You are welcome, glad to try and help out a fellow air gun sportsman. Another good tip that I learned from an avid air gun shooter, was to clean the barrel every 250 shots or so, using a quality bore cleaner and tight fitting patch. Be careful not to scratch the inside of the barrel though, since it is made of brass. Anyway, keeping the rifle grooves in the barrel clean will drastically improve accuracy, as the rifling grooves get choked with oil, debris, and lead fouling from shooting it.
Not if you are careful not to scratch the crown of the barrel with the cleaning rod. In fact, entering the barrel from the muzzle is the only way you can clean a 392, as the barrel does not detach, which would allow for a breach entry of the cleaning rod. So your only choice is to put the cleaning rod in the muzzle. Just be careful and you'll do fine with it. Do not use a copper brush though! Just cotton patches. Hope this helps.
I like benjamin since I in high school hood hunting with my cousin.when i was child(elementary school) i used to follow my uncle and my father get hunting with Benjamin air riffle to the our coconut trees field to hunt the squirrels, since that day i like hunting.I am Wayan from Bali.
I have the older version "Sheridan" .20 cal. before the Benjamin name was added on later. I bought it back in the early 70s. It is very accurate and deadly for small pests. I got mine out of the safe yesterday for the first time in years and yes........still shoots flawlessly and still very accurate! Highly recommended.
Ha, nice to read your posting service1956; My 1978 Blue Streak, forty years old this year, has been just kept in my sleeping bag bag I got in the sixties. ..say 12 or so years back I loaned it to a neighbour and with five pumps each took out two groundhogs that were snarfing his ripe tomatoes. He made it sound as quick kill and offered to buy it. Nope!; I can Dead Eye Dick adjust shooting a can. I also have a 1992ish version(already a 392 then?) which pops off water filled beer can hits at sixty yards after a few (ahem) yup, it gets harder beer or not open sights/tri focal glasses, yoiks! Li'l dab of day glo paint on front sight holds merit. ~ Who knew one could live off land in small game way with the Li'l pumper that could, with skinny blade sight. I never bothered with a scope because most part I hit what aimed at..and scope would make pumping noisier due to grip methinks. Blah blah, tips me hat ~
Not in the Benjamin, or the older Sheridan rifles, it is actually recommended by the manufacturer to put one pump in the gun for storage. I never did that though, and my old Sheridan silver streak is over 30 years old, and still works good as new.
Excellent video ! I have the same rifle with a Williams Receiver sight installed, I shoot it mostly as a 'ghost peep' while keeping both eyes open. Not bad on running rabbits! A great American made product with a REAL American walnut wood stock...a real-fun classic.
@pyramydair cool, thanks for getting back to me so fast. I was just worried about getting lead poisoning once I kill a animal. So I was making sure it could handle non-lead pellets.
u can reduce the sound of the pumping with som furniture stickers.. u know the kind tath prevent the chairs from skratching up the flor. i used it on mine.
