The Reason Rainn Wilson Goes to Tijuana for Haitian Food

- What do Tijuana and Haitians have in common? Recently... a whole lot. Tijuana has become a home for a community of thousands of Haitian refugees. They took great risk and traveled long distances to live somewhere they felt would be a better life and provide better working conditions. However, many of them have gotten stuck on the south side of the US border due to recent border control laws. Living in limbo, many of these refugees are still in need of proper shelter, resources and opportunities.
Rainn Wilson and Haitian actor Jimmy Jean-Louis have teamed on a very important lunch break to give you a peek into what life as a Haitian refugee in Tijuana is like.

Im haitian, and I dont know many mexicans but God bless your souls n country I love yall so much for caring for my ppl ❤️
Not just Mexico, all Latin American countries got yah back in the time of need.
Thereal Polo I'm glad you do because Brazil was not to kind to your people They decided instead to stay in Mexico rather than go back to Brazil nor Haiti
Oscar Siguenza Not true They could had stay in any other Latinamerican country Not even go back to Brazil Do you know why they chose Mexico? Because it's economy is much better than the rest Mexico is the 6th most visited country by international tourists in the the world behind France, Spain, USA, China, & Italy Tijuana is the border city's most visited in the world. That means that in Mexico it's a much better place for a foreigner to make a living
Thereal Polo, I wish we could do more. Always looking for ways, that's what are people do. Like your people, together WE ARE SURVIVORS!
Marco Cruz shut up troll
Proud of my city Tijuana receiveing with a very warm hug everyone, us mexicans have a big big heart ♡
Let the haitians make tj great again, we dont need them in america.
🍒 taciturna 🍒 I just moved to So Cal and want to visit Tijuana.
We have big hearts cuz we know how feels how to be skrewed over cough cough white people lol sooner or later will outnumber y’all haha I’m on 10th child
Only one thing:No Central Americans-they are terrible people.
Good they can stay in Mexico so you'll know what is like in the U S.A when all your people come over here! It's you Mexican CITIZENS turn!
Its heartwarming to see how welcoming and generous Mexicans are and how persevering and hard working the Haitian community is...Very similar values, no question why they get along 🇲🇽🇭🇹
My best wishes to all of them you can tell they are good people.
I'm Haitians my people stay strong and courageous think you Mexico for welcome my people with open arms thank you again
I wish their Dominican brothers would treat them like how their adopted brother Tijuana Mexico is treating them. Vive Mexico !!!
This is one of the best things about Mexicans even though government won't help! the poor manage to help others with little that they have because they have a big hearts when it comes to this
Elver Morales

👌
Mi gente es su gente!
Eliver Morales spoke to a person from Mexico that's works in the the U.S.A. HE TOLD ME THINGS ARE NOW VERY DANGEROUS IN OUR SOUTHERN BORDER! BECAUSE OF OUR PRESIDENT STOPPING ALL THE RACES FROM COMING TO THE U.S.A. AND ICE DOING IT JOB. NO MORE ILLEGALS LESS DRUGS. FOR MANY YEARS THE CORRUPT MEXICAN GOVERNMENT KNEW THIS. AND ALL THEY HAD TO DO WAS CONCENTRATE ON OUR SOUTHERN BORDER. BUT THEY DIDN'T BECAUSE THE CORRUPT MEXICAN POLITICIANS LIVE LIKE KINGS. INSTEAD OF HELPING THEIR PEOPLE. WHY IS IT THAT THEY COME TO WORK IN THE U.S.A. NO FIELD WORK IN MEXICO NO JOBS. I WORK FOR OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT. ALL OUR custodians were from Mexico. OUR GOVERNMENT HOUSING more MEXICAN FAMILIES! THEY DON'T FOLLOW RULES OR OUR LAWS. GOT ASSAULTED BY THE MEXICAN CITIZENS FOR DOING MY JOB!!

