I really appreciate that! I have a really good video I am just finishing up that will be posted in the next couple of days about best locations to stay in Rome. Give it a watch if you have a minute
I can see that you put a lot into them... I am actually watching another one right now! Thanks for your hard work. I will definitely go to Tivili, too!
Glad to hear. There’s a saying that Rome was not built in a day, nor is planning a trip to Rome planned in a day. Glad to hear you’re enjoying my videos. Hope you have a great visit.
Very informative, thank you. We spent a week in Rome some years ago and have seen about half of the sites on your itinerary. I like the way that you have laid out the major highlights, explained what is noteworthy and thrown in some of your favourite informal eateries.
We’ve been going twice a year for 8 years, first ever time was 2 nights. We soon learnt then that was not enough. We always do 4 nights now. We will continue going here until we can no longer travel. We love the sitting and watching the world go by.
Thank you so much for the video. I just noticed a lot of places that I missed, so close to my hotel. Now I’m ready to see them on the next trip to Rome someday.
I don’t know how I missed this video before we went. We surely could have used it. We wandered, walked so far and still didn’t see all of these sites. You need a game plane for Rome. You also need to be physically prepared for Italy in general. You will walk a LOT. You will climb many hills and steep stairs because they build all of the towns on hilltops, and all the surfaces will be uneven, which will wear your feet out more than walking on smooth surfaces. Prepare!
I am glad you said that. People think walking is so easy and they do not prepare, Older people make the mistake of not walking 20,000 steps a day for 10 or so day before arrival and young people forget to wear comfortable shoes. I see people all the time with shoes off tending to their feet. On average expext to walk 15,000 to 25,000 steps a day while in Rome. We average 18,000.
Your videos are really great, thank you. I have been to Rome several times, and will visit again shortly. Why I think your videos are a cut above the rest is that they get down and personal with the streets of Rome and not just focus on the Cistine Chapel and other famous buildings.
Thanks! You are going to have a great time! The more prep you can do will make your visit much better but even with the best prep expect the unexpected! If you have any question let me know.
I am planning a visit to Italy for next year. My husband and I are taking my mother-in-law and her sister to their bucket list trip. Thank you for the wonderful information. Can you give me the link to the Kamoot app? The other question is what is your recommendation of the largest suitcase for on the trains? We are traveling for 2 weeks splittng our time in Italy and Greece.
The trains have luggage racks above the seats and at the entrance of each cabin. If you stick your luggage where you can’t see it it is best to use some kind of locking device so you can secure it to the pole just to be safe. In my opinion, the smaller, the better, the lighter the better. If you find you do not have enough socks, shirts, whatever else you can always pick it up in Italy, so you really don’t need to pack that much.
That would be awesome! I hope we can make it work. I will be in Rome only for the first week of August then heading home to visit the kids, back in Rome in October.
I changed some of my video descriptions so I must have accidentally deleted it. here it is www.komoot.com/tour/1267303108?share_token=aFn75i3LTnLkJF7KQYCUuFYkNxiLiesB1R74vbZj2ftRPiWtQZ&ref=wtd
We are going on a cruise in October 2025 and we are spending 4 days in Rome before the cruise. This will be our 3rd visit to Rome. We absolutely love visiting Italy. We have even thought about staying in Italy 3 or 4 months a year once we retire.
Sounds like a great plan. I think we all kinda appreciate the focus on healthy food,Heritage, art, and community. We love the fact that healthy food is such a high priority in Italy as I believe it’s the foundation to a healthy life.
Hi! What are your thoughts about staying in Tivoli and doing a day trip to Rome instead? I’m trying to do a more affordable alternative but still experience Rome as it should. Thank you
I love Tivoli!! Here is a video that may answer your question.th-cam.com/video/9Wxxp7ShKDY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Iryi2QE51wNsOZba. Of the 5 I mention Tivoli is really the best option and in many ways it offer a better overall experience than staying in Rome. 1 disadvantage is the late evenings and early mornings are very nice in Rome. You can get very good airbnb 2 bedrooms for under €90 per night. Trains to Rome are about €3 each way. I hope that helps
Very helpful! Going to Rome for the first time in late August this year and we'll definitely try the 10km walk. What do you think is a good rainy day itinerary in Rome? The forecast says it will rain on a Sunday so doing your Sunday e-bike itinerary is a no-go.
I did not mention this in the video but in peak season Sunday is not a very good day for bike ride via appia antica as it is too busy. Best for a weekday. As far as rain it likely will not change your plans as if it does rain is is usually for a few minutes here or there and not usually a problem. You may need an umbrella but otherwise just plan as usual is my advise. Have fun!
This Friday we are releasing a 70 plus page booklet that can be downloaded. It will be included with the Travel Guida or the booklet can be purchase do for $10. For the Guida you would need internet,
I love your videos! I've been to Rome 6 times over the past 20 years and there's always something new to see and do. Next year, I'm taking a family of 4 with me to see Rome for 4 days. Do you have any advice for a good family friendly hotel?
If you are open to an Airbnb I have a great option for you. This is one of my favorites and I have stayed a lot in Rome. www.airbnb.com/rooms/14768240?source_impression_id=p3_1722703381_P3ki72iPHppMhrJb Nice having a kitchen and the hosts are perfect. Location is also perfect so close to so much!
Hi, really helpful video, thank you. Just one thing I want to ask you. Having watched several of your videos, I must ask, why do you refer to The Trevi Fountain as "Trevi's fountain" At first, I thought I'd misheard, but you do seem to call it this regularly. Your videos are really helpful, but this puzzles me. 😊
I appreciate the comment and question. Bad habit mostly. The Fountain in Italian is La Fontana di Trevi, " The Fountain of Trevi" and would translate to Trevi's Fountain, a fountain belonging to the Trevi district.. I know it is supposed to be Trevi Fountain, bad habit. Just FYI you are not the only person that this has annoyed, In the future I will get it right!,
I have an older and new video about lines at Vatican. The only thing that changed are hours. The Basilica now opens at 7:00am, rooftop 8:00am and museum 8:00am. Glad to help

Four nights in Rome it’s just the right amount of time giving you a good sense of Rome or a renewal of Rome beyond that you become a resident

wheres the link?
So sorry I just added the link.

You’re very informative… can you please take that hard rock out.. none of us looking at your channel are punkers
I'll try to choose more relaxed music. This vid I though was not too extreme, Some of my others may have been.
Three days in Rome only? That's silly
Some come for only 1 day. 3 days 4 night is a good amount of time for your first visit.
Not if you are also trying to see other parts of Italy. There’s so much more than Rome!
