NP stands for "Nitro Piston". It's powered by a gas filled piston instead of a spring. I've got a springer, Hatsan mod 95 in .22 and it's great! I hear that the gas filled pistons are longer lasting than springers and have less recoil. The Hatsan has a beautiful hardwood Walnut stock, but I think the all weather stock would help to keep the weight down.
It does keep the weight down. If I had to guess,we'll see more and more items with wood stock options as popularity of air guns seems to be moving in leaps and bounds

Hey Charles, I just saw a video about a fellow cleaning his break barrel air rifle, and somehow it went off and took the top portion of his thumb when he had it between the barrel and receiver.. You are so right about hanging onto the barrel of an air gun when loading or cleaning it!. Keep up the great videos.!
I've had mine for about a year and I've brought home dozens of rabbits. One shot kills almost instantly so it's not suffering. Great rifle for small game for proper hunting etiquette. A lot of people hunt with. 177 but I sometimes the rabbit will still run for a bit and I don't like seeing an animal suffer when you could have done hunting right. I highly recommend the prowler series for anyone wanting to go for small game (rabbit, dove, squirrel, etc). I did kill a fox that went into my chicken pen with a chest shot at 20 yards. Dropped like a fly. I keep my air rifle in the barn and I left my 30-30 inside the house. But it did the job.
No front or rear sights, that's the only complaint ive had so far. I've taken terrible care of, and abused the crap out of it. Left it out in the woods all week, dieseled it, got stuff lodged in the barrel. Even so it still shoots well and has most or all of the original power it started with. This one is built very solid. I would definitely buy one again.
I just got one and it is perfect for the money and I'm shocked about it's power and performance Benjamin Prowler everyone should have one lol it's well worth the it
Sylvia Aguilar No! Please, for the love of god, never shoot a deer with an air rifle like this. Squirrels and rabbits? Sure! But not a deer. They make air rifles that you can hunt medium game with, but they’ll run you about $800 and are normally ‘chambered’ in .357 or .45. The Benjamin Bulldog is probably the most popular one

Im dropping pest's at 30/40 yards one after another. This riffle is a beast! I'd recommend it to anybody looking for a powerful durable and reliable break barrel. Plus its cheap. I've got it paired with a barska adjustable objective and these scopes a reliable and durable. I've had this combo for over 2 years and it impresses me more and more everyday. It doesn't have the best trigger but it is adjustable and you can do somethings to it to where it's match grade.
I had the varmint np years ago and I think it was the strongest and most accurate out of my genesis, gamos and other Springer's. You're right that it is the same. As much as I talked about them my wife is leaning on getting the prowler for my christmas gift. It will have the full fluted barrel though.
I own a benjamin prowler. I hated it at first, until I did some mods and found the right pellet. Number one I bought a truglo 4x32(which has held up to 1500 shots so far and holds zero), I did a trigger mod(I replaced the spring in the trigger to a lighter gauge spring) which helped a lot, And the biggest help was finding the right pellet. I went through 8-10 types of pellets ruger's,crosmans,Benjamin's,gamos, pointed, hollow point, rounded, plastic tips. Then I bought h@n field target trophy, AND WOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE. My groups went from 1.75" to .5" at 25yds! I took them for a spin at 40 yds shot three times and ended up with one hole .3" group. I shot the crosman hollow points and had an 8" group at 50yds, the h@n's had a .75" group. long story short Don't give up on trying to find a better pellet, find a fixed scope that holds zero, and DO THE TRIGGER MOD!!! There are tons of how to videos for the trigger mod.
I have many air rifles, my favorites are Crosman/Benjamin and Gamo. The Nitro Piston is by far the best technological advance Crosman has made. The NP2 has problems that they have yet to resolve so for the next few years I'd stick with the NP. Coyote at 110 yds with .22 Benjamin Prowler and 14.3 grain hollow point means they're serious air power.
@SHUR SHOT shot it in the eye. Got rid of the CP scope. Use a Pinty lighted reticle, adapted to 3/8" slot. Power mods (3) increase speeds on 14.3 grain Crosman pellets gives 1,050 fps. Still under speed of sound. (No spin or drift) 110 yards 14" drop, one chance at it, dead hit. So... Yeah. But... Won't do any more game shots past 75 yards anymore after seeing a low shot on a 🐇 rabbit that i aimed at it's head at 80 yards and hit it in low chest. Misjudged the distance. Thought it was about 60 yards. No more shots past 50 to 70 yards from now on.
