Seen another vid on these and the problem with these cheapies is the coil in them is not pushed down inside the body of the pointer. A strong flashlight on the side actually showed it an inch or so from the tip. Chap fixed it by pulling rubber grommit off switch and pushing coil down with piece of wire, even fast flicking unit and bringing it to dead stop got the coil further down to tip. Still not as good as "carrot" but improved. You can also get better range by pre-loading ( slide metal strip along pointer till it signals then back off till it stops, hold strip in place with rubber band and there you go, works on all pointers if you need more depth )
Hay up Paul it's bottle top Paul here lol 😆 just got one them cheap pinpointers mine is a GP Go pinpointer of ebay mine works fine use to have the minelab 35 but this one for £13 is great doesn't matter if you lose it for £13 quid lol 😀 all the best from Paul from Staffordshire 🇬🇧 👍
in fairness my cheap dp pointer works really well and picks up a lot better than the one your testing they cost 15.99 on ebay and if its not your choice of pointer its a good back up one to have ,i also have had several of the branded pointers and some of them are crap and cost 6 times more mine will find anything i dig with no problems and yes it finds nails and pipes and stud walls for fun in the house ,but each to their own
I have one of the Winner pointers. Thought it had died on me within couple of uses, kept beeping after being near any metal target when I was in the field or sometimes just randomly when switched on. After finding a TH-cam video about them I took it apart and found the ferrite rod was about an inch or so from the end and the connecting wires only had a laquer for insulation so thought they were shorting on the PCB so insulated them with tape. Worked fine in the house but played up in the field again. Tried a brand new battery and it cured the issue, now works fine. I think the battery I was using was a bit low, so when it got cold there wasn't enough power, in the house it was warm enough. A bit better distance for targets than you got, but it is 10 times cheaper than the Garrett so will do until I can afford a better one.
My dear, thank you for your recognition. We have two models and one of the upgraded waterproof models. If the sound of beeping beep is to remind you that the battery is out of power, you need to replace the battery.
Try a piece of aluminum foil, crumple it up to the size of a BB, and see if it detects when put at the tip of the probe. If not then the internal coil may not be fully seated to the tip. To seat coil tap the coil probe tip to the palm of your hand, and repeat till it passes the BB test. Keep in mind the wire is wound around a ferrite coil which are on the fragile side. Also look up "Super tuning GP pinpointer" for increasing the range on the Chinese cheapie.
Love my Carrot, tried a couple of cheap ones before but they were awful! Oh thanks for the stickers Paul, I'll be putting one on my spade for all to see on my next vids 😀
They are well good my GP Pointer will hit the same as the Garrett pointer, watch the TH-cam video on how to super fine tune a GP Pointer there is a couple, the 1 you want to watch is when he put sticks a bit of metal on the side of it, you will be shocked. 😮😮
@@RingPullPaulMetalDetecting cheers Paul. There’s a crossover with what I do and detecting. They both provide a huge thrill when you find something beautiful. Both are addictive and I’m looking forward to getting back into detecting.
Thanks so much Paul for your brilliant information and advice on this, I will have to save up and get the garett carrot 🥕 maybe?.what is your opinion on the pointer that comes with the simplex + please bud.!regards kelv. 😊😊
I have a knockoff one that is way more sensitive than the one you are using. I think it's just a chance thing as QC isn't going to be there for a $18 pinpointer
@@RingPullPaulMetalDetecting ohhhh k I see makes sense tbh lol again I'm new to all this so thanks for the tips mate and I hope I get to hunting qnd exploring real soon .. Nice 1 👊🏻💯
I got a Dewinner and it gives a lot of false positives or it will keep beeping after getting a target and it just keeps going. You can't trust it! Makes you waste time.
Mine is better lol about 5 inches away. I’m using the best batteries I think my torch is very bright to. Yours seems like it is dead. Mine is definitely better and it’s the same so that don’t make sense
I have a cheapo pin pointer had it 2 years now, maybe I got lucky, so purchased the same again. Hey its just as perfect get 2 inches yep I could get me a Garret but this cheap shitty thing as served me well so nah no carret for me mate save your money I am a brummie just like you mate times are hard at the minute.
Fair play if it works like a Garrett I would use one too. I couldn't use the one I brought it was terrible. Guess it's pot luck really which ones you buy.
@@RingPullPaulMetalDetecting Hey Paul thanks for the reply. Like you said I just got lucky. Will get me a Garrett at some point. The name of the pin pointer, and I have 2 now lol is Homealexa
Rad!🤙🏻.. Thanks for Documenting/posting. Cheers from AZ/Morristown. Personally, I don’t mind how far away it registers. The less range, the better for a pin-pointer… Makes the job easier as range is the job of the Big detector, the pin-pointer is for clean out. A Cheap, Small, Thin, palm sized pointer that’s Water proof and has 1 inch range Max is perfect in my book.. Fair play mate at least you fixed it. Strange how they made them that way when a few little tweeks and they would have a working pointer.
I don’t know what he is going on about mine is fine and works 5 inches away. New battery lol

I love my Pudibe. Same as yours, but a darker green, and clip holder molded to the body instead of a ring for the cap.

My generic one works great. It's a basic metal detector. As long as it's made of good materials the only difference is the price...
Good vid mate,Good luck Sunday 🤞

No problem I'm glad you got them ok 🙂. It's the first time I've tried one and can't believe how terrible they are. 😲

Great video buddy. It just shows the cheap imitations are just a rip off.
Yes a total waste of time.

Aren't pinpointers supposed to be for closeup pinpointing after locating with a big more expensive coil detector?
Sweep first?
Regards, Jas.
Yes but if sensitivity poor it takes longer to find item in hole.
very nice !!! like from Brasil !!!

I'm not sure mate I've never used one of them if I'm honest. Can't go wrong with the carrot though.

i brought one complete junk it was intune with my detector use to drive me nuts will buy a minelab one soon.
Oh that's even worse. Can't find object in hole but also drives detector crazy too lol.
Hiya, new to all 5u8s, how deep down do these things detect?
Hi not deep at all really and it depends on the size of the target. Maybe 2 inch on a coin.
So nit really any good for going out like proppa detecting missions?
@@Aj-io7hp No you just use it for finding the target in the hole. That's when you have found a signal with you proper detector.
