Boeing safety issue is a gift to COMAC. It literally opens the door for COMAC to come in. Don't need to compete very much because safety is the lifeblood of a commercial aircraft. Boeing is now in ICU. Another major factor is supply issues. For many years Boeing and Airbus dominated the commercial aircraft market. They got too complacent. Now they are plagued with declining quality control and failure to meet their orders. Another gift to COMAC. But to me the most important reason why COMAC will succeed is because it is able to offer a good and reliable product at a competitive price. Like it or not, this is attractive to most airlines. As to the often criticized government subsidy by the Chinese government and unfair competition, lets be honest about it. Most government subsidize industries that are of national interest to them, especially at the nascent stage. Without initial government subsidy Airbus would not had succeeded. Likewise too Boeing. The US now has its Chips and Science Act and the EU too has something similar to grow their tech industry...Diary products subsidy in the EU is another example. There is also another very important reason which will never be mentioned. Geo-politics. When the US n EU sanctioned Russia, they cut off all aircraft parts to Russia to destroy its aviation industry. The world took notice.....
why do not ISRO focus on airplanes. You can send rovers to moon and mars. Certainly u can make airplanes with some Russian help. lets make some Antanovs and pay for Russian spares in rupees.
i have a (probably right) theory about why they didnt certificate C919 if they did that it would make even more companies wanting to buy them because its just cheaper and more reliable since as u have said up there Boeing is having problems and Airbus overproducing means less quality and safety
What did FAA and EASA do when 737-max(es) went down? What did they do when it was very well known that the Boeing spares and their replacement scheduling were not meeting the required quality standards? Yet knowingly, both FAA ad EASA let the Boeing 737-Max fly in the world skies. What happened to the crash of A340 from Brazil to France around 2010? and the famous MH370 featuring the flagship Boeing 777, disappearing without a trace a few years later? Whatever they did was AFTER the fact, and not any preventive measure to begin with. Air safety depends on how effective and proactive the engineering departments, engineering planners, engineering schedulers for repairs and replacements are. Chinese are not idiots...in fact they care MORE about humans than we think that we do. The Aerospace frontiers have been lost forever to Russia and China. Just wait another 20 years or so and you will see the graveyards of Boeings and Airbuses all over!

Boeing and Airbus are probably at least 30%-40% more expensive than the Chinese built planes. Why? Simple cost of labor difference between them. It cost about $10K-$15K for an engineer in China. In the West, it cost at least $70K-$80K for engineer. On top of that, once production gets going, and China ramps up, China is going to drive down the price of the planes more just like everything China has touched. i think the main reason is that China will deliver the jets in months but boeing and airbus are requiring 3 years to start the deliver, and they want to compete soon as possible with current aviation companies operating in Brazil.
You have answered the reason why Brazil may start buying Chinese jets. But will the aircraft be safe? That is another issue. I find that Chinese are not linear in thinking. So many of the auto parts I buy from them are put together all wrong. So, if my land vehicle shuts down on a trip, I can coast over to the side. But a poorly designed jet is too dangerous to ever fly in.
Douglas amalgamated with McDonnell in the late 1960's. McDonnell Douglas then amalgamated with Boeing in 1997. Bombardier are still going strong despite near bankruptcy and a restructure last decade. The later build business jets rather than airliners.
Hope this makes airfare cheaper for us all !! Good job China introducing competition, the winner will be everyone. This will push Boeing to develop better airplanes too, with the recent issues they really need this push. I believe China have the capability to be competitive as they have done with almost all other industries. Eager to see the competition between COMAC, Boeing and Airbus! Hopefully it will lead to more innovations
All of the non critical. When it comes to engines an avionics very little of them are Chinese. The Chinese for example can't build a good jet engine. Their best is the WS15 which powers their J20 & J35 fighters requires considerably more maintenance than western engines.

