But what are they reporting it for? Their fellow Mexicans dont give a damn. Crime and beastlike cruelty is no scandal for them, its entertainment. Their ancestors are the Aztecs who tortured humans to death just sothat the sun goes up everyday.

No no, warriors are people following orders with intent to hurt or kill their opponents. Journalists are far more noble than any 'warrior' ever was.

@@skatterpro thats a soldier. You have no idea what a warrior means.

    • @skatterpro
      @skatterpro 2 ปีที่แล้ว +20

@@JOSWAY787 Are you implying warrior does not directly stem from the word "war"?
From Middle English werreour, from Anglo-Norman guerreier, Old French guerroiier (“fighter, combattant”), from Medieval Latin werra, from Frankish *werru (“confusion; quarrel”), from Proto-Indo-European *wers- (“to mix up, confuse, beat, thresh”)
      Warrior (plural warriors)
      (1) A person who is actively engaged in battle, conflict or warfare; a soldier or combatant.
Of course I'm aware of the figurative meaning, maybe use correct English if you're going to imply inferior understanding of the language in someone else.

I remember when I was a child growing up in the 90’s when my parents would take my sister and I to Mexico for vacation and we would visit family, go to the beach, theaters, go out at night to festivals, etc etc and just have fun without any worry of cartels shooting and killing people. Don’t get me wrong there were still cartels back then but they had at least some form of dignity as far as the cartels of this generation. By no means am I defending what they represent, but in terms of ruthless meaningless assassinations, they only did that to each other in the 90’s. These new cartel members have no souls, no respect for human life no type of code of honor. It’s so sad I may never be able to take my children to visit the places I used to visit as a child so they can see where our roots come from. Maybe one day Mexico will be at peace again, but not anytime soon I’m afraid😞

This is one of the same tactics that the PRI used when they ruled from the 20’s to all the way up to 2000. Instead of actually repressing the press or people who disagree of their government, they would just get people to mock them, humiliate them, disappear them, and it’s so subtle because it isn’t like Venezuela. But this new government is just like the PRI, only difference is that it isn’t a one party state, more like mesh that is so complicated. But Mexico does have some of its fundamental Democratic systems right now, and the independent press getting killed is just tarnishing this young democracy. Hope small independent journalists, independent judges, officers, community leaders, transparency organizations, and others can hold on against this tyranny.

Excuse me but this is misleading. Up until 11:30 it is just violence from the cartels against journalists and then suddenly, there is a cut to a press conference held by the president of Mexico, some criticism about him not being cordial with the press, the mention that journalist murders have gone up during his time and then some staff about being harassed online by trolls.
I mean cool... If those were separate we could discuss. But this is a deliberate effort to confuse viewers into thinkling that the President of Mexico is involved into the killing of journalists or in league with the Cartels. Of course, the "documentary" itself throws this out the window on the next scene where it mentions that the government actually protects some journalists...
I get it that the Vice journalist got mad because he was harassed by supporters of the president but honestly, this is not worse than Trump supporters reacting to reporters pressing their guy. Saying that the President doesn't like journalists and that his supporters talk crap to them is one thing, implying that he is involved into the killing of journalists is something entirely different.

God reigns over reality and no matter how fallen this world may be, in the end, the light of God and Christ is what will make things ultimately better and the Lord will be He who heals the brokenness of your heartbroken and saddened soul.

Why wouldn’t they? In 1980, Blancornelas and Félix and Francisco Ortiz Franco co-founded the weekly magazine Zeta. Through the magazine, the pair continued their investigation into organized crime and corruption.
Hector Félix Miranda contributed a column titled "A Little of Something", in which he satirized and criticized government officials, particularly those of the long-ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI). He particularly targeted Jorge Hank Rhon, son of a former Mexico City mayor and the owner of a Tijuana racetrack. Hector “El Gato Félix” Miranda was assassinated on April 20, 1988, when a car cut in front of him in traffic; another vehicle pulled alongside, and Félix was hit with multiple shotgun blasts. Jesús Blancornelas, Félix Miranda's writing partner, continued his aggressive writing style and published more articles on the Tijuana Cartel and on the drug trade than many other Mexican newspapers. In response to the death of his colleague, Blancornelas issued an ad pressuring the Baja California that read the following, "Jorge Hank Rhon: Why did your bodyguards assassinate me?" in reference to the death of Félix Miranda. In November 1996, Blancornelas was planning to visit New York City to receive an international award for his work in covering the drug trade, political corruption, and the relationship between the drug lords and the police. A few days before he was about to fly, a policeman in Tijuana visited Blancornelas and warned him that he was risking his life if he decided to go. A year later, the warning proved to be true: in 1997 in Tijuana, Blancornelas was ambushed and wounded by gunmen of the Tijuana Cartel while heading to the airport for publishing a photo of the drug lord Ramón Arellano Félix. Blancornelas was nearly killed when the attackers opened fire on his car, wounding him in the abdomen and killing his driver and bodyguard, Luis Valero Elizalde, who died protecting him and managed to kill one of the shooters. Blancornelas suffered complications from the injury for the rest of his life. In the attack, Blancornelas' car was hit more than 180 times, but only four bullets penetrated the journalist's body. Elizalde, however, was hit 38 times. That same year, three other prominent journalists were killed in Mexico.
A lot of people don’t know this, but Jesús Blancornelas assassination attempt was also in the last season of Narcos Mexico. Also I recommend a lot of you noobz listen to El Gato Felix corrido by Los Tigres Del Norte. The Zeta magazine was resulting in numerous threats and attacks against its staff, while Ortiz was assassinated in 2004, apparently for his coverage of the Tijuana Cartel.

Legalize drugs were? Most of the cartels market is in the US, legalizing drugs in Mexico would bring an infimum result. 😕

Excellent report, thanks for showing this horrible reality so that the Mexican government can be called upon to protect journalists. I am a Mexican living in Europe and I have not been able to return to my country because of how things are in the country, it pains me so much to see how things do not change with the current president who has turned out worse than all the previous ones, Mexico has become a lawless place.

VICE team, if you do a report similar to the interview with the CJNG commander, go to Tamaulipas in Reynosa, Matamoros or Nuevo Laredo There they could contact a member of the Gulf Cartel or the Northeast Cartel and the violence that literally takes place every day in that state.

If not responsible they provide the info and photos… most of the times our police is so corrupted that they work for the cartel. We don’t trust them at all. They are the worst of the worst.

They actually haven't, they control some areas, butn not the whole countrym the reason for that is that the goverment lets them, there's a really good podcast with an ex special forces in which he explains that of the Mexican goverment wanted to end the cartels they could, but is obvious they are getting paid to let them work, only when the cartels over step they boundaries the goverment does something, like when the CJNG recently took control of pretty much the state of Michoacan literally like in 1 month the army retake control of most of the state and righ now is returning to the old status quo of i loet you operate but don't get crazy, also when los Zetas became super big an dangerous the goverment dismatle them, so yeah the Army and teh goverment have the capacity of just end this crap but maqn the money is so good so they don't do it.

You guys are awesome and I truly thank all of you for doing sound, solid reporting. Mexico can be a deadly realization for reporters who report the facts. It appears to be getting worse and I don't believe it is going to get better anytime soon however, if it is going to be safe for reporters in the future, then many more reporters are going to be in the crosshairs and the results will be deaths. Even though it's getting worse, I'm hoping that it will improve in about 10-15 years. Until then, I have much respect for reporters who risk their life.