Hell yea! I love the Haitian community. I live in Tijuana and they are really hard working nothing but blessings for my brothers and sisters
Apoyo total a nuestros hermanos haitianos
Teamototo TV They also helped liberate several latino countries. Whats your point?
Teamototo TV that's not the full story
Teamototo, we Latinos just want love and to spread it. So stop killing our buzz.
Gracias amigo. Yo soy Haitiano y yo qielo mucho la puebla Mexìcana. Thank you for allowing my ppl into your great country 🙏
Haitians are hard workers, after they got stuck in Tijuana, they didn't beg, they started to work and integrated to Tijuana society almost imediately. Less than 1 year they are all stablished, not perfect but there are alot of mexicans doing worst in tijuana. But Haitians are a reminder to all us, how if you work, you can be succesful anywhere.
Not all of them want to work. Some of them yes, but not all.
@@heythere3780 Umm, I can't imagine someone, regardless of race, being in such a situation and not wanting to work to get themselves out of it. However, not wanting to work happens with everyone, not only Haitians. Edgar was obviously speaking in general terms.
@@DarkEmpress1 Well not everyone thinks like you. Go yourself and try to give these guys some work, I guarantee you that some of them will turn you down if you don't pay them what USAmericans make. They never intended to be "stuck" in Mexico, they thought they could trick USA into giving them asylum. Mexico is a 3rd world country and gets paid 3rd world wages. Mexicans are offering jobs to the Haitians over their own citizens and get treated lile that. It's a shame. Once again, it's some and not all.
@@heythere3780 I know not everybody thinks the same and it's very obvious that you don't think like I do. I just found it funny that you came on a fairly positive video and comment section to say what you did. That's like people who talk bad about Mexicans and perpetuate the "lazy Mexican" stereotype.
They never intended to be in Tijuana, OK. How is that different from other people (including Latinx ones) who want to get into the U.S. and get "stuck" in another country? And how are some refusing to take a job if they're not paid what Americans pay...yet they are given jobs over Mexicans? 🤔🤔 That doesn't make sense and it's contradictory because let's be honest, we all know that immigrants are usually taken advantage of and paid WAY less. They're probably refusing because the pay is probably VERY low for the kind/amount of work they have to do, which I wouldn't blame anyone for, no matter the race.
Your comments are very reminiscent of what people in the U.S. who are against immigration say.
@@DarkEmpress1 yea, I just need to stop trying to talk to ignorant people. You're special
As an American with Haitian roots all I can say is Thank You Mexico. God Bless your Beautiful country 🙏🏾
Mexicans and there reservation brothers and sisters, are the real, and only!!, north Americans!!! Mexicans are predominantly native American!!! There's 27 continental American countries, the united states'🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 is just one of them!!!
White people come from Europe!!! They are not Americans,,!!! They come from Europe!!!!
The rest are immigrants,U.S. citizens 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸, the primary name of the united states'🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 is, the united states'!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
God bless you brother,!!!!
VIVA MEXICO!!!!🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
Haitian are a very brave people, and hard workers
Maha Janga haiti is a shithole

Sorry, Haitian leaders made Haiti a shithole, but Haitians are hard workers. Thats the difference between leaders and the people
Maha Janga LOOK AT HAITIANS WHY U THINK LATIN AMERICA IS DEPORTING THEM. THEY HAVE NOTHING TO OFFER
Maha Janga Haiti is a shithole
Maha Janga nah they would had fixs shithole Haiti
After watching this Mexico 🇲🇽 I’ll fight for you any day. The people in Tijuana thank you so much, I mean I’m deeply thankful for the love and welcome you give my people.
