    I just found your video, and it was just what I needed before I get started on replacing the rear calipers on my Seat Altea XL. Same brake system. Thank you so much for sharing this :) Great tip regarding singing for the brakes. Cheers from Denmark.

    Thanks for a very well made video. I’m just about to do this so it was extremely helpful. I might take a look at the calliper sliding bolts while I’m at it as not 100% it’s a stiff calliper piston yet but got two new rear callipers off Amazon for £66 as I noticed the handbrake sticking/not releasing fully.

    Great video! Just wanted to ask why the brake fluid only drips out? I thought once it’s undone it would gush out

    • @MrWatercooled
      @MrWatercooled ปีที่แล้ว

      If there's pressure or air in the line, then the fluid would gush out. Without either of those it will just drip.

    Good video John! Can I ask- Was that from gsf? Annoyingly I need a new rear drivers side caliper but when I looked they’re £97.74 with a discount code?! Just double checking that is where you picked it up as I know the box said Bendix but noticed the on the caliper itself, it looks like it says TRW?

    • @b33zo
      @b33zo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching DHC. The list price was £97.69 but when you return the old caliper (in the box) they refund £41.40 which gets it down to around £56. Cheers b33zo

    • @b33zo
      @b33zo  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching. Unlikely to be leaking from the metal line unless it has been damaged or has been cross-threaded during tightening. b33zo

      @b33zo  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@200329846 thanks again. Speaking as a DIY mechanic It sounds like going back to the beginning is the only option. Firstly if the caliper has been leaking theres a good chance air has entered to system. I would open the bonnet and see what the brake fluid level is. I do'nt recommend trying to repair the calliper piston seals just get a new one. If the metal pipe joint is leaking undo and reconnect the pipe properly then bleed the brakes. Good luck and wear gloves. b33zo

    a bit hit miss but basically right ! the worst part of this job is an believe me i know is the silly little transfer pipe from hose to caliper !!! your dripping brake fluid an poncing around trying to fit the end through the shiny new caliper sort of round hole !!! what a faff! plus why if you are the so called durch tec.... engineers would you leave the handbrake mechanism so exposed to salt .. road crud an.... RUST! really vag! you aint fooling me !!! good video by the way
