Holy moly! How did I miss this video drop? It was great meeting up with you, Ezekiel. The half radiator swap is done on the FX16 and it’s ready to party. It would be cool for us to have my FX16 and your GTS at your shop and we can argue which is the superior chassis for the 4AGE 😊. We can have a finger sticks ばてる!(battle)

Two of my favorite toyota guys in the same vid?! Sushpants has been a huge inspiration for me to upgrade and build my Ae101 and he kinda put into Word of why we put so much time into these old, run down, unloved clunkers, they're fun, and the fun factor is far more important for the enjoyment of the a car than speed or track times.

Haha thanks for the kind words. I watched PLENTY of his videos before I even knew who he was, much less that he was local.

My second car was an 87 fx16 usdm. I had no clue what I had back then now almost 23 years later we’ve got enthusiast preserving vehicle’s. I love it. I really wish I still had mine. 😞

Hey Sushpants I'm sorry to hear about your mum :( Thanks for the detail and enthusiasm for this platform and all things Toyota high performance! We are AE bros. I've got an AE111 GT that came stock with the fantastic 4AGE 20 Valve Blacktop and C160 6 speed (non LSD) box and I love it :) Same setup in other words!

I have a stock 85' EUDM AE82, it is a mix match of the USDM & JDM :
Map sensor & no egr but engine bay is like the usdm
    Jdm bumpers
Inverted badges on the front grill
Twincam 16 lettering but way smaller than the jdm
    Us gauges
    Jdm cobe hole
    Jdm steering wheel
No black trim on the hatch tho, the only thing that really sets it apart from theses two

I think part of the big differences between the JDM and USDM (build quality) you are seeing is also due to the way cars are treated in the US VS Japan. Let alone the vast mileage difference alone is usually close to 100k mile difference. Many JDM imports are sub 150K kilometers vs a ton of Toyotas of this era are well past the 200k+ mile chassis mileage and very worn through.

Would love to do one! Although just like FX16, very tough to find a clean, well built example.

FX16 GTS is super cool, but I had a 1.8 16v GTi and it felt a lot more powerful than the USDM 4AGE.

Back in 93 had a choice between a 87 FX16 and a 87 Celica ST both around the same price. I picked the Celica. Good car but the FX was more fun driving. Redeeed myself on 96 by getting a 89 Corolla GTS

Hey man I was wondering if you did new suspension ? I own a 1987 fx16 with blown struts. I don’t mind going after market. But I was wondering if you knew any other struts / springs I could use from other vehicles. Thanks for your time. Love your videos 🤟🏻