I just purchased a Benjamin Prowler 22 caliber for $64 and I bought some h&n Hornets all together it came out to $93 free shipping it was refurbished I never thought a refurbished rifle would be brand new the only thing that didn't come with it was the original box but they packaged it and double boxes delivered without a scratch or a defect brand new I will continue to purchase refurbished rifles and I am so happy with this rifle it has much more power than my Hatsan Edge smolder cocking the only down fall is the scope which I will be replacing tomorrow other than that man this rifle is underrated and under price I might grab me a couple more just before they notice and bring them up to like $200 cuz I think they are worth 200
I paid $98 at WalMart three days ago. What pellets are you using? The Ruger branded Umarex are the best so far of the two brands tested. Crosman 14.3 gr HPs are not good so far. Ruger 3/4 at 10 yards the Crosman scattered. The trigger sucks, any advice?
After reading all the reviews on break barrels in this price range I purchased one at the local walmart today for $98. It's solid, made well, but forget about it being stealth.. this thing is way louder then a .22 rifle firing CBs or even .22 shorts and a lot heavier. While my wife can shoot our .22 Savage bolt action all day, there is no way she can cock the Benjimin
Sorry to hear, RIP Charles. Purchased this rifle at Sportsmans Warehouse for $159 5-25-22. A couple of years ago these guns were around $100 so they have gone up a lot! I had researched lots of articles, reviews and U tube videos and had high expectations for build, accuracy and scope. First disappointment was this gun did not come with the Center Point 3x9 scope that it used to come with a few years ago. The 4X32 scope that came with the gun was pure junk, extremely blurry at 5-10 yards and there is no way to focus it. Took scope back to store opened up another boxed rifle off of the shelf and its scope was the same! The store manager offered to sell me a different scope for $50, I passed. There are no open sights on the rifle, so you have to have a scope. I put on a spare 3x9 Simmons and put over 150 rounds through it sighting it in, the accuracy has not been consistent or impressive so far. I don't know if it will improve with more rounds through it, I will try different pellets and the trigger mod. This gun is heavy for a pellet gun, the trigger is terrible. I wonder about the repeated action of cocking the gun barrel affecting the accuracy like others. Just makes sense that a small change in barrel position will cause a big change at 30 yards. I realize this is a $160 pellet gun, but to include a scope that is unusable is not acceptable, Crosman should have a useable scope or put open sights on the gun: )
I just picked up one of these the other day haha and today made a spinnin spoon target to get after tomorrow! hope these spoons are sturdy hahaha! great video Charles! keep them up
Picked one of these up a month ago. Took about an hour to mount scope and adjust for eye relief then dial in. I have a variable 3-9x I was going to use but the fixed 4x it comes with is more than sufficient. I can cover a 5 shot group with a quarter at 25 yds using crossman hp's. Had to adjust the trigger a great deal as it's very heavy out of box but once you get the 1st stage right it breaks clean. Also needed to tighten the bedding screw forward the trigger as it wasn't very tight as well as the two on the foreend. Loose bedding will rob accuracy. It's also very quiet and doesn't require much effort to cock unless you're weak I guess. It's an all around great rifle with power for $100
Out of All the demo's on the Benjamin Prowler I'd honestly have to say your video's Trump All of them !!! Thanks for taking your time to make this video , it is most helpful !!!!!!!
I Like your videos. But, I would like to see you standardize your reviews by taking the time to shoot some traditional bulls eye targets so we can see the accuracy the rifle has. You are obviously a very good shot. 10 yards minimum distance, and shot off a rest.
Charles, the newer version of the prowler has the fluted silencer all along the barrel and that model looks a little funny compared to todays version. Same thing as the crosman F4 in .177 version. Either one can be switched to the other stock or so it seems....probably gonna have to try and see!! Hope you are doing Better!!
Very powerful & very accurate, I hit the target little bigger than a dollar coin at about 8 yards distant in first time use. Not heavy to handle, heavy to cock which is powerful force to shoot. Nitro gas pistol will last twice the spring according to the internet info, it is also noticeably quite. I am please with this air rifle.
I have the same air rifle. I don’t know much about rifles or guns. But eventually I’d like to go Squirrel hunting and I was wondering if that particular air rifle would be a good beginner gun to start off with?
Thanks for the video. I do not know Jack about air rifles. So they make them in a 22 cal. So you pull the barrel down an load the pellet. While doing this it compresses the air, right ? I guress this is what I need to get rid of the squirrels. They are taking over my garden.
Cooking skills ? They must be really good. I have been married twice. Starting out both were on the thin side. By the time they left they were on the Hefty side well over the 250 lbs. I learned about the food laws and I do try an obey them. Rabbits an squirrels are rodents, considered to be unclean animals, scavengers. But, people will eat anything whey get hungry enough. You heard about McDonalds, they found, human DNA in there hamburger an sausage.