I love my 1077 got her pumped up, and pimped out dude ~ She 1 of a kind Throwing out 823 fps and can shoot any kind of air, from HPA, to every kind of tanks and co2 cartridges. I'am digging the 90g co2 cartridges. I use it as a forehand stock > get 300 + shots. I tricked her out in Killer Whales Camo > Sea side blue back ground, with black and white killer whales
I love my multi pumps air rifle. I have a pcp feinwerkebau p700 for my sport shooting and a sharp river multipumps. It is a local workshop made rifle but they works great and very accurate :)
I just went through 3 hatsan springers that were all bad. First one the barrel was bent, second one had a faulty safety (broke my window) and there denying it now, and the third one had 3 problems. I have a 392 and it is much much more accurate then the hatsan break barrels and much cheaper
Kekuatan 5 kali pompa hanya 1 kali saja, dan 10 kali pompa hanya 2 kali pompa saja,,,asal kuat aja tangan memompa hasil nya luar biasa, sungguh salah satu mekanik terbaik dari Medan_Indonesia
was thinking bout getting this gun,but too much pumping, and too much noise when pumping and shooting. thanks for the review its helped me decide what to get
One thing that always bothers me is that they never show the Chrony, only a strip of paper with numbers on it. I don't know anyone that has a 392 that shot numbers like that out of the box unless they were shooting light pellets. I did a lot of mods to my 392 since I got it and now it does 695 to 702 fps with Benji 14.3 gr. pellets and 8 pumps. It took a lot of adjustments on the valve spring to have it still be able to pull the bolt as the hammer spring was pushing the valve in and moving the alignment of the hammer. I made my own flat top piston and cut the top of the valve off. Just as you get near flush with the top of the valve, the hole opens up to where the check valve fits in but still has enough thickness at the ID of the hole and now the valve is flush with the top. I ported the exhaust port and milled it for a small o-ring, added another o-ring on the threads where the valve screws together and cut the check valve down to 5/16". I also drilled out the transfer port hole to 3/16". Shoots great now and it/s a lot more accurate. One final note, you can't get the valve out the bottom of the tube anymore. The only way is out the top and getting the roll pins out is a major pain in the ass. I made a small press to get them out. Be extra careful with the bolt that holds the valve. If you don't know what you're doing, DO NOT TRY TO DO ANY VALVE MODS! Don't blame me if you screw it up, this is just for information purposes only.
Stepping up from a Daisy 880 just for pest control. This looks light and short and in the right caliber for what I need. However, I have short arms and pumping up this gun looks fairly hard. Yes?
@pyramydair It may seem absurd to mention alongside the 392, but what about the Daisy Grizzly? It's much less powerful, and has a smooth bore, but it's a single stroke, bolt action pneumatic that shoots both BBs and pellets.
it does take about 250 shots, or more, to get the gun broken-in. After that, it will pump a little easier (but still quite difficult), and the trigger pull will get smoother (but still not great). I would NOT oil the gun very much. True, it needs a little oil, but no more than a tiny drop of 30 weight motor at the pump mechanism. That should be good for a long time. Just keep an eye on the pump cup, and if it starts to get dry looking, then oil it a bit. But not much! Too much oil is bad.
Question: Does the advice about leaving one pump in the gun also apply to cheap multi-pumps like the Crosman 760 or does it not make any difference with those?
I have had 3 of these guns...one is the old model that i found in the dumpster about 12 years ago and it is the only one that lasted...The other two i purchased lasted about a month the..the valve assembly leaks whenever i pump the gun up..I have never put any oil or anything into the valve and i have always kept one pump in the chamber when not in use and i never used the gun for anything extreme just plinking off the back porch, Does anyone know what the cause of this problem could be?
Being pumped up! Yes she loud! Loud as a .22 rim fire. but the 10/22 tanker muzzle break give it lots more power! So i can live with that. If I put a silencer on it, it wouldn't have that extra power. She sited in at 25 to 50 yrd. hitting the bullseye consistently> Watch out squirrels and rabbits ! Here i come
392S is basically same rifle..only the stock and pump forearm are now made of Synthetic material (per the S). No other changes in build quality. The wood stock will soon me a 'collector' as it is now out of production.
On a Benjamin 392 you will be fine. If you ever want to mount a scope on a spring piston air rifle, make sure it says that it is rated for airguns. Springers recoil in two different directions, so they are really hard on scopes.
Nice video. I have a old school 397 and while pumping it does not hold pressure just releases it during each pump. How much for a seal kit, or repair by u all.
Can you tell me what distance are you doing this test at? I have this same gun and I missed a bird at about 30 yards with the Benjamin hollow points but then I tried again and got a dove but one of my neighbor hood stray cat stole it. Do you recommended the Benjamin or should I stick with the crosman primers? Thanks you very much.
