Well said about Michoacán as my father says don’t go where u know trouble is bound to happen/occur. Beautiful state especially right now. Artesanal 15 day festival in Uruapan going on right now.
My family and I were just in Michoacán and police presence was more than Guanajuato and BCS. It felt safe at the touristy spots like the monarch biosphere. I would be cautious outside the normal tourist areas for sure.
Great interview with Ed. I was just in mazatlan Sinaloa last year and had a great time. At least along the malecón it felt very safe……women walking alone at night. I’m fluent in Spanish so that definitely helps. Locals told me that area is owned by cartel de Sinaloa and it’s understood that you don’t start shit or bother tourists there. Most tourism was from other parts of Mexico. Went to DF that same trip and loved that too
Yeah in states like sinoala the cartel don't mess with tourists. They know the heat that brings. Unless your a dea agent then of course you have a target on your back
Ed Calderon is truly a badass!! The amount of in depth knowledge he has and shares is second to none. And he does this knowing that it puts his life in danger every single day!!
Anybody remember when the Mexican government took property from US citizens that settled in a coastal town south of TJ sometime around late 80’s or early 90’s. People from San Diego retired there and spent a lot of money to improve their property’s and the had it confiscated. Straight lost everything
I was just Tijuana in 87. I had 5 other men with me from the service. One of my colleagues was Mexican descent but couldn't speak Spanish. We were stopped by the local police and they grab him and took off in the car. About a mile down the road they robbed him
Back in the 80s it was very common for cops to robbed Mexicans nationals that will go to TJ just to spend the day or the weekend, cartels did not were what they are now, it was cops the problem very corrupt.
Ed: people are very very friendly, TJ it’s inviting, but DO NOT COME HERE it’s corrupt police are corrupt, you will get jacked .. phone, and money … but we got god tacos
Bottom line, cross into Mexico and “you’re own your own”. Read that again. Ed is reporting on his observations. Anyone who is in the private security industry knows to Observe and Report.
Seems as though decriminalization of narcotics, especially, in the USA WOULD at least temporarily disrupt the Cartels flow of money. Which, ultimately, actually jas a tangible effect on the Cartels operations.
Summer of last year I went to Tijuana to visit my parents after I got back from deployment and I had just gotten a nice little 2014 bmw I’d get pulled over all the time because of my tinted windows when the tint was the standard tint from the manufacturer and everytime the municipales wanted money from me to let me go it really ruined my vacation in a city I love
Sorry to hear Man, Tj is like that though. One time, some dude tried to jack our car in mid-traffic in a well populated area. Yet, I still return. But it def always needs us to be super duper vigilant
The opposite happened to me recently. On April 5th, I was pulled over by a young cop who did everything by the book. Never asked for a bribe nor led me down that path. I had to have my car impounded to ensure I pay the fines (US vehicle). I went to court and busted a mission to get the proper paperwork in order to get my car out of the impound. Things are currently at a standstill due to a clerical error by the tow company. I hope to get it solved today. I'm just hoping my car is in the condition that I had it. I'll document my experience on my TH-cam page.
Ed is amazing in his grasp of actual situations and not blinded by the belief in what we want things to be ..

Bruh michoacan has been going through some of its worst years in history

Focus on Hollywood
Yea but then there'd be no jobs. We need crime so we can sell more guns and weapons and prisons.
Do they have human taco meat now? That's what we all want now
I felt safer in Michoacan than Chicago.
Bruh michoacan is pretty big.
The Hotland coastal regions is where the violence has been prevalent
