She became exceptionally complacent. She was more interested in business and making money and forgot about the child. It is negligence and foolishness. She apparently forgot how vulnerable such young children are. I would be paranoid about everything looking after young children - I would get an ulcer worrying they were fine.

@@richardwait1206 Actually, there are people that thoughtless. There was a reason I could not leave my ex husband to care for our baby. Out of sight, out of mind. He was thoughtless and more focussed on himself. When I came home, even from a quick trip to the store, and asked where the baby was, "I dunno" was not a satisfactory answer. This woman reminds me of that; so focussed on things right in front of her, she didn't even think of the baby. But that is just a possibility as I don't know her. :)

This has happened on numerous occasions by dads with their own children. Stories I’ve heard are usually because mom is the one to drop child off at daycare but for whatever reason cannot (mom’s sick, mom home with 2nd child sick, etc). So, dad brings and because it’s not his normal morning routine baby is forgotten and is in car all day by dad’s work.
Many daycares have implemented a plan to avoid such tragedies. If child doesn’t show up, and no one has called to inform daycare that child will be absent, then the daycare will contact parent(s) to check on child.
Some car companies are now making their vehicles with alarm systems to sound to prevent such tragedy from happening.
