  • With the release of the movie Minamata, i decided to make a Minolta SRT video aswell. On this episode i CLA'd and swap the focus screen to split type. Hope this will help you out in servicing your own Minolta SRT series camera.

    Very good video, highly informative is appreciated. I have a few cameras in the series that need adjustments and your input will allow me to do so since where I live there are no technicians dedicated to these cameras. Realizing that the X-700's screen is compatible was a real breakthrough. If it were possible for you to make a video of how to replace the strings it would be invaluable help for many. Again thank you very much and greetings from Sweden.

    In case anyone is taking apart an srt 202 you need to remove 4 extra screws to remove the top plate. Two are on either side of the Minolta face plate that protrudes out slightly. You can then remove it and access two more flat head screws beneath.

      I cannot thank you more for saving me tons of time and probably my camera itself as well. Most of the tutorials online are 101 so there's no such step.

    Thank you for your work! I'm about to try to fix my 303. The lightmeter needle is stuck in the upper position, possibly due to foam bumper. Also shutter speed indicator is misaligned, though working. Do you think there's a way to correct it's position? Thanks!

    Thank you for this awesome video! Did you have to file/re-shape the x-700 screen to fit?

    Hey Ive been having issues with my srt 102 focusing. Everything looks normal on the inside but when focusing beyond infinite the split screen wont make things match and nothing will focus with the respective distances, for example, 3 m wont focus even when its exactly 3 m, 5 m wont focus even when its exactly 5 m, and so on, all the way to infinite which wont focus on the split screen either. Is there some way to calibrate the focusing screen, mirror or veiwfinder?
    Ive tried adjusting the 3 screws holding the splitscreen shown in your video but that didnt seem to work

    Hi I have a Minolta SRT 303B and it seems that the hotshoe and pc sync port is not working. Is it possible for a hotshoe to stop working though?

    You put the shutter speed to 1000 and took the cap off, said you’d explain why later. Did I miss you explaining?

    I just was going to do this with a split prims from nikon fg into cosina ct-1. Found out that cosina screen is 1x0,5mm smaller :(

      Ahh yup, your best bet is with same brand and model series.

      @@Filmstripflips Yeah but afaik there are no cosinas of the same line with split prism :( Nikon FG is easy mode because you just unscrew one screw and you can change to any of the provided screens. I might be stuck with the microprism with the ct-1.

    They used thin thread to move some of the controls? Ugh.

    • @danc2014
      @danc2014 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is used to sync the controls. Every movement of the ASA, shutter speed or f stop will alter the meter needle position to make the meter sensor operate properly. Since all the controls are in different places the string works great if you do not break it.

      I have 12 SRT's, dating from 1966 to 1981. The strings in all of them are in great shape. They used very robust material for the strings.