Hey pyramid air, i have been a proud owner of a benjamin 392 for over 3 years now and i love it. I have taken countless rats, squirrels, doves, grackles, rabbits and other small game around the yard with it and with ease. It seems to have no issue with game of this type, but with the power of the rifle, do you think i could go larger with it? could i realistically and cleanly take down say a raccoon or woodchuck at a realistic distance with the 392? Thanks.
Daisy Powerline 753 (Avanti Elite 753) is a single stroke pneumatic bolt action air rifle. It is a very accurate .177 cal. Target Air Rifle with a velocity of around 510 f.p.s. so it's not really a good hunting air rifle.
It's not a 10 pump max it's 8. I wonder how many people put much more ware and tare on there gun cause of this mistake. Do not over pump the beji, it will eventually damage it.
@ Facepwner73 This will definitely kill birds and squirrels if that's what you're looking at doing. As long as you pump it enough, and in my experience the pumping isn't too bad, you'll get used to it. Hope that helps! Good luck hunting!
pro review dude.. thanks a lot.. btw 8 times pumping hahaha.. thats gone make me faint :) before hunting.. i guess, springer and PCP is the way out dude..

@Facepwner73 I have killed ground hogs, raccoons, crows, blackbirds, & rabbits with my 392.The larger animals require head shots but the pellets penetrate through the whole skull.Smaller animals and birds can be taken humanely with body shots. This is a great little carbine....I also shoot an M1 rifle but that is a different story.

102 decibels is that quite loud? what would that compare to?Great vid.
@worthmor Thanks for the part number...Hopefully i get it soon because i love my benji

what multi. pump is better the binjamin 392 or the 397 for target shooting and occasional hunting
I Need Benjamin 392 Bolt Action Air Rifle But .25 Caliber....... Is It Possible ?
@pyramydair thanks for the reply, if only there was one
Hi. I have the new Webley Rebel multi pump 177 should i leave 1 pump in it while not in use Thanks. Jim
Whats the price on the 392 n scope nice setup
Thanks for the information, a good video.. where can I get a scope and mount ser up like you have...? Thanks Rob
are there any single stroke bolt actions?
What about the 392s? Is there any chance you gonna do a new review?!
392S is basically same rifle..only the stock and pump forearm are now made of Synthetic material (per the S). No other changes in build quality. The wood stock will soon me a 'collector' as it is now out of production.
I got a North Star pistol scope seems to be doing great at 10 yards. Do you for see any problem putting a powder rifle scope on a air gun????
On a Benjamin 392 you will be fine. If you ever want to mount a scope on a spring piston air rifle, make sure it says that it is rated for airguns. Springers recoil in two different directions, so they are really hard on scopes.
Thanks is only on Benjamin 397 and the 392. Thank for the heads up.
Is this gun rifled and would non-lead pellets damage the riflings if it is?
where can I found a scope for this rife ?
Hi Paul I was wondering what you think of the Beeman RS2 dual caliber combo?
Can you buy the inter-mount for the scope anywhere???
My dad's very first air rifle when he was a kid.
Nice video. I have a old school 397 and while pumping it does not hold pressure just releases it during each pump. How much for a seal kit, or repair by u all.

@brianl420 you're not the only one.
Can the scope be mounted on the back of the gun?
How are the iron sights on it? Any thoughts/opinions on a Williams 64 Peep sight on the 392?
What is the difference in the 392 and the 397.
are the intermounts the same for the 392 and the 397?
Hey pyramid air, i have been a proud owner of a benjamin 392 for over 3 years now and i love it. how many yards away is the target in the video
Daisy Powerline 753 (Avanti Elite 753) is a single stroke pneumatic bolt action air rifle. It is a very accurate .177 cal. Target Air Rifle with a velocity of around 510 f.p.s. so it's not really a good hunting air rifle.
Is this airgun available in the Philippines?