Thank you MEXICO for allowing my brothers and sisters through. God will reward you for it. From now on I'm a Mexico fan (world cup)
I have met haitians and Nigerians here in Tijuana. And let me tell you, they really are nice people and very hard workers. If I had a huge house I would leave doors open to them. God bless them
Watching this in 2021, so proud to be Mexican! It’s beautiful to see them welcome our Haitian brothers and sisters!❤️❤️❤️ god bless them all!🙏🏽
🇲🇽🇭🇹 my Mexico raza always helping people that are in need
I hope these Haitians are able to do what they wish soon enough. Get jobs, reunite with their families, or help their families back home. I know how hard the journey is and what it takes.
Teamototo TV Stop your bullshit you hater. This man created a desire of good fortune for those in need. If those you have claumed have wronged in some way, they will get what they deserve but the good people will not be subject to your dumbshit.
Teamototo TV u.s. was the influencer convinced the haitians that any spanish speaking should be wiped out.that's a fact because same happened with all spanish speaking filipinos in the filipines.
Wonderful story...Things will be better than today because of humanitarian people in Mexico...Thanks Mexico lindo for helping our Haitian brothers in Tijuana! ..Mil gracias Mexico por ayudar a nuestros hermanos Haitianos en Tijuana!!!...la vida es mas placentera y bella cuando compartimos nuestro tiempo con los demas!!.. Thank you to these 2 good Samaritans for sharing with us this sweet Story!CONGRATULATION!!!...
these people are heroes...respect and viva Mexico for embracing them
theabstrakt84 you’re wrong. Haitians face lots of discrimination in Mexico.
Teamototo TV Every group of people have done bad things, have Haitians genocided Mexicans in Tijuana? No. Now if Haitians purposely genocided true Americans (natives, not you white appropriaters) then you may have an argument. I suspect you are referring to DR politics. in that case, make it specific with historical context. I don't take sides, I am open to new and factually based information. I love both DR and Haitians, good people are good people and there are always some rotten filthy apples....please edify me.
Teamototo TV Shut up, fool. I have yet to meet a Haitian that hates Latinos. We treat them better than black Americans treat them and they tell me so too. im sure that Latino hating Haitians exists cuz you cant cure stupid but I suspect you are mainly talking about Hispaniola.
catothewiser The Mexicans and Haitians are used to your idiotic statements, they know u hate both so your "joke" should be sold to Mo'nique on her boycott to make zero dollars. Good deal.
theabstrakt84 This is the thing i hate about mexico they help everyone but themselves mexicans are living worse than these peaple .i dont see nothing wrong with helping these por peaple but mexicans help each other to.
I was in Tijuana and there was haitians selling caramel lollipops with the cow on it and it made me realise that we are all in this together and i gave him 5 bucks
It is because the Mexicans gave them jobs, they are learning how to integrate in a modern world.
Expected a food show, but this was 100 times better
FV Hellcat I agree
I live in Tijuana and I had no idea from all the things Haitians have to go through every day of their lives. I feel proud that my country has helped them at least in a little single way. All my good wishes to these people.
Thank you for all the people that accept us and treat my people respectfully.
Can you please put the information of the pastor , church and how we can help with the people , God bless you pastor sir. God will never forget your labor of love .
Is this LOVE that I'm feeling? Helping people out in when they are at their lowest is such a beautiful thing. The Haitians had it bad and nobody wanted to help. I don't believe in god but this man is a blessing to humanity and we should learn from him. He put in money from his own pocket, his family's pocket and donations to create that church and to help the immigrants. I was always a bad person. Greedy, selfish, liar, manipulator etc. Events like this break me down and I start to question this life.
This is a beautiful and heart breaking video. Thanks SP for giving a voice to those that are hurting and want a better life for their families. May God continue to supply their needs! ❤️
That's exciting that mexico and Haitians are getting along together
Are getting along? We are not getting along, we are welcoming people in need, to make them Mexican, to help our fellow human brothers.
They are not getting along with us, they are welcomed. This is our house, we don't need to get along with anybody, we welcome everybody.
Jealous people their going to have some cute mexican haitian babys their in mexico
Tu eres una buena persona!!
