that Opel is owned by the French, one thing I generally don't like with French cars is interior quality and layout. Germans on the other hand make excellent interiors and I hope PSA takes advantage of their German engineers who now work for them. As an American, I am very critical of American Auto Manufacturers, like Opel's former owners GM, because they generally just care about profits and to hell with reliability and overall build quality.
Jefff yes the interiors are very prone to wear after only a few years of use, whilst the german cars' interiors don't show so many signs of wear. But at IMO they generally look more interesting and not so boring. BTW this car looks like a total hard plastic chap, it already has scratches on the piano black surfaces as shown in the video :-D
I enjoyed the review, but perhaps some of the camera angles could have been better? For example around 9:40, 16:48 and 17:21, I think it would be nice to have a clear view of what's being discussed.
You speak English really well (prob better than my bastardised-English speaking Aussie self lol) - is it your second or primary language? I'm always really interested coz my mum grew up in Holland & used to harp on about how she had to learn like 5 languages at school.
Autogefühl yes you're right in saying that. The current 2008 shares it's platform with the Crossland X. It's called the PF1. But in the video you said the Crossland X shares it's platform with the upcoming 2008. This is not true :)
What happened to Opel they used to make half decent cars. This looks like they took the roof off the Opel Adam and stuck it on mokka. They need advice from the vw group on how to make nice cars.Just look at what Skoda and Seat are doing.Hopefully the PSA group will change this and get some people in that can design a nice car.
Vauxhall isn't exactly known for its build quality but now that Peugeot owns them I'd imagine the overall quality to take a dive. I've owned two French cars and they were both crap and somewhat unreliable in their own ways.
This is one of the ugliest cars I've seen in a long time. the Opel lineup has so many beautiful cars like the new elegant Insignia or the cute, fun Adam, but on the other hand cars like this.
freshklinki93 Well looks like you're not in the target audience for this car. this obviously Sells. the crossing segment is overpopulated With women in particular. the most popular reason to get it is the cheap price for a raised small car. however i do agree there are a lot better models in this segment. 2008, mokka and Captur are waymore appealing. to eache their own
Great review but I don't like this car. I am 1.9m high with over 100 kg. I wouldn't fit alone in this car not to mention wife, 2 kids and luggages. This car might be good for couples driving without kids.
I think this has to be one of the worst looking Opel / Vauxhalls in a long time. If you want top build quality then obviously you're not going to buy a GM product but at least GM products are usually robust (they need to be as GM's are commonplace in the rental market). But just look when AJ replaces the USB adapter in to the power socket (15:13 on the video ). I've never seen plastics as flimsy as that since the mid 90's - it looks like it's about to snap! If that's the build quality on parts of the car you can see, I'd be questioning the quality of the parts I can't see.
NOTE: A couple of corrections: I drove another car the following day which had a fully adjustable steering wheel. For both height and reach. Also, I found out later that the emergency braking system is a camera based system. That's why there is no radar control for an adaptive cruise control. -AJ
It is still a shame that not every trim level has a fully adjustable steering wheel. This is so absurd in 2017.
GBIGBIGBI I totally agree on that. Every car should have this feature.
Aditya Jayaram I
The guy on the video is wrong the steering wheel is really full adjustable at every trim level
GBIGBIGBI r

Crossland X is a lovely comfortable family car

I am watching the review in 2020 - Thank you!
Very well done review! I like your fluent english and your attention to detail. Feeling well informed about the car now :)
thanks stick with us!

lol :P Thomas is so sly! -AJ
damn those spies watching our messages again
others say it's not an SUV, as you say, when you sit in the blue car, but a Crossover...
Keep it up! Looking forward for more videos from you, don't stop!

Nice video man!
thanks pal !
Im single and tall. So i prefer a car in this size. But because of its uncomfortable armrest, i may go to Seat Arona then.
You speak English really well (prob better than my bastardised-English speaking Aussie self lol) - is it your second or primary language? I'm always really interested coz my mum grew up in Holland & used to harp on about how she had to learn like 5 languages at school.
thanks! AJ grew up in the states so thats why, second language however :)
Haha ah cool no wonder why he sounds hybrid American then - wasn't sure if AJ was German or American or something else expat
Ajlan you can use the menus on drivers display, when you sliding the arrow button on turn signal lever
No, the next 2008 is likely to use the CMP platform due to PSA's Chinese partnership.
The information that was given to us by Opel and Peugeot themselves is that all-new 2008 and Crossland share the same platform.
Autogefühl yes you're right in saying that. The current 2008 shares it's platform with the Crossland X. It's called the PF1. But in the video you said the Crossland X shares it's platform with the upcoming 2008. This is not true :)
Hallo Autogefühl.de,
wie lautet die exakte Farbe des silbernen Crosslands?
Ist es Argon Silber oder Lichtgrau?
Bitte um Info,
Viele Grüße
so it is the first psa opel?
Bugatti Chiron is better.
Where do you put your golf stuff in a Chiron ?
on 6:00 i cry, what is this?Is this project started on GM platform and after rework to PSA platform?
What happened to Opel they used to make half decent cars. This looks like they took the roof off the Opel Adam and stuck it on mokka. They need advice from the vw group on how to make nice cars.Just look at what Skoda and Seat are doing.Hopefully the PSA group will change this and get some people in that can design a nice car.
this is the new psa car. i'ts the peugeot 2008 in an opel
this car is selling a lot in all europe, so you were wrong about everything, so in the future keep you mouth shut.
Have one it’s a nice car
Number UNO!
Vauxhall isn't exactly known for its build quality but now that Peugeot owns them I'd imagine the overall quality to take a dive. I've owned two French cars and they were both crap and somewhat unreliable in their own ways.
Is this still GM ?
+DimachkaS no
2017 car with a 2000 antenna...wtf
wait what, they already started making OPELS with PSA engines?
the cooperation was already established before the buying deal
Ok, thanks
WHAT DO YOU THINK ???? :P
Reminds me of my Qashqai...
let us know..let us know let us know
Let us know!
i think you should stop asking what we think . 😑
so that's your thought then =)
Autogefühl i think so.
Horrible Armrests. The same stupid reason i didn't buy Mokka. They repeat same stupid design.
This is one of the ugliest cars I've seen in a long time. the Opel lineup has so many beautiful cars like the new elegant Insignia or the cute, fun Adam, but on the other hand cars like this.

ofcore you do. i am 193 cm long and i fit perfectly. the backseat isnt that big but you could fit.
Does he try to imitate Thomas? :) or that is just my impression
AJ surely has his own style, but of course we at Autogefuehl have certain standards
I think this has to be one of the worst looking Opel / Vauxhalls in a long time.

The car is excelent fyi, and it s selling a lot, so admit you were wrong with your dum remarks!
Sorry Opel. It's one of the ugliest cars in the market today.
the rear is very ugly n look like a Chinese cars