Cool no noisy neighbors i hope if i had a brother i would hope he would turn out like i am a avid airgun collector and shooter i am 50 my wife says i am still a kid i tell thats right lifes good
WM had these on the shelf for $98+. I ordered one online for $67.00 and went to the local store the next day and picked it up. Some reviewers say that some cheap air rifles are "shooters" and some are not. I suspect mine is not. However, it is and l am getting better. The only surprise has to do with the scope. It took WAY too long to zero it. I'll never get it perfect without a clamping system. It was way off at first (very high-left) but it consistently moved in the intended direction. Right now l just make sure to shoot a half inch low and and 3/8" to the left at about 75'. That'll do until l devise a clamp. Also the scope is consistent if l shoot as stated. I don't understand this but l can live with it. This thing does pack a wallop. Good rifle for the money.
I have the same rifle and I mounted a red dot on it ,it was much easier to zero it plus the recoil of the rifle doesn’t affect at all the red dot, the scope was a pain in the arse
just got my Prowler 22 sighted in today......30 yrds, decent...needs fine tuning tho...good investment so far..pellets are Daisy point pellets, cheap but shoots straight
okay so here it is I bought the Benjamin Prowler air rifle 22 cal I've had no issues whatsoever it shoots a consistent 800 feet per second with a spread of two the gun cost me 99 dollars for $99 you get a 22 caliber air rifle and a cheap scope scope rings so this hands down is the best 22 caliber air rifle I've purchased under $200 if you're new at shooting air rifles this air rifle is hands-down the best if you can find me a gun that is $99 that is nicer than the prowler please let me know what gun is and I will purchase it
Good price. At Walmart and Academy they are 99 bucks. Was thinking about getting the Titan NP that's on sale at Academy for 129.00. Regular price is 160.00 there but I like this Prowler too. Having a huge rat problem here in North Texas and need a hard hitter.
About 6 months ago I got one of these. Looks just like yours except the barrel is different. It is thicker from the stock to the end of the barrel. It says it is a Benjamin prowler .22. Just wondering if there is any difference.
I find it easier to hold the barrel, set the stock on me or something, and push the action/barrel hinge area away, then finish cocking without turning the rifle. The rifle first has to be set vertical and turned using either method. Try it about 20 times and maybe you'll find it more intuitive. My Benjamin Prowler does everything right, is surprisingly accurate.
I just bought one tonight and I could not get the scope rings to line up properly no matter what I did. I even tried come of my other scope rings and scope (Vortex) that I had on a 22LR rifle and they were crooked. My guess is the receiver was not cut properly. Going to exchange it and see what the next one looks like. Do you recommend anything else for the same price point?
I ended up getting the ruger air hawk elite 2... im quite pleased with it however im going to have to jave to change out the scope... my wife ended up going back to walmart and got the ruger impact .22 cal. So now my question is which one is better for small game hunting? I know the air hawk elite .177 is said to be at 1000fps with lead and the impact .22 is 800 fps (and a bit lighter)
22 under 50 yards more mass. 177 with the pellets that have the plastic skirt 80 yard and closer. but just because that combo works for me dosent mean its the only way
Yep my first pellet rifle cost me $79 to the house coming today I'll be looking for the mailman I ordered the 22 caliber more versatility then 177 that way I can shoot it in the backyard and shoot doves Oh by 40 foot ham radio tower and have dinner during season why not got to stay home now y'all have a good shooting day Bang Bang
Do you prefer NP or NP2? I have a Crosman Fire in .177 and a Benjamin Phoenix in .22 and I'm getting similar accuracy. I do like the trigger better on the Benjamin and cocking effort is lower. The price is $70 on the Fire and $140 on the Phoenix. I'm just using it for plinking. Which one would you keep?
Seen then refurbished with by Crossman for $90 . I may bite, since i dont have one o de'm newfangled gas piston powerplants. Seems just as loud as the springers, thou. Again, another good nonsence video. Thanks. 👍

I Like your videos. But, I would like to see you standardize your reviews by taking the time to shoot some traditional bulls eye targets so we can see the accuracy the rifle has. You are obviously a very good shot. 10 yards minimum distance, and shot off a rest.
will do. matter of fact, plan on starting ammo test weight vs accuracy. got to go paper

He’s gone 😞
@@jeremyblackwater439 yeah I think it's a message I did before I knew..he was a great guy and he is missed by his airgun fans...
Great review Charles!Hope you're doing ok!