Teamototo TV so what? Do you live your life through grudge? vengance? Anger? learning to forgive is an essential part of the human evolution. There is a saying, not forgiving someone is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.
Esto se llama falta de cerebro.
Dwight from The Office speaking the language of my people,,,im both screeching and full of joy 😪
kat heck Haitian??? Or is it French???
Publius Maximus Manlius haitian creole :’)
may god richly bless Mexico. much love for my Mexican brothers and sisters.
THAT PASTOR IS A BLESSING MAY THE ALMIGHTY BLESS HIS SOUL AND FAMILY!!!!!THANK YOU SIR....
Big thank you to my Mexìcans for letting my ppl in 🙏🙏🙏
Haitian people are awesome. Welcome to my city!
Thank you Mexico for taking our people, may God bless Mexico and it people ❤🇭🇹🇲🇽
I am from TIJUANA, and i want to say that Tijuana is NOT A VIOLENT city. The acceptance, solidarity and opportunites in here are the abundance of my city tijuana, i dont know why the people say bad things about tijuana, tijuana is a city for all the people no matters your religion, lenguage, nationality, etc. here the people accept you just the way you are. We are always sharing our help to the situation that is happening with the haiti people that get stuck in here.
Christiansito XD soy de playas de Tj
Soy de el centro y la gente los acepta pero los trata como ciudadanos de seginda mano. Dicen que el racismo en estados unidos es malo pero en mexico tmb es igual.
Yes, yes let's just ignore the human body parts on the street from cartel carnage
Come on, man. While we can't say 100% of Tijuana is violent you also can't say it's not a violent place. Or are they taking a break from dumping human heads on public parks?
Love this! Our peoples will thrive together ❤🇲🇽🇬🇹🇭🇹❤
I live in TJ and so proud of the fact that we are becoming a diverse community. 😊👍
i mean really loove Rainn Wilson! all his work he does is amazing! i will probaly never get to see him to thank him in person but i hope he knows that we appreciate him and all his works!! love to all
Mis hermanos Mexicanos Bravisimo, Haitianos son super Educados, Profesionales, Hablan entre 3-4 Idiomas son un Grupo de personas Buenas, Himildes,Sufridas pero VAN AYUDAR A CRECER A MEXICO. GRACIAS MEXICO POR SU HUMANIDAD.
Oh yeah! Love this. Sak pase to my Haitians out there. OneLove!
Wilkine Brutus much love to haiti from a Mexican broth. Hope your dreams come true love you guys. Will be back to tijuana soon.
😍😍😍😍😘
I ABSOLUTELY ADORE HAITIANS AND THEIR CULTURE!!!!!!!
the whole violence problem in Tijuana is between the drug cartels, limited to a few spots where drug business is being conducted and is a bit over exaggerated in the media. As long as you stay away from the drug game you wont have any problems here.
Very much exaggerated I would say
El Gringo yes omg I wish many more people would know this
Of course there's also small crimes like robberies etc taking place but that's like any other city in the world. The death count is mainly people in organized crime and you're right if you stay away from that life you won't have problems.
I agree I live in Tijuana and as long as you stay away from the bad people you are okay
From east LA, lived in TJ. In Garfield HS saw way more crime and drug dealing. Shooting teachears etc. TJ saw the same. if you look for trouble, you'll find it...
"Best chicken I ever had" got me overwhelmed of emotions , I got to see first hand in my colonia (postal) bc the Casa de Immigrante is a block away from my house and to understand their situation but only imagine how it feels to go through it that I kept in silence to myself with no else to share and express nor advocate about was haunting. This chicken was so full of flavor that proves how bold they truley are to be still here living their lives praying and hoping just like everyone else. Thank for this video
God bless Mexico🇲🇽
I recently met Rainn at a convention and went to his panel he has a big heart and a great sense of humor i’m so glad he’s able to help a lot of people out
Wow I wasn’t expecting this to be so sad. God bless all the Haitians trying to find a better life outside of Haiti. Hopefully your journey leads you to happiness and peace🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹✊🏿🙌🏿
Bless my Mexican people and the Haitians ❤️
Idaly Aleman Igual preciosa!
