Thank you for all the information in your videos, these are exactly the kind of things that I want to know when I have the good fortune to visit Rome again. I have been there several times, and my favourite place to stay was an Airbnb in Trastevere. I loved the apartment and neighbourhood so much that I returned a second time. The area is charming with a real buzz and lots of excellent food. On another visit to the city, I stayed in a small hotel in a side street near Trevi fountain. Although there were some restaurants serving really good food, the area felt cramped and crowded with too many shops selling tacky souvenirs.
That is my exact thoughts about the Trevi area. I know I never stayed there, but that’s really why I’ve never stayed there. I felt like I really didn’t need to stay there since I’ve been over there several times and that’s the vibe I get. You and me both, Love, Trastevere
Your videos have been so helpful and this one just made my day. Going to Rome for the first time in November (solo female travler) and booked my hotel in the Largo Argentina neighborhood. So glad it is your favorite! You have confirmed everything that I thought about it. Can't wait to go to Pizza Florida!. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Largo Argentina, the best. I walked everywhere. When I was tired, I took a break at my hotel for a few minutes, had some water and then enjoyed the city again.
Very happy to see this! We are staying in Trastevere in the spring! We’ve never been but want to spend more time exploring the Roman culture with a day of site seeing. 🙌🏻 Happy to see that it’s one of your favorites.
Stayed in Trastevere near the Porta Pórtese. First time in the city had an amazing experience. I walked everywhere and each time my travels brought me across Largo definitely central to everything.
Prati should be way higher if you want a great mix of Italian life and tourism. The food is outstanding, it close to PdP too which gets overlooked too much. I could go on… air bnbs are more affordable and larger…etc 😊 PS. Theses videos are so good and are a must for anyone traveling to Rome. Keep up the great work!
Perhaps you are right. I have stayed in the Prati area twice but maybe 3 times will be the charm. I did like it as it was more of a typical day to day neighborhood and I did feel safe throughout the area. I will give it a try again someday. Thanks for your input.
@@RozierRoma I didn’t mean it was for everyone 😊. If you like to travel (walk a lot ) to tourist spots and you want to eat with locals it’s a bit easier. It also has fun shopping and the best gelato 🍧 Gelateria La Romana.
Actually, if you stay around Castel Sant'Angelo, you only have to traverse the Ponte Sant'Angelo to be in the historic centre, and Piazza Navona or Largo di Torre Argentina are not so far. Obviously, you must love to walk...
Stayed 1/2 block straight west of Trevi in 2019 and it as super convenient but the one downfall was the very loud street cleaner/sweeper EVERY SINGLE NIGHT at about 3 A. M. It was loud; very loud. Stayed 1/2 block from Termini when we went back this past May(‘24) and it was fabulous.

We stayed near the Spanish steps on Via Del Corso Street. It was a very basic, small apartment, but it was all we needed and just a little over €100 a night. We would leave the apartment at 5/6am and walk to whichever site we wanted. We were first in line at the collosseum and the vatican museums. We only used a taxi once or twice and we used the freenow app to book, it was great and very cheap if you ask me. I definitely would prefer to stay somewhere quieter if we ever go to Italy again, though. There was a lot of homelessness and some aggressive beggers.
I do not see homelessness so much in Rome, sure there is some but not currently a huge problem. Have you thought about staying just outside or Rome like in Tivoli? You should give it a try!
Thank you so much for this video. Helps me plan where to stay when we go in September 2025. Im glad there are people like you out there making informative interactive videos A+
Great Info for sure. You guys do a GREAT JOB! We have been Rome 3 times and use it as a base to go all over. We have stayed in the area of Piazza de Popolo which is great for Day Trips. leaving the city. We stayed in the Trevi district and it was a little more pricey and louder for sure. This past February we stayed at an Airbnb in Monti and loved it. Great view of the Coliseum. Loved the neighborhood restaurants/bars/shops> Shopped at a local grocery store chain called Conad which was pretty cool.. May have to check out the Camo de Flori on our next trip. Just Stayed last week in hotel Accademia , just around the corner of trevi fountain and it was Great , just at the Center of the Center of the world , you can walk every where .
