Also, verify the actual angle of your v-bits. It makes a big difference in how sharp your inner & outer corners are. Even a 1° difference can be noticable depending on the acuity of the figure angle & expected degree of the bit.

Great video Kevin! Glad you highlighted the capabilities and limitations for the cutters, most importantly the best cutter for the result you are trying to achieve. Starting out, I didn’t pay attention and didn’t take the time to fully understand each bit. I’ve come to terms and dedicated the time to study these critical principles.
Can Carbide Create do V-Carve paths with the same principles you covered on a curved surface?

At this point, there is no way to force a V-Carve toolpath onto a curved surface. We are constantly working on improvements to Create, which may lead to something in the future. Right now, you can create slots and features on a 3D object inside Create Pro. Then, cut all those features with the 3D toolpaths alone. The 3D tools in Create are artistic, not parametric. They are designed to accomplish various specialized tasks with speed and ease. Parametric modeling is the realm of other CAD programs.

Don't know if this is still monitored.....main reason (for now) that i'm getting a CNC is to do Blue LIne / Red LIne flags for fellow first responders. I've downloaded Carbide Create (free version to start learning it). Have saved the files for the stars 'examples' file. Does it have instructions as to how to run it (for a NEWBE) and can free version generate the GCODE (think i'm asking that right). Would love to 'carve this out as a first carve (although assume it's NOT one to start with, must be complex. Just planning ahead and working on the workbench my cnc will be mounted on.

Regarding your flag ideas, I suggest constructing some test files or projects for different elements you plan to use in your flag. Being new means there are a ton of things to learn outside of just the design goals you're trying to achieve. The more incremental testing or side projects that feature the elements you plan to use in the project you're aiming at, the better your final build will turn out.

Generating GCode is not needed if you own a Carbide 3D machine. Simply load the .c2d design file into Carbide Motion.
If you need to output G-Code, you'll need to purchase Carbide Create Pro. You gain extra features and capability at a fair price.