Deport back not welcome
... And your point is. Many countries have committed genocide. You must be a hating Dominican. Get over yourself because Trujillo killed many Dominicans too.
My dad is from tj i and when I go I usually buy gallons of water for the guys who stay outside ... I hope Mexico continues take care of each other
Wow...I really respect Rainn Wilson...aka "Dwight" from "The Office". I remember watching an interview with him years back in Haiti. He is one of the very few American actors that have donated....but really worked in Haiti after the earthquake after all these years. Mad props to him!!
and the onion cutting ninjas strike again ... I can't even begin to imagine what it's like to travel through 10 different countries and make it to the final border just to have your dream for a better life be denied. The Haitians people deserve better, and anyone who is denying these refugees assistance clearly never sat across a table from one and talked to them. I can't imagine anyone with a heart would tell them "no". Even though it's still very difficult, it is comforting to know that the Mexican people have so much heart, and that they are truly trying to help with this situation, within it's limitations.
We are an enduring nation, full of enduring people, more enduring people, we'll make us an even greater and better enduring nation.
I'm very proud of Tijuanences People to recognize them as refugee, and support of sister and brother of Haiti!!! as well Mexhaitians new borns!!!
As a Haitian, I always have love for the Mexican. Hard working honest people. I have a lot of Mexican friends in Florida. I soccer coach was Mexican.
This was not what I expected when I read the title.
Was the video a good or bad surprise? We'd love to hear any thoughts you have :)
SoulPancake It was a good surprise, I just thought Rainn was going to eat some food and chat about some stuff. I didn't expect him to cross the border and talk about some issues shown in the video!
I pray for all of them. Hope everything will soon get better for them. ♡
Rain the world needs you. Thank you for all the righteous choices you make in how to share your time, talent and, money!
God Bless You Mexico!
Rainn Wilson, my respects to you and the brother you went with to Tijuana!
Unfortunately this is getting worse. I'm from Mexico City and now we are seeing immigrants from Southamerica and Haiti in places where you usually wouldn't see an immigrant. I just wish the best for them and they are welcome to be part of our country, to live here as long as they work and contribute to our society.
I live in Rosarito and see a lot of Haitians. I can't communicate with than too well as they speak French. They are beautiful hard working people I thank you for this so much.
God bless that pastor and everyone who had a hand in trying to alleviate the suffering of these migrants. Be blessed
Good stuff...this is quality story telling on TH-cam, thank you✌
Thank you, Thank you and Thank you!!!! Didn't know at all what was going on...
Now I’m crying like a baby 😭 it’s humbling when I see this while living a privileged life in a first world country. I can’t imagine how hard it is and I don’t think I would have survived all the traveling in those conditions while pregnant.
Thank you for producing this video and bringing this to my attention. These are human beings wanting to live a life just like the rest of us.
As a San Diegan and native Tijuanero, my favorite part of the whole video is Jimmy pronouncing Tijuana correctly!! Lol it's pronounced Tee-hwana... not Tee-a-wana!!
Que Dios los bendiga a todos aquí en mexico son bien recibidos y se Puede salir adelante poco a poco
A que bueno que estas de acuerdo con ella, porque a eso se refería ella, a que se queden en México. Si los queremos ;)
Polet Hernandez fernandez llebatelos a tu casa..b..

This is very good journalism. Hope more people watch this.
Han sufrido demasiado, por eso aquí se les recibe, y les abren las puerras en las empresas, conozco a muchos Haitianos ya en mi colonia, bien luchones, y alegres, se adaptaron bien.