I'd think these will be used for cargo hauling. Unless Brazil has its own aircraft certification program I doubt they will fly with passengers in the near future.
With the dominance from Both Boeing and Airbus in the aviation industry I believe it will be difficult for COMAC to get certification for the C919. However I would love to see this aircraft get certified and see it flying worldwide. The C919 looks amazing
No actually. China has reciprocal certification agreements with the FAA and EASA. An aircraft signed off by any of these parties is automatically certified by the other two. I have no doubts the FAA and EASA will be directed by the West to ignore these agreements given the West's shitty attitude towards China.
Boeing is in trouble. It just layed off thousands of workers. Those workers should seek employment in COMAC. When an American company screwed you, just leave and offer your services to a growing company that more likely will treat you better.
For your information, those employees laid off were DEI and upper management. The new CEO is cleaning house of the filth that brought Boeing to its present predicament.
No problem ! I will fly Chinese. Boeing? I'm not flying. I am okay with AirBus 380 ....but not with EU .... I will choose flights by the aircraft they offer ....
COMAC can overcome the difficulty of validation by the FAA and EASA which will not cooperate; by establishing “DEMONSTRAED Life” for C919; a method was used in aging aircraft and accepted by UK-CAA snd FAA and used by US OEM companies.
The issue is many current boeing planes are facing end of the life since there has not been any replacement model being offered in the last few years. And Airbus might not be able to cope with increasing demands unless they quickly expand its operations to double its existing size which is not possible. Here within ASEAN, several contries ie Indonesia and Malaysia has shown interest whilst Brunei has confirmed their orders.

True. But getting concrete order confirmations will give them the confidence to expand production capacity. Because at the moment they don't have enough orders to justify huge expansion plans.
I guess you didn't know the C919 is considered a copy of the 737 aircraft; change a few aesthetic features and call it "new.". The only thing that didn't get replicated were the avionics systems (export restrictions by USA and Europe).
I will NEVER fly on this plane. Indonesia ordered several twin turboprops from China when I was there. After about 5 years, all were written off or broken never to fly again. One hard landing, the wings twisted so much that the engines hit the ground. 3rd world pilots + a 3rd world aircraft is a recipe for a short-lived enterprise.
"After about 5 years, all were written off or broken..." Stop lying. C919 was delivered to the first customer ever, China Eastern Airlines, in December 2022. It's now only 2024, so how has Indonesia been flying them for 5 years?
Brics, for one reason. Embraer also will get orders, just wait. And also, C919, and other models, when production starts answer demands, they will be very competitive
One problem is that if the aircraft is not allowed to fly in Europe or America it ha a limited market space since they shouldn't be allowed to fly over or land in Europe or America.
While it's nice to have the Euro/American market, if China can build enough planes to supply their own domestic and say African market, I think the plane should do ok. What COMAC needs now is more planes to be built and actual flying hours to build up it's operational/safety reputation.
Only with 1 airline in china, flew a couple of times and couldn't fly again after that. You would not know how many failures in china, ccp would never admit it happened.
There are 2 factors in the play, first BRICS in works, an example of the organization cooperation, second is the weaponization not only dollars and payment options but also sanction of spare parts. If US and UE don't like you anymore, they may ground your fleet.

When starting new plane model, you have to have know-how to make such a Proven Production Process ....
That why the planes cost so much, because many times it is failed process until it will come to the CORRECT PROVEN ONE ....
Chinese know for now, that fragmental know-how is not the full knowledge. They still lock on this and the western world is still controlling the production process, even in China .....
They can stole the blue prints, but w/o the production proven process it is impossible to deliver quality product that works .....
Just the last word.
When in the past China copied B707 and they have been thinking similar they eventually dropped down, because with time they saw themselves that they made major mistakes and it was Royal Total Failure ...
Chinese are learning and they are ambitious ...
If C919 will be at least partial success than C929 would benefit over it .....
As the channel said, it would benefit the customers, so we shall see ....
i think the main reason is that China will deliver the jets in months but boeing and airbus are requiring 3 years to start the deliver, and they want to compete soon as possible with current aviation companies operating in Brazil.
China's current aircraft production rate is not competitive yet.
@@danielocarey9392nobody knows but we know that boeing isn't
What happened to Douglas and Bombardier?