I been a air gun lover back in my childhood all the way to now aday
I'm GOING ON 74 YEARS OLD AND I LOVE TO PLAY WITH AIR RIFLES.
me too red ryder bb, and all the real pistols and rifles , 68 now and 3 pellet rifles , 2 pistols lots of fun
I have this gun and
Cut 6" of the barrel
And had a broken crossman Springer with a wood stock and the prowler fits perfectly in it well balanced now
I got my prowler yesterday and it was very quiet and the scope came sighted in and the gun was brand new
Nice to meet another East Texan! Just picked up the newer Prowler.
Backyard Plinking have you review the .22 crossman phantom?
What is the big black blanket on your fence? Does that stop the pellets from going through? If so, where did you buy it?
Guess i spoke to soon. Didnt know benjamin was same as crosman. Great videos thanks
it's ok . fire and f4 are in the same family as the varmit and the edge. side by side vids will be here soon
Yeah i like the gamo varment but didnt know how well it was compared to the crosman f4. Thanks
You'll be able to see very soon
I've always known the NP to stand for "nitro piston". That's the engine for these break barrels that is gas piston,,,, not a spring. CHEERS.
Nice chalk targets Charles...👍
RIP Brother plinker…Hope your loved ones are well, God bless.
The prowler is marketed for department stores. Which is why it is cheaper than the Varmit. But same gun.
Sir would you prefer the benjamin.22 over the ruger impact.22 or are they about the same in foot lbs with the 14.7gr pellets
ruger for some reason it just feels better and shoots better at least for me
I have a ruger and a prowler and prefer the ruger. It shoots straighter
Grr I'll get this one, never spent so much time looking into these, maybe I'll even have fun with it
This rifle reminds me of the crossman F4 which is a great rifle
you think this will work well for iguanas in south florida? They get pretty big down here.
$76. Refurbished delivered is a good deal I guess?
I have the same air rifle. I don’t know much about rifles or guns. But eventually I’d like to go Squirrel hunting and I was wondering if that particular air rifle would be a good beginner gun to start off with?
hatsan 25 caliber
Thanks for the video. I do not know Jack about air rifles. So they make them in a 22 cal. So you pull the barrel down an load the pellet. While doing this it compresses the air, right ? I guress this is what I need to get rid of the squirrels. They are taking over my garden.
yep hows your cooking skills?
Cooking skills ? They must be really good. I have been married twice. Starting out both were on the thin side. By the time they left they were on the Hefty side well over the 250 lbs. I learned about the food laws and I do try an obey them. Rabbits an squirrels are rodents, considered to be unclean animals, scavengers. But, people will eat anything whey get hungry enough. You heard about McDonalds, they found, human DNA in there hamburger an sausage.
The NP stand's for nitro piston
Not cheap, inexpensive, but the Prowler is nasty and noisy, but I love mine, in only 1 day of shooting.
Thank you for holding the barrel while loading a pellet!!!!!!!!!!! So many people don't do that!
I have the same rifle and I mounted a red dot on it ,it was much easier to zero it plus the recoil of the rifle doesn’t affect at all the red dot, the scope was a pain in the arse
It's October 2022 where are you ???
I like watching your shows on the pellet gun and your a funny guy allso keep up the good work showing love from WOODBRIDGE VIRGINIA
thanks
just got my Prowler 22 sighted in today......30 yrds, decent...needs fine tuning tho...good investment so far..pellets are Daisy point pellets, cheap but shoots straight
like the 14.3 g destroyers in 22 not too heavy and not too light
My initial thought on a break barrel air rifle is that eventually, won't the break point get sloppy, causing accuracy problems?
okay so here it is I bought the Benjamin Prowler air rifle 22 cal I've had no issues whatsoever it shoots a consistent 800 feet per second with a spread of two the gun cost me 99 dollars for $99 you get a 22 caliber air rifle and a cheap scope scope rings so this hands down is the best 22 caliber air rifle I've purchased under $200 if you're new at shooting air rifles this air rifle is hands-down the best if you can find me a gun that is $99 that is nicer than the prowler please let me know what gun is and I will purchase it
Would this take down a possum? If so, from a distance or better a close range head shot?
yes it will.
Lemar Francis can you give me some insight. Im really thinking about getting one tonight.
Ya the crosman vantage np in .22 cal is great got it for $79 from pyramyd air ☺
Good price. At Walmart and Academy they are 99 bucks. Was thinking about getting the Titan NP that's on sale at Academy for 129.00. Regular price is 160.00 there but I like this Prowler too. Having a huge rat problem here in North Texas and need a hard hitter.
Either one would probably do you good. Might have to experiment with ammo choice. Might set one up this weekend. Wooden spoon rat skull same thing.
