      Your logic is sound, but the conclusion is only as valid as your assumptions and we don't know the full context, that includes if the mother feels she is going to relapse into alchoolims and die anyhow as her heart is barely holding. So we sometimes have to deffer to others and understand that we don't have all the cards.

    • @tintinismybelgian

      It may have been an old episode, filmed before the 20 week benchmark. Or it may be that the resources at the TV show's hospital were not as sophisticated as those at the real-life hospital that supported the 20 week premature child.

    • @Teastruct2

      There is less than 10 % chance at 22 weeks to survive and they can have severe problems from being born too early. At 24 weeks the chances of survival are 40 to 70 %. I would also think a baby that small would need specialized care that not all hospitals can provide.

      @bevybaby1587 ปีที่แล้ว +35

      Those cases you are referring to are PRETTY rare. Of course, there have been Babys born that far along on the pregnancy and survived but their chances are pretty low. Most of all the chances that the baby doesnt suffer lasting health problems from being born that early in pregnancy are pretty much Zero.

    • @TheYasmineFlower
      @TheYasmineFlower ปีที่แล้ว +29

      Just because some foetuses can survive birth at 21 weeks or even 20 weeks doesn't mean that all can - AND, it doesn't mean that being born that early is a good thing. Premature birth can have severe consequences for the child on all levels.
      Birth before 24 weeks gestation, the chance of survival is less than 50%.
      The survival rate at 24 weeks is 60-70%. But that means you have a 30-40% chance of death, either at birth or afterwards.
      Premature birth is not something simple or easy to get through. It is devastating for most people who go through it.

Everytime she has a medical issue, her and my step-dad either ignore it or won't let her explain her issue correctly, since she has to have someone go for her as we live and have doctors in Spain and she doesn't know the language, so unless I go, neither of them will tell the doctors her opinions, and what is causing her pain and my mom will only yell at her to shut up and tell the doctors what she thinks is happening

      That is satisfying for me, too. But, unfortunately, the general public that has no medical knowledge will often take it as fact. We call it a lunapark and it is ment to trick your brain a little. Including the ones who were brought into the world via surrogacy but were rejected by the birth parents when they didn't turn out how they wanted. There was a couple from China who went through loads of rounds of IVF only to put the twins up for adoption when they turned out to be girls. In that case there seems to be a good reason for infertility.