Sense it's a .22, and a powerful air rifle.
how long can i keep air in the seal (10 pumps) when hunting?
Amen bro.
hi
can u shipped a benjamin 397 in the Philippines?
It's not a 10 pump max it's 8. I wonder how many people put much more ware and tare on there gun cause of this mistake. Do not over pump the beji, it will eventually damage it.
Ware and tare, that's funny.
IfItDontAplyLetItFly The old ones were 8 the new ones are 10 pumps.
Why worry about ware and tare when you only shoot a hare?
What is the maximum distance that I could take squirrels/chipmunks and starlings with this?
@ Facepwner73 This will definitely kill birds and squirrels if that's what you're looking at doing. As long as you pump it enough, and in my experience the pumping isn't too bad, you'll get used to it. Hope that helps! Good luck hunting!
pro review dude.. thanks a lot..
btw 8 times pumping hahaha.. thats gone make me faint :) before hunting..
i guess, springer and PCP is the way out dude..
What kind of scope is that?
How far away?
Hello, i would like to buy a rifle for my 13 year old son. considering that the length is perfect for him (he's about 55 inches high) and the wight would be o.k., i had one question: is the pumping really hard or will he be able to pump it?
I had one at age 15 and I had trouble with pump No. 7 and 8, but 5 or 6 pumps was all the power I needed for targets and birds.
What is the max number of pumps that you can do?
normally 8
how many shots with 8 pumps?
one
Look at the Camera!
i love my 392
Good gun.
@pyramydair Thanks.
Why would you buy a multi pump over an break barrel?
accuracy...
WHERE I CAN BUY A BENJAMIN 392 IN SURINAME
They used to be walnut. Now its some hardwood. Everything goes downhill..
Great gun for wimps who want to pack on some muscle. It will give you a good workout. If they could design this to be a one pump like the springer.
its a pretty good looking rifle...but i have see some videos and look relly hard to pump its relly that hard?
EVERYBODY LOOK AT HOW HE PUMPS IT, THAT IS HOW U DO IT, DON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT HOW HARD IT IS TO PUMP ANYMORE.
Why clean an air rifle? Ive been shooting my crosman for 40 years and never cleaned it. It doesn't lead up. there is no powder residue.
I have this pellet rifle and let me tell you... My right arm is bigger than my left. Laugh Out Loud.
crosman recommends pumping it 3 to 8 times.. he says ten(not right)
manual says no more than 8 pumps
It's beautiful :/
Honestly, the only two types of air gun that anyone shud buy are the 392-397 and PCP's, break barrels suck.
dat vid quality tho.
My friend shot a raccoon with a Benjamin 392, and the animal just drop down.
my grandfather had silverstreak killed ferral dogs.
Have my fathers in the basement.
..if one shot was only 7 pumps why even count it ,,if you cant do the job right don't quote your incorrect statistics ,,BOGUS
I guess if you like iffy stats, the time to watch was well spent....
Unckle Bob post your video showing us perfection
No stated distance, bogus data. You guys at Pyramid Air need to find someone who can do the job correctly. Video done in 2010 and you still haven't corrected this? Just put the corrections in the comments, or better yet, re-shoot the whole thing. You may have just lost a customer. I need to replace the 392 it took me 40 years to wear out. Now I'm not too sure.
I just got one from Pyramid Air today.
I shot several Benjamin 14.3 gr. pellets over my chrony and was getting a very consistant 615-620 fps with 8 pumps.
I imagine the rifle still hasn't been broken in and that it will hopefully start showing higher velocities.
The trigger isn't that bad and it is predictable and smooth.
The rear sight is something that only a complete moron would put on a rifle like this.
What a piece of crap! Totally unusable so consider geting a better rear peep sight or mounting some kind of scope on it.
Don't clamp anything to the barrel as it will fail and you'll keep tightening it unil you ruin something.
Find someone to dove tail the breech for a proper scope mount.
Thanks for the video.
