She will try to manipulate all around her as she did with her family, she is intelligent, then she will realise that this will all work against her. I don't think we have heard the last of her to be honest!
Bc she thinks she's gonna win bc of her age and mental health
She never cries just screws up her face and pulls very unattractive faces and in a nanosecond is cold and indifferent. She's very dangerous. Excellent verdicts by the Jury. I don't think an appeal will get her off.
Don't know why she didn't take the plea deal. Or even better take time and think before shooting your parents. She only had four more years to live in that house. Then she would have had the rest of her life to live instead of life in prison.
She was insane for not taking a plea!!! What did they offer her??
@@LynetteA68I read elsewhere that it was 40 years offered.
She was sure she was above being punished for this. That's her personality type, she will always be like this, nothing they could have done differently would have made her a living caring child. She will be manipulative and coniving in prison and will make it her home
Because she was 14

She can't even cry. She forces herself to but she fails.
Creepiest part for me was when Stepdad kept mouthing to her “It’s ok, I love you”, more than once! She tried to KILL HIM!
It's not creepy at all. They were a family and lived as a family for years. He obviously has some fatherly love for her. Just because he's a stepdad, doesn't mean that he didn't treat her like his own child.
Sick
Wish the bio dad could have been there
Oh dry it up..... your mother didn't even have the chance to cry
zero loss for society that is what matters.
Society did loose a geometry teacher though
Was her supportive, victim-stepdad hoping she would be set free, and returned to his care??? I wouldn't be able to sleep around her again, turn my back to her, close my eyes for a second...
She killed his wife for him! Because they have a relationship

Not at all
Ya'll need to leave step dad alone. Heath would have been tried. Everything is on video in the house. Justice was served. RIP Ashley.
The step dad slept with her
She said no to a 40 year plea deal, she'll be kicking herself for that, for the rest of her life
Abd she probably would have been up for parole in 20 years.
@Sue-gq7xv Yep, that was the deal, 40 yrs, possibility parole after 20 yrs. She'd be 35 with her whole life ahead of her. Can't believe her attorneys actually encouraged her to turn it down. Then again we all know who was running that show...the genius.🙄
@@sandtats They would have absolutely convinced her she would get insanity plea and get out in 7 years when she’d grown up
@@sandtatsIt’ll be interesting to see what happens if the case is overturned due to defense incompetence. If that plea is back in play, the next lawyer should advise her to take it.
Exactly...thats why Gypsy Rose got off easy. If you are guilty then never go to trial.

Well Done. Justice Served.
How dare she to take the life of the person who gave her life with the gun that she had to protect herself from others.
Most guns in America end up killing innocents as opposed to some dangerous crim.

HE LOOKS VERY OFF !
Anyone here old enough to remember the tv show The Love Boat? Carly looks like Captain Stubing’s daughter Vicky Stubing on that show.
Yes, she does!
I thought so, too.
Sure do. I thought she looked like someone. Thanks.
nothing really to overturn, as for the sentence, they've already made it to where anyone under 18 gets a sentence review after 25 years, so she will get that anyway regardless of them NOT giving her life with a chance of parole.
She does!
Bye Carly.
Aside the obvious….her step Dad is smirking. He’s not right.
Fair punishment for her, but not for Susan Smith who gets a chance at parole after 30 years after killing her two kids. That’s not right, she should never get out!
I’m still trying to figure out why she crying ? Like what did she think was gonna happen??
She’s crying because she has realised the consequences of her actions. Not due to remorse.
That is one evil and weird young lady. Yikes.
What does the word "weird" even mean?
Odd. Unusual.

Empathy and respect for Carly's Stepfather.
She actually thought she was going to get away with this.....
She is completely stone faced here. She thought she had everyone fooled with her crying and Catholic school outfits, but the jury saw right through her. Im glad im not the only one thinking there's something weird about the relationship between her step father and her. I could see if he raised her, but from what i remember they only got married in 2020 so why is he sticking up for her? Was it his idea and now he wants to make sure she isnt ratting him out? 🤨
What a horrible loss. Think of how many times that mother held Her daughter’s hand to keep her safe, absolutely tragic.
Should have took the plea deal. Mississippi does not play.
They truly are a barbaric people.
life without parole?
Correct.
Yup!!! She could have pleaded guilty and gotten parole after 40 years. Decided not to and she will NEVER be released.

Her brain was not nearly fully developed, this could be cruel and unusual punishment. She deserves life, but she was young.

Something really weird about this
I'm still so confused. Why did this happen? This isn't normal. A bright, intelligent, young girl calmly commits a cold-blooded murder & calculatedly attempts a second. Carly invites her friends as "spectators" for lack of a better word & flees in such a ridiculous manner. The stepfather's compassion is enviable but also incredibly odd. So many unanswered questions. I normally would find every reason on the planet to sympathize with a 14 year old child but... something is SO OFF with her. It's chilling. I suspect that this story isn't over yet...
She only cried because she realized she was going to big girl jail.
She definitely didn’t cry because she murdered her mother, and traumatized and grazed her stepfather. Cry me a river mini sociopath ✌🏿
She want be left alone, now she got what she wish for
Nah, she won't be alone, not unless she does something to wind up in solitary. She now has decades worth of very little privacy to look forward to.
She will be in solitary until age 18. This has an awful mental breakdown for many.
Again, Step Dad raises too many red flags 🚩 for me. Sketch.
Yeah

The biological father may well be following her to jail.

One thing that surprised me, was how she talked to her family during the trial. I never saw a judge allow that, even if she is a child. Just my obversation! Praying for the family of Ashley!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I can't believe you ruined your own life at 14. You're only 14 Carly. I wanted to cry when they said life. I'm not making excuses by any means. There's something so creepy about that stepdad, the way he looked at her at 6.35 mins into video and mouthed it's ok with a long stare, chilled me to the bones! it's an itch I can't get rid of.......
The way he keeps his eyes down at certain moments, he's not all there, it seems like he has control over her or something. Psychologically controlling. Something is missing, way off.
I saw that too and watched it sensed times. Couldn’t figure out what he said but look was creepy for sure

I agree. The look on his face shows he was more upset about the sentence of Carly then he was about his wife. Also on the stand he talked more about Carly with a smile but when asked about his wife he didn’t have much to say, only ‘ she was alright” strange words to use
to the behavioral therapist, just how would one look at a person who killed your wife and tried to kill you by shooting you almost in the face and shooting your wife 3 times in the face???