@@RozierRoma it was ok for the price 200 € and mainly location , the staff very friendly and it was old but confortable . ( by the way which One is your favorite in the área of campo de fiori)
We stayed not far from Santa Maria'. Not too bad, but not something i would choose. I was with a group. Trevi area is way too busy for me. Great video. Thanks for sharing.😊
We stayed in Trevi on last visit to Rome. A 5-star hotel (Harry's Bar) about 150 metres from the Trevi fountain. It is a great location but is massively overrun by tourists and we were there in Oct 2022. If you are OK with massive over-tourism then I can highly recommend Trevi area because of the location. Watch out for the pickpockets at all times! We walked everywhere, day and night, seemed safe. I do agree with your top-3 arear because we have been to Rome about 10 times so far and I lived in Rome for about 12 months in the past (in the Viale Regina Margherita area). BTW - yes, we loved Tivoli too, last visited it during Oct 2022 trip to Rome. Another recommended visit tip - Ostia Antica, take a train for Rome Pyramida station in Rome, about 30-40 (?) minutes commuter train and walk to Ostia Antica ancient site from the train station. Note: the Roman ruins are uncovered so check weather forecast and dress appropriately - sun protection or rain protection.
I would stay wherever I could find a good airbnb between Trastevere, Monti, Largo Argentina and Navona. 2025 could get quite expensive especially if you do not book well in advance. Most hotels in Rome are already priced higher than normal for Jubilee.
The Roma Palazzo I have actually been in, friendly staff and nice but for me too close to the station. Fori Imperiali I have never been to but nice location, much better than the first. Navona hotel I am very familiar with the location. Also very good allowing you to walk to many sites. It is a coin toss between the last 2. Good luck!
Thanks for the great video. Very informative. We are planning to visit Rome in February (first two weeks) next year. After watching your video, I'm tossing up between Largo Argentina and Campo De Fiori, Monti and Piazza Navona and Pantheon neighborhoods. Where do you recommend for first timer in Rome? Also, what time do the shops open and close in Feb? Thank you in advance. Much appreciated!
Campo, Largo, Pantheo and Navona area all close together. You can't go wrong with these. Find a hotel or Airbnb you like and let that decide for you. For first time I think it is better then Monti as they are more central and walkable. Everything is Open in February, great time to be in Rome.
@@RozierRoma Thank you for your prompt response and advised. Much appreciated. We are still contemplating if we can stay 2 nights at Naples or just day trip. If we decided to have a day trip to Naples, I guess it still better to stay at either Campo, Largo, Pantheo and Navona area than Monti.
Between the 2 areas can be a hard decision. Good news you can't make a bad decision, as both are great. For me I know the Campo area better so I tend to go there but if I know Monti as well as I do Campo I may have a different opinion. If you are doing several day trip from Rome getting tot he station from Monti is easier. With high speed rain a day trip to Napoli is what I recommend for the first time. 1 hour each way which is less time than taking the bus across Rome. In Naples focus an historical center and eating the best food in Italy! Also the Spanish quarter is lots of fun. Everything is much less expensive in Naples. Want a great meal? Get to Nannella but get there a little before it opens for lunch or dinning.as the lines can be long. Very entertaining meal!
@@RozierRoma Thanks again for your taking time to reply. Much appreciated. We are planning to stay at Napoli for a couple of nights so we might look at Campo. Then travel to Florence and stay for a about 3 days. Any tips where to eat and stay in Florence? Thanks in advance.

Thank you for sharing! It’s very informative. Do you have recommendations where or which hotel to stay with kids? I’m a little worried because when we come back, we need to catch a 6 am flight. Not sure if the metro/train is open this early. Thank you!
What month are you going? Early morning it is best to get a taxi. It’s €55 flat be up to four people some taxis can take up to six. Just arrange for a taxi to pick you up at your hotel as early as you need a great app to use For taxis is Freenow
My dear friend 💗 your recommendations about Rome, especially about location to stay, are amazing and made my travel here one of the best experiences. Thanks for your great work and advice. Rome is good to return to thanks to you😘😘😘
@RozierRoma largo Argentina, small street near piazza Campo de Fiori. After long long hours of walking all over central Rome, this location is definitely the best. Thanks again 🙏🏻
Number one you never mentioned about Uber, which is the easiest way to get around Rome if you don’t wanna walk cheaper than a cab easier than catching a bus. And the best place to stay in Rome is Largo Argentina. It is centrally located area safe you can walk anywhere from there in just a few minutes .
Well, I commented too fast. I see that you picked Largo. Argentina is the best which I’ve been at numerous times that is the best I’ve ever found. Thank you. Love your show.
From my experience, Uber is not the cheapest. They only had the Uber black in Rome and if you use the app FREENOW, it’s typically been less expensive than the Uber service in Rome. At least that’s my experience. Glad to hear you’ve had good luck with it. The official taxis really are not that expensive. It’s just that sometimes people get ripped off, Taking advantage of but with the app FREENOW, you can click on the set amount pre-agreed which is kind of nice, but I always use the meter.
That’s funny we both came to the same conclusion Largo. Argentina is the most central area in Rome. I expanded it to include Como de Fiori, which is only a few blocks away.
