it's known as crows feet where the paint has cracked on the guard mines on my rear door and quater panel
my dad had one of these mercury wagons he took us kids to disneyland from minnesota i remember the back part laid down so the whole back was flat and i was little so i could hide in the very back with the seats closed down. guess that wasnt very smart but when you have a couple older brothers they talk you into anything. we even fooled my dad saying he had left me at the diner but i was actually in that back part . my dad bought 2 blow up mattresses so us kids could sleep along the trip . one thing i remember about that car was the back door would work like a swing door or a tail gate. my dad was proud of that and he had the rear suspension beefed up as he was pulling a holiday rambler travel trailer too. alot of memories in that car . we made it to disneyland and had a great time . thanx restored

I want to say that I am 54 years old (or is it 53? I'm too old, I can't remember. lol) and when I was a boy I went on a fishing and camping holiday with my best friend and his family through the interior of B.C. Canada. Starting from Beaverlodge, Alberta going into BC from that side. We drove in a 1967 Mercury station wagon just like this one but it was a cream color outside (Like this one's interior) and a green color inside lol. But a bit lighter than the outside color of this one. So every time I look at this one a lot of great memories come flooding back. That steering wheel shape and the whole interior are just etched into my youth! Thanks guys for the channel and hard work!
When I was ten years old, my dad bought a brand new 1968 mercury station wagon. White, with wood grain sides. Two way tailgate, opposing, flip up rear seats. Mom and dad had eight of us kids. We owned three or four station wagons. Nice video.

That is really a straight old wagon. A set of nice wheels and tires, and a few interior repairs, she'd make a great daily driver!
I'm proud of this family and channel...like sitting down and watching the dukes of Hazzard on Friday night. Jiffy pop no microwave ovens and the ice cream man coming around etc. When the country sat down to watch a show together...that now is RESTORED. There sister is hilarious and should do more narration and she reminds me of the blonde lady from original Jurassic park or that movie star who played Ralph's wife on Honeymooners...she's a character. 👍👍🏁😎Love this show...
You guys quit worrying about just winging it, it really is more about hanging out with you guys. The cars are a bonus and I’m sure most of us feel that way.
make sure you squeeze the trigger on the wand while your pulling the start, on the pressure washer. I owned my own pressure washing business for 14 years. Just have to be careful.
The end results are amazing. Wagons are my first choice, especially for my diecast business.

It's great to see a family work together at something they enjoy .
Also a advanced feature is the slipstream ram air deflectors in the rear pillars which redirected rammed air over the back window to keep dust and debris from settling on the rear screen .
I love that design I got the same thing on my 70 Dodge Monaco it's just bigger and mounted on the roof and those son of a guns sir Rams work great.
70 Monaco is a wagon but my 05 Durango SUV is basically a wagon with no air deflectors and that back door and window get absolutely filthy talk about technology 😂

Loved both videos because seeing a station wagon is better than old sports cars or truck, something new a different to see . I grow up with wagon in my life is good to see these back on the road again

Cool deal! She's coming around guys; shiny like dragon scales. ;-) A few imperfections, but this is just about a going to town rig once the exhaust and brakes are all set and maybe ignore that little issue with the driver's seat. Hope y'all keep doing the live thing, it'd be cool to join.

I really enjoyed the show last night. I have a station wagon that needs lots of work. Also have a model a street rod. I’m partial to the station wagons, so anything you can do to them will be great. Not a mechanic so I can’t help much in that area. Great to see father, son and daughter working together and having a good time.

I just discovered your channel this morning. I'm enjoying it. I really like the old Merc.
On your video, where you was working on getting the car started, you went to your phone to look up the firing order. Unless the intake manifold has been replaced with an aftermarket, any Big 3 engines Ford, GM, and Chrysler Corp has the firing order stamped or molded into the factory intakes right in front of or behind the carburator. If memory serves me correctly, Ford has their's behind the carb. GM and Chrysler Corp. has their's in front of the carb.
Also on the intake, each cylinder will be numbered on what they are. If I remember correctly on that, on V8s and V6 engines, if you are looking at the front of the engine, right side is off numbers and left is even numbers. On GM they're numbered in sequence, 1-4 on the right and 5-8 on the left.

That 67 Mercury deserves to be pampered and will shine up real pretty. Only things I’ll do is clean the chrome and paint protection and a new rear windshield and a period correct surf board on the roof.

The other Merc engine size was the 410ci , I believe it was a 390 bore with a 428 crank.....also the Ford Country Squire was top of the line wagon period. my first car was a 68 with almost all options. the rear seats are for the "9" passenger option (mine had them), the right hand mirror is extremely rare... The best riding wagon was the Cadillac (hearse-ambulance) . had a 65 and RR tracks were barely noticeable ...

With it being a mercury it could have came with vintage air. And being a commuter wagon it could have been a standard offering at the time. Awesome.

Part of the charm of this beauty is...it's not perfect! It can look very good for it's age, and still attract attention! If I could, I'd love to have it here in Arizona for a daily driver!
My parents had the Ford version of this wagon when I was a kid, and it had the fold up seats in the back as well. I spent a lot of time riding back there!

This is a pretty car. My dad sung in a gospel group when I was young and they had a pink station wagon a chevy I think and the back set faced backwards it was great.

I would keep the car as is and maybe give it a set of 5 spoke Torq Thruster wheels? Magnum 500 wheels? That's my choice if I had that car. The possibilities are endless. Just a matter of personal taste. Either way, it's a real gem. Great job getting it to run and cleaning it up, guys!

I had a 'Matchbox' toy car which it says is a Mercury Commuter (An odd choice of model, I always thought.) Possibly modelled on a '68 instead. Not sure now. Rare, like the real thing. It's a big boxy stylish thing and these were cool looking cars, then and now.

Very nice car... nice approach also you have to fixing up. One of my first toycars when i was a kid, was a 1:64 scale Mercury like that, made by Playart. I was then convinced it was a Ford Taunus estate (european car) :-) (of course there is a relation) . Estate cars are very cool imho. I still have my old Ford Granada estate (the european one!) i used to drive. A real barnfind; i find it every time i am in my barn... My 15 year old son has forbidden me to sell it. He wants to restore it together with me. He will have a cool driver when he will have his driver's license! Thank you for sharing your old car stuff, and keep on saving classics. I'm dying to get my hands on that old Merc! I used to detail trade ins, and repos for a few car dealerships back in the early 90s. I live 50 miles SE of Houston. I have all the equipment to do the job. If you don't feel like messing with the exterior clean up, I'd love to give it a go! Free of charge and just for kicks.