Welcome more competition and lower ticket price !

That's right!
Ok then let’s buy Russia’s MC21. A much better aircraft with proven Russian capabilities record.
just a reminder every boeing airplane has a ton of chinese parts in them.
All of the non critical. When it comes to engines an avionics very little of them are Chinese. The Chinese for example can't build a good jet engine. Their best is the WS15 which powers their J20 & J35 fighters requires considerably more maintenance than western engines.
Nope......
TEMU airplane. Lobby money corruption in Brazil. Prosecutors should start an investigation, before people get murdered in the plane.
Remember when you buy a new airplane like the c919. You got to good logistics support and parts avilability .

I was hoping to hear at least once Embraer being mentioned. It is Brazilian, and has a good reputation. The airline may have had good reason to choose the C919 over a "local" product, but it would have been nice to hear such reasons.
... I guess the answer is that Embraer's planes are smaller, therefore a different market.
5 years to the future.. My prediction.. West will complain about Overcapacity of Comac planes..
People used to talk crap about Japanese Cars, then they talk crap about Korean Cars, and now they talk crap about Chinese Cars and planes.
I'd think these will be used for cargo hauling. Unless Brazil has its own aircraft certification program I doubt they will fly with passengers in the near future.
Brazil has its own certification system.
CANT STAND THE HEAT THEN GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN !
With the dominance from Both Boeing and Airbus in the aviation industry I believe it will be difficult for COMAC to get certification for the C919. However I would love to see this aircraft get certified and see it flying worldwide. The C919 looks amazing
Aviation industry needs a strong rival like C919
"Looks amazing." "Looks" being the operative word. What has China offered this Brazilian outfit to buy their aircraft?
You do realise that China has reciprocal certification agreements with the FAA and EASA don't you?
@@FLIGAVIA it’s not a strong rival. Russias MC21 more logical choice.
The same regulatory agency that certified the Max will be evaluating the Comac? If the price is right, I don’t care where the aircraft came from.
Yep
No actually. China has reciprocal certification agreements with the FAA and EASA. An aircraft signed off by any of these parties is automatically certified by the other two. I have no doubts the FAA and EASA will be directed by the West to ignore these agreements given the West's shitty attitude towards China.
Boeing is in trouble. It just layed off thousands of workers. Those workers should seek employment in COMAC. When an American company screwed you, just leave and offer your services to a growing company that more likely will treat you better.
C919 could have been partly designed by expatriates resigned from Boeing and Airbus. We never know unless Comac discloses it.

COMAC can overcome the difficulty of validation by the FAA and EASA which will not cooperate; by establishing “DEMONSTRAED Life” for C919; a method was used in aging aircraft and accepted by UK-CAA snd FAA and used by US OEM companies.
Politics and propaganda apart, buying expensive products when cheaper, just as good (perhaps better) alternatives exist, is difficult to understand
So, why is china airlines not buying their supposed homegrown plane? Brazil is heavily indebted to communist politburo ran china.
This is an opportunity for manufacturers other than the big two!

One problem is that if the aircraft is not allowed to fly in Europe or America it ha a limited market space since they shouldn't be allowed to fly over or land in Europe or America.
That's right.
But if America and Europe do that, they will doom they own plan makers, because I'm sure they don't like the chines market to fly to😂😂
While it's nice to have the Euro/American market, if China can build enough planes to supply their own domestic and say African market, I think the plane should do ok. What COMAC needs now is more planes to be built and actual flying hours to build up it's operational/safety reputation.
The way Boeing is declining, it will not be long before you beg to fly on a Chinese plane rather than a Boeing plane!