The Prowler is a very hard hitting momma, it will tare them rats up.
What centerpoint attachment was that?
About 6 months ago I got one of these. Looks just like yours except the barrel is different. It is thicker from the stock to the end of the barrel. It says it is a Benjamin prowler .22. Just wondering if there is any difference.
At Walmart here in CT $69. AND change
Just shot mine, it's been a while, very hard hitter. Minor zero, groups 1 in.
You sir are missed!
a lot of the good ones are gone 😢
I have a probably with minds d two front screws keep on snapping
Bought one a few weeks past.was looking at gamo products, but couldn't make up my mind. Price was the main reason, but had to be a ,22 or better.
RIP Charles we miss the videos
Excellent products …
I find it easier to hold the barrel, set the stock on me or something, and push the action/barrel hinge area away, then finish cocking without turning the rifle. The rifle first has to be set vertical and turned using either method. Try it about 20 times and maybe you'll find it more intuitive. My Benjamin Prowler does everything right, is surprisingly accurate.
I'm old ,crippled, blind, and impatient. Also thanks to you tube on the clock. But I'll try
NP stands for nitrogen piston.
Between the Benjamin Prowler and the Benjamin Steel Eagle NP2 which one will you recommend
What scope rings fit the prowler I accidently broke mine and don’t know what rings to buy that’ll fit on the barrel
Frankly, I'm scared to buy an expensive break-barrel since I'm new to it. This seems like a good route to test the waters.
i got 3 breaker barrels.....they take a lil getting use to....alot of fun
@@redblue40rc33 Thanks! I think I'm just gonna buy it and enjoy.
great thing about air guns you dont have to spend 500 bucks to have fun
@@backyardplinking2043 Thanks, man. I've been having fun with my 1377 all modded up but I got a fever for a rifle.
You won't need another air rifle these things are accurate and hit very hard.
would you recommend it? want to get one
How is the trigger pull compared to a Crosman? The Crosman's is undoubtedly the worst I've ever experienced.
Not bad. It is adjustable. More or less creep to the final decision. Benjamin is still it's on thing. Crosman just brought the money.
Gotcha. Thanks.
I bought me one of those but haven't had a chance to shoot it yet . I live in town and have to many next door neighbors .
Whats the difference between the titan and the prowler? Am i losing by trying to save money?
no. both are pretty close all around except for looks
Is this better then the tnt ruger
.22 max?
Seen then refurbished with by Crossman for $90 . I may bite, since i dont have one o de'm newfangled gas piston powerplants. Seems just as loud as the springers, thou. Again, another good nonsence video. Thanks. 👍
you are welcome
how do u put the scope on that comes with it. it has a weird screw that doesn’t screw
Did you get it at walmart
I'm the one who asked for this review and just got mine yesterday haven't shot it yet tho and got a bad battery in my flashlight
You'll like it. Be sure and read all the directions. I would set the trigger first, then sight it in.
You'll love it. Read all the directions and I will suggest setting the trigger first before sighting it in.
backyard plinking well I'm 11 so my dad forced my to read all the instructions
Hey Charles do you know where the crosman store is located in the us I ordered a metal receivers 2100 crosman air rifle on amazon from them but no info on the location of the store do you know if that's crosman the company or another that's the name on amazon the crosman store ? ??? Help buddy
Charles, what pellet do you recommend I use in my Ruger Air Hawk Elite II?
I have the same one with a different scope and I stack pellets on top of each other. 22 cal.
So is this just a brake barrel? Or do you need to do something else to cock or power it
break barrel only
backyard plinking alright, thanks
I have one but It barely dropped when I went hunting and the rim that protects the trigger broke off so Do I really need that ?
i dont know, do you?
Idk bro
The best pellet i found is the h&n hornet it groups so nice killed a squirrel in 5 min of sighting it in i bought 5 different packs of pellets h&n hornet,h&n terminator, crossman destroyer, crossman hollow points and the pellets with the bb in the front of it. With all them the hornet grouped the best.. And they were the moat $ at 15$ for 200
How many shots did it take for the prowler to shoot accurate ?
I would have got this gun if it had open sights, wound up getting the ruger impact elite instead.
How is it?
@@bidenisacommunistpuppet.3831 i like it but there are better guns for the price or just a little more . The gun is smooth and accurate at closer ranges. I'm getting around 720fps with crosman premier 14.3 grain pellets.
@@jake4194 I like my 38.
I thought np was nitro piston. Because it comes with the Nitro piston
It is.
I can't seem to keep that gun sighted in with the scope it came with maybe it is the scope gonna get a different one soon wat h channel to find out
