  • The sensitivity level are in factory settings on both pin pointers. It’s no point increase the sensitivity in the Pro Pointer, because then the Jeemak wouldn’t stand a chance.

    I use a the Jeemak pointer tested here, I find it to be overly sensitive in highly mineralized ground and tends to false a lot. I believe it to be better than whites bulls eye 1 and 2 and better than the bounty hunter brand but it is not as good as the Garrett pro pointer but for the $25 I paid for it I am well satisfied and would recommend it to any who can't justify the $125+ for the garret. I think $125 would be better spent on coils.

    It's not a depth meter, it's a pin-pointer. your metal detector is for finding depth, the pin-pointer is for pin-pointing. If you are going to compare them, do it by seeing which one actually only responds when the target is directly in front of the device. It's the ability to PIN-POINT is what makes the tool valuable, not it's ability to detect at greater distance.

    Hardly a fair test with the sensitivity settings at low. Maybe the Chinese version can't go as low. I would call that a fail. It should be tested at high sensitivity. I have a feeling that if you did a real world test you would find the Garrett helps you find your targets faster. As always, You get what you pay for.

    It's called a "pinpointer" the longer the distance it can detect metal the less performance at pinpointing.Video is the opposite. It shouldn't go off unless you are right on it or very close. You don't want it to give you a 5" radius otherwise just use your regular metal detector.

    I use the Garrett THD, which is made for Security.....they are made for commercial use, and NOT commonly faked like the "metal detecting" pin pointers......they are alittle more touchy, but can detect on the Nose OR 360......so I can sweep a dirt pile too....and it doesn't beep! It vibrates, which makes it WAY easier for me.....I can "feel" it, not hear it....the only thing you need to do, is put Duct Tape over the nose, to cover the flashlight bulb for when you probe dirt.

    A pin pointer is just that a pin pointer - you want something reliable that will not fall apart in the field or quit the first raindrop it sees. plus you want something that is able to be calibrated for high mineral areas, there is much more to a piece of equipment than this test shows.

    What was the sensitivity set on on the Garrett pro

    • @davidacevedo8620
      @davidacevedo8620 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, the guy explained it from the beginning, the Garrett was at its lowest, but then, so was the other. Thinking about the why would you want a pointer that detects from 5, 6, 7 inches away because you have the larger detector. Well, I guess that when you're kneeling down looking for something small as a coin or a nugget or whatever, it's a lot easier to use your pointer opposite the large detector, I bet it gets clumsy and cumbersome. I'd rather have the carrot if it is under five inches deep, it is a lot lighter than the detectors and easier to manage. What you guys think?

  • @chrisphillips408
    @chrisphillips408 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Duh! The Garrett has three sensitivity settings dude!
    Six settings altogether counting the vibrate only ones.
    It’s waterproof up to three meters!
    It has sensitivity along the shaft as well as tip.
    Has a distance ruler along the shaft.
    Has a beacon beep to help find it if you leave it on the ground.
    Retune (ground balance feature) if falsing over hot ground!
    Superb customer service if you have to return product for servicing!
    Try returning the Chinese product for servicing or replacement and see what happens.
    I’ve got the cheap ones that were thrown in as package deals with detectors and I’ve got the Garrett “carrot “.
    There is no comparison.

Out of 10 of them I have purchased, some have way better sensitivity and some really suck and barely detect more than 1/2 an inch from an object. I wonder why some of them which are the exact same models work better than others? Quality control issues maybe?

    The biggest problem I find with most pinpointers is when searching for sub-gram nuggets in the heavily mineralised soil, full of ironstone like we get in the Australian goldfields is that you get a lot of false signals, making it difficult to pinpoint. Treasure hunting in moderate soil, most pinpointers are ok on coins and jewellery but when it comes to small nuggets the slow dirt sampling over the detector coil still works the best.

    Interesting 🤔 I have two Garrett probes not the carrot 🥕 but the older black ones and the 2 nd one is starting to false like what happened to my first one, admitted they are about 5 year old just wondering if it is worth sending for repair or buy a cheap Chinese one 🤔

    Intressant.

    I’m not sure this is a fair comparison. First, my Garrett Pinpointer Pro connects to my wireless headset so all the sounds from my Garrett AT Pro and Pinpointer are both in my headset. If the Chinese cheap one doesn’t have the ability to interface with my headset I don’t care if it was given to me, I’d rather buy the Garrett. Second, you didn’t adjust the sensitivity of the either of the pointers. I have mine set on the most sensitive-level 3.

    Why would you want a pointer to detect things from a long distance ? Doesn’t make sense. I’ve owned both, you’ll find things easier and quicker with the Garrett believe me, and it’ll last forever.

    Garrett pinpointer are the best! You had the Garrett on the very lowest setting. Bad testing report. You must first learn how to use the pin pointer features before testing. Unfair and false test reporting.