Teamototo TV let me read about it , scusse my ignorance , but right now im reserching about the point , but just wanna say i can be anything you want but not a fking Jew please. Call me what you will , but not jew. The worst insult in the planet. Let me read about haiti genocide and i get back , but in advance , i never read about Haití until now so i thank you for that
I was raised with my Mexican folks in immokalee FL same struggle
I'm from Mexicali which is 120 miles east from tijuana. Back in maybe November 2016 thousands of Haitians came to the border. Now after 2 years they are working in many areas of Mexicali. They've found significant others here, have found a new life and are slowly becoming part of the community. It's nice to see diversity in Mexico.
Mexico bout to be lit in the olympics.
track and field baby, track and field, but in like 18 years probably, lol
As a Haitian, you made me laugh lol. Better yet, it would look funny once a little Haitian baby makes to national futbol team lol.

When people decide to put forth the effort to ask for donations to help poor immigrant families when not even the government will help them they become True Heroes. God bless the mexican people with the hearts of Gold that have helped the hattien people that migrated to Mexico.
I wasn't ready for this😭
DUDE I SWEAR I CAN UNDERSTAND THEM..& IM MEX/AMER.....SO HAITIANS LANGUAGE IS ALMOST LIKE SPANISH
Nationalcitysycho d FYI they speak Haitian Creole, derived from French.
Chivo Haitian creole has Spanish elements in it. I can understand some of it too. Are you forgetting Haiti and Dominican Republic share the same island?

Pues es Frances(Haitiano/Creole) al fin es lengua Latina, con un buen oido se puede entender mucho.
Thei'r lenguage its creole criollo its a mix of france an ntive lenguage haiti was a french colony
Mexicans are the most loving people god bless♥️
Thank you for your good work towards the Haitians.
This is very sad and it hurts to see people go thru this cause they were born in the wrong place, we should be able to work and help each other this world could be so beautiful if we helped each other.
When you know the language but you still read the subtitles 🤦🏾♀️.. Why do I do this to myself?
wish them the very best for the people of Haiti in Mexico God will provide!
Teamototo TV prove your facts?
I can see some half Mexican and Haitian babies in the future. Hard working mix right there sheesh
so true . I live in Tj
lots of Haitians
“Every prayer has an Amen” facts!
The forgotten Im from TJ and I see how much they work and try to be a good influence in the community hope they get the help they need
Tijuana is not Haiti, and Tijuana should not be known for Haitans is should be known for MEXICO!!!
That's amazing. I go to Tijuana quite often, but never knew how the Haitians ended up living there. For those of us who love to travel to Mexico, having Tijuana as your final destination isn't too bad at all. The beaches and drive south to Ensenada rival any of those more famous and publicized coastal roads of Europe or Australia. I will definitely find a Haitian restaurant next time I find myself south of the border!
That’s my beautiful brown skin people, Viva Mexico y Viva Haiti!!
Mexico owes nothing to haiti nor blacks.
Teamototo TV what are you talking about first off Latino is not a race Haitians are even considered to be Latino second what Latin genocide are you talking abiut
Oh Mexican Haitian mix ohhhh.... Yes that's a beautiful mix.
Mexicans are brown and white, depends.

Now we're HaiTijuana ❤ remember Tijuana the happiest place on earth.
Im a proud mexican living in Tijuana, unfortunatly i dont have any Haiti friends but almost all Mexicans here in TJ sees them as brothers, they are hard workers, if you have goodness in your heart, Tijuana will always give you a helping hand!
I am from Tijuana, I wish we had more people from Haiti, they have completly integrated and become part of the city.
Wow is very beautiful:')
I'm crying:')
There are lots of Haitians in my city, and in general they are good people. Hard-workers and very happy for any opportunity they have. If they don't get accepted into the USA I hope they can integrate into Mexican society and that Mexicans accept them. I have been to Mexico a few times and it is a lovely country with limitless potential, I am sure they will have tons of opportunity there to better themselves and the lives of their family
