@@basicwitgirl yeah each punch i am sitting on the edge of my chair hoping for big critical hits. No one puts that mage in the back for support, she goes right into battle as a vanguard. i dig it, a front line mage is a fun build!
Awww alistair was one of my first pixelated crushes!! I fell in love with his goofy golden retriever personality. And he's one of my favorite romances in the ENTIRE bioware series 😊❤
Same ❤😂 in all fairness he was the first game character who ever flirted with me lol I remember calling my bf into the room like 'Babe! Alistair is flirting with me!' 🤪
Tip: Whenever you find a merchant, look for backpacks, and if he has one, buy it (no matter the cost!) They do get progressively more expensive, but they are quite rare, so if you don't want to keep running up against your inventory limit, you'll want to get as many of them as possible. I believe there are only about five or six in the entire game, and some merchants can't be returned to, so if you see a backpack... grab it!
No need to worry about Alistair's comments about dogs. Once you get to know him, you'll understand why. That and he is just SO beautiful and such a sarcastic Golden Retriever!
@@basicwitgirl You're going to end up taking the specialisation obtained through that Phylactery in an odd place, beyond a _shadow_ of a doubt. But yeah, you'll want more than fists to fight a certain horror you need to kill to progress in one of the main stories. As in 'you won't want to so much as touch that thing'.
Regarding the Origin stories: 54:20 is the point where they merge. So everything before that is completely different depending on which of the six the origin stories you choose.
Careful getting knocked out in combat when they come back sometimes they have injuries that lower their stats and you’ll need a injury consumable to use on yourself or companions
in case you have problems/crashes: look for the 4GB / LAA patch for the game (allows 32bit apps to use more RAM), and Qwinn's Ultimate DAO Fixpack v3.52 - Mod another good Mod is the one that allows you to take the Dog with you on every mission and Dog doesn't take up one of the four companion slots.
It’s really awesome you’re playing this, I just replayed and beat Inquisition, and I just started a replay of DAO. This one is such a classic, one of the best BioWare games. Wish I could play it for the first time again lol have fun! I’ll be sure to check this series out!
I can’t believe you fist fought your way through that whole quest. 😅 You really need to learn how to equip items for your whole party. Every character is important.
So sad I missed the premier for this one but it was a great episode! I love how you said “he’s so tall” girl no he ain’t, you’re just short as hell lol. Elves are tiny little people in this game.
watching Basic meet Alistair for the first time was like seeing your parents meet 😂 I was so focused on your face the entire time 🤣 enjoy everyone's favorite Grey Warden hunk, mother! 😆😎
Two episodes in, still in the tutorial and I'm already having a blast! You are slowly getting the hang of it too! It's a learning curve for a lot of us 😅 Thanks for the video, basic and Taylor. See you on Thursday ❤
This series is so great to watch! You are hilarious with all of your added comments after every dialogue choice. I have played through most of the origin stories but I have not seen an Elf Mage playthrough and your commentary has been really fun to see it play out. I like how you kept repeating Alistair doesn't like dogs haha. This game is literally the best and you have only scratched the surface, can't wait for your next episode!
I am really lovin’ your style and commentary as you do your first play thru.. It’s been years since I play DA : Origins.. but i am so invested in seeing how you craft your own story of this epic and classic adventure! Subbed and liked!
Helpful tips (non spoiler): 1) Scrolling the mouse wheel can switch between over-shoulder and top-down views. So, you can adjust the camera to a different view if you have a preference of one over the other. 2) You can pull your quickbar ALL the way across the screen to provide more space for abilities, potions and skills. If keeping the bar "unlocked" you can move things around for quicker "combo moves" as well. (then it simply becomes a pressing of the 1-2 buttons instead of constantly seeking the locations on the quick bar. Also, as far as "being a snitch".... lore-wise due to The Circle in general AND The Chantry, you did the "right thing" even if it feels like you did someone wrong.
I knew this playthrough was going to be special, 2nd ep just confirmed xD. Love the zeal and exploration. Also, don't worry, Alistair is not a red flag. What he says about dogs is not the whole truth.
Playing without equipping any equipment, only collecting it, in an RPG? Interesting strategy.. Also, you cannot play Dragon Age or Mass Effect games without quicksave/quickload, especially Origins (as the combat gets harder). Save scumming is the best strategy, so press F5 every time you turn a corner, and/or before dialogue. That and you'll have to pause to use abilities of your companions as well (there is AI setup I believe in options for companions, in-game). Back when it was released, I played the whole game in close third person cam, that's the best one. Tactical view isn't needed much, though it can be useful in some circumstances (when outside). While we're at it, use keyboard shortcuts for the abilities, you can move abilities around in bar, and you can just lower the game res to increase font and icon/UI size.
Getting better with combat. Reason you still had some problems in fights is that you didn't equip roque girl with swords. Rogues also do twice the damage if they are positioned to attack enemies from behind. In general, rule 1 in combat-if enemy has mages ignore everything and take down mages first. And keep your mages on distance. You can also put health and mana potions into quick slots where spells are. That bar can expand to full length of your monitor. You did not lose your staff, just accidently switched through 2 sets of weapons each party member can take. You switch between them clicking on small sword icons.
This channel, meaning you and Taylor, is among the best combos I've seen on TH-cam. Loved the first episode (still working on your ME3 pt), know I'm gonna love this one. Keep rocking, much love from Sweden ❤🤙 Your acting is truly top tier 😅👌 My loot would be my mobile, and not much else. I have a soon to be obsolete ID card (going digital) 🤔 Not much, but I am a man 😆
As a mage you just need magic for your skills and abilities, willpower for your mana pool to cast spells and constitution for your health\hitpoints. Just a FYI.
@basicwitgirl give Alastair a chance further on. I think he may end up being your DA Kaiden. He's sarcastic and funny. There is more to him than he seems.
Before unrealistic expectations are cemented, I want to add that they have some overlap, but are very much different people! I'd detail how, but it's going to play out and reveal itself sooner or later.
@lockboxDAI Well, of course, they are two different people. Im saying that she may like Alastair like how she likes Kaiden. Different VAs and different games, different characters. No one was suggesting otherwise.