Prati is a neighborhood for people who have been to Roma many times and want a place that has great Roman restaurants and markets (Trionfale and Mercato Cola di Rienzo). We also like Monti, but it is becoming too turisti.
My wife and I are going in Oct 2024, we are planning to follow your e-bike plan. Thanks for that! If we also stop by the Callixtus Catacombs, how do we secure the bikes? does the rental place give you locks?
The rental company does supply you with locks, but be sure to get two not just one the more you can secure the better things tend to get ripped off in Rome
After watching what did you think? If you are stying for a long period of time I think you will appreciate it more meaning several weeks. It is more like a typical neighborhood. Trastevere is an option has a bit more personality and the streets are more pedestrian friendly than Testacio. I like Testacio but I do not think it is ideal if it is your first visit. Check out Hotel Santa Maria if it is in your budget it is a great place to stay.
Hello there! Our trip to Rome is scheduled for October and we already started to book some hotel. However, we read online that the metro A Line is closed?? This is a major point as we should use public transportation.. could you pleqse give us some news on that as it metro should be closed for almost a year??
They are doing construction and it will only affect certain stations not the entire line. Here are a coupe of stations that will be affected. Rome's Line A Spagna metro station is scheduled to be closed from July 15th to October 3rd. The Ottaviano metro stop on the same line will be shut from July 22nd to September 9th
Visiting for my first time soon. I'm staying in Monti. I want to go to a concert at a club 16km from where I'm staying, I assume like a suburb. I know how to get a taxi to get to the club, but getting back I'm not so sure. Can I call a taxi after the concert? I'll have an Italian sim in my phone but my speaking skills are slightly above beginner.
In the city center is is easy t find a taxi station but outside it is much more difficult. Get the app FREENOW which works great in Rome and a taxi will come to you. There are other apps as well but FREENOW is very popular in Rome.
After watching the video, what does your gut tell you? I think it’s best to stick near the Lago Argentina/Como de Foti area. Everything is pretty much walkable from there with a few exceptions and when I say walkable, most things are within 5 to 10 minutes and some things much closer.
It sounds like I should book my hotel in Monti instead of staying in the Termini location. I want to take a subway to Florence, Naples, Venice and be safe
It is not like it is super unsafe or anything, there are several hotels in nearby, short walk to Santa Maria Maggiore. If the price is right go for it! I personally like to be in a more central location. I do not mind riding the metro or bus I just don't like being reliant on them
@@RozierRoma well im a person who likes to walk, im not catching the subway, from the hotel ferrarese it's just 15 minutes to the coliseum and from there i could walk to many other places, it's just the unsafe part of the termini station that worries me most, some people told that it wasnt safe at night, thats why i was asking, Thank you keep up with the good work
@@brunosousa5117 half of safety is in the mind if you don’t feel comfortable then it’s harder to relax and enjoy the evening even if you’re not in danger. Personally, I find the area more uncomfortable than actually unsafe if you are not going to take the metro or bus then I really recommend you find a more centrally located location. I know it looks close, but you’re quite a ways from, most of the things she came to Rome to see. Check out the air near Lago Argentina.
Duhh!! You want to stay in a central location close to everything. Get ready to pay an extra $200 per night or else stay in a lower quality hotel. Hotels are super expensive in Rome.
Here is a great option for you.www.airbnb.com/rooms/37580592?guests=1&adults=1&s=67&unique_share_id=146c1a82-7ab0-4af6-b7be-9341aa95f939. Located in Tivoli, a short train ride from Rome, plus the town of Tivoli is great. The Airbnb has 2 bedrooms and cost about $100 per night, saving you hundreds per night compared to staying in the Rome center. It will be a better experience that you can imagine. Good luck!
Did anyone else find Rome difficult to Navigate? A five minute walk from Piazza Novana to the Pantheon took 1/2 hour. I kept thinking I was headed in one direction but was actually going the opposite way. There's no grid! Its all narrow winding streets.😊
All ancient cities in Italy are like this. The streets grid was just something Romans did, in some measure: decumanus and cardo were the two main streets that crossed orthogonally in the centre of the city (the forum), and from them started the other streets. But the secondary streets were quite weirdily traced. And in the Middle Ages, when the cities were built on hills and enclosed in walls, the limited space and the defence needs brought to very narrow and winding streets.

@@RozierRoma thanks a lot !
We stayed not far from Santa Maria'. Not too bad, but not something i would choose. I was with a group. Trevi area is way too busy for me. Great video. Thanks for sharing.😊
That is also how I feel about Trevi. Basilica di Santa Maria is one of my favorites
Great location, too many people! Thanks for the details, much appreciated!
I just left Harry's bar for lunch about 30 min agp
So helpful, planning my Jubilee stay in 2025.
Considering going to all the Basilicas, where would you suggest?
Still the Trastevere?
I would stay wherever I could find a good airbnb between Trastevere, Monti, Largo Argentina and Navona. 2025 could get quite expensive especially if you do not book well in advance. Most hotels in Rome are already priced higher than normal for Jubilee.
Hi! Which hotel would you suggest?
-NH Collection Roma Palazzo
-NH Collection Roma Fori Imperiali
-Palazzo Navona Hotel
The Roma Palazzo I have actually been in, friendly staff and nice but for me too close to the station. Fori Imperiali I have never been to but nice location, much better than the first. Navona hotel I am very familiar with the location. Also very good allowing you to walk to many sites. It is a coin toss between the last 2. Good luck!
what month are you going?
Not so much were to eat in Florence but it has 2 of my favorite Airbnbs I have ever stayed at.1:www.airbnb.com/rooms/14846015?guests=1&adults=1&s=67&unique_share_id=c1727945-bf1b-4576-9f7a-bb53a79c2f0c & 2:www.airbnb.com/rooms/812001?guests=1&adults=1&s=67&unique_share_id=e5b726ca-a09d-460e-9977-4532255a3d8c
In Naples give Nannella a try.for lunch or dinner. Get there a little beofre it opens as it get packed
Very good info! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
How about Via Veneto? Or it logically belongs to Spanish Steps? It’s not exactly the same I would say. Thank you very much for the great video
I kinda look at it as part of the Spanish Steps area. Nice clean area and if you are into shopping it may be ideal.
Just arrange for a taxi to pick you up at your hotel as early as you need a great app to use For taxis is Freenow
thank you for your reply! We are going in the early-mid November.
Hi. How did u create the map with a central point and multiple way points?
Thanks for the videos. Very helpful
I use Google my maps. If you play around with it a bit you will figure it out
My dear friend 💗 your recommendations about Rome, especially about location to stay, are amazing and made my travel here one of the best experiences. Thanks for your great work and advice. Rome is good to return to thanks to you😘😘😘
Very, very good to hear! Curious where di you end up staying?
For us we love the Monti area. We will be returning in 2026.
Going back to Monti? Or try something new?
@@RozierRoma We are thinking of Piazza Navona. Looking at 5 days in Rome then couple day in Naples and after that who knows
changing neighborhoods makes Rome seem like a new city. each are so different.
Can you give us some hotels in your favorite area to look into? I’d love to stay there in April.
Here isa short video I did about some of our favorite hotels.th-cam.com/video/qVhgZI7TFQo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=q0O0BfqPnlCEbdeN
In Tivoli can I ask the name of hotel my trip is coming up and I love Tivoli that you showed thank you in advance
Sure! www.airbnb.com/rooms/37580592?guests=1&adults=1&s=67&unique_share_id=1b09a8cd-2a3a-49c7-84e7-967e1ce4fd75
Prati is a neighborhood for people who have been to Roma many times and want a place that has great Roman restaurants and markets (Trionfale and Mercato Cola di Rienzo). We also like Monti, but it is becoming too turisti.
Agreed and that is why I like Monti in the off season.
👍
Glad you liked it!
We will be staying in Hotel Villa San Pio near the Testacio neighborhood in April 2025. Good location or should I find another hotel?
So the basilica of Mary Major is not in the Vatican area?
It is near Termini station
So, first time visit. Staying 3-4 days. Want to see as many ‘tourist’ spots as possible…where do you recommend?
After watching the video, what does your gut tell you? I think it’s best to stick near the Lago Argentina/Como de Foti area. Everything is pretty much walkable from there with a few exceptions and when I say walkable, most things are within 5 to 10 minutes and some things much closer.
@@RozierRomathank you.
17:56. That guy has been camped there for years.
Prime location! If I were homeless that is where I would want to be
It sounds like I should book my hotel in Monti instead of staying in the Termini location. I want to take a subway to Florence, Naples, Venice and be safe
I think you will be safe in both locations but i think you will enjoy Monti much better, only 5 minute metro ride to Termini.
Is the zone near hotel ferrarese safe at night? I want to go 3 days to rome and im staying near termini station, in hotel ferrarese.
@@RozierRoma Thank you so much, im on a tight budget, what would be the best place that you recommend, not to expensive and more central in rome?
What month of year are you going?
Duhh!! You want to stay in a central location close to everything. Get ready to pay an extra $200 per night or else stay in a lower quality hotel. Hotels are super expensive in Rome.
Thant why I tell people to visit Rome in off season or August, many options around €100
Where to stay the best with 3 kids and a car? On a budget..
So true!
Even with Google maps?
