5:44:31 the bad writing is so obvious in this scene. We're clearly supposed to sympathize with Taash here but the whole scene has the opposite effect because of Taash's behavior. Such an insufferable character. I sympathize more with the mother in this scene than Taash. At least the mother is trying to be understanding.

1:55:40 Dragon Age: The Veilguard was nominated in a single category at the 2024 Game Awards: Innovation in Accessibility. Even Dragon Age 2, a game BioWare threw together in just over a year, managed to snag two nominations at the 2011 Game Awards (Best RPG and Best Song).
very little role playing and choice, rook is just on the rails. imagine calling this piece of shit and rpg when bg3 exists. Inquisition isn't actually that bad now. you got a long way to go, to finish
Dragon age always had YA and Romantasy elements, but the core of the experience was the nuance and complexity of a Tolkien meets ASoIF inspired fantasy world. Once all the complex characters and moral dilemmas are striped out DA is just dollar store Twilight.
6:17:51 best moment Also i roughly counted how many times they say Elgernan and/or Gilenane in a sentence (in this single video) and it went up to 53 times (give or take some since i fell asleep mid counting cuz this game is so boring) given this video is 400 minutes long that leaves an average of hearing their names every 7.5 minutes!
I can't wait for this to be a angry, ANGRY review. This is gonna be like a "Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance" moment, if anyone remembers that trash.
Recently finished the game, and I thought the game's writing was weak af and could've been handled way better... BUT Joe you're not playing the combat right... as a reviewer, you can't refuse to engage with the game mechanics and then complain about the enemies being bullet sponges... That's being as disingenuous as the Veilguard shills out there. I played on underdog cause I suck at action games lol but I thought most of the healthbars were fine. At 2:20:50, when he unlocked a new weapon, it was at +1... The max level for weapon upgrades are +10. And since he doesn't upgrade the workshop we can safely assume he doesn't know about enchantments at this point. And i'm not sure if he reads and chooses the right equipment for his playstyle (you can equip rings and weapons in the game that for example increases all light attacks). No wonder his weapon damage is abysmal. 6:22:00 was by far the most infuriating, since he has TEN unused skillpoints... Outside of fenharel statues you get a skillpoint per level... Levels don't increase you're damage, you're supposed to unlock multipliers from the skilltree based on your preferred gameplay style. He's literally fighting as if he's 10 levels behind what he's already is. And throughout the dragon fight... There were so many instances where the legs were flashing bright blue (weakpoint exposed) and he chooses to continue hitting the legs that weren't weakpoints... Not to mention, he did ZERO detonations. Harding had a skill that can detonate for Taash, but he didn't equip it. Detonations slow the enemy down and deals really good damage. It's supposed to create a huge dps window in fights and he completely didn't use the mechanic I really hope he'll take some time to learn the mechanics and give the combat a fair shot. I've always looked forward to Angry Reviews for fair, balanced and funny reviews :(
I played 200h of Veilguard, at one point i was one shotting, testing builds, etc, i did the 100%, its always so sad when we see people complaing about stuff, and don't even try to understand the game. I'm not saying the game is goated or something, but come on, to review something at least try to understand the game, unless some topics wont be fair at all, and will be misleading to people.
The reason it got nominated for the best accessibility category is because it's accessible to millennials with ADHD that have an attention span of 40 seconds by making the characters repeat the names of the antagonists over 9000 times.
So you can throw the shield half way across the map with no limit?? Have these devs ever played video games?? You put a close range limit on weapons like that. I'm getting Saints Row vibes of incompetence here. There's quite a bit of game design that is abnormal for this genre. Lol a coincidence, wrote this as Joe was pointing out you never see the same people working from week to week.
The problem is that every class has to have the same move set because you can only control one character for the entire game. If they limited the range of shield throw then some parts of the game may have been impossible. There is practically no difference between the three classes
I was tempted because my friend is black and she is often asked if her bag is fake. People just immediately assume they are. Even though I'm white, I still get people asking me if my bag is real. So I thought why should I spend so much money on these bags? So in the end I chose to buy it at kislux . Even if it is not the original, some replicas can have special emotional value because they are connected to specific memories
They did not. Even I played longer than them at this point 🤣 I think most reviewers didn't finish the game, because of how boring and repetetive it gets after 15 hours.
I mean it's difficult to tell if Mass Effect will be this bad because I think this game suffers a lot from switch between live service to single player but I definitely will never buy another Bioware game day one. I need to see trusted reviews and gameplay to see if it really is worth playing. If Mass Effect has the same story and rpg element problems then I'll be ignoring it too. I like these games for those reasons and if I'm no longer getting the experience that Origins started, I'm out.
Difficult to tell? Really? Andromeda, Anthem and now Veilguard aren't enough for you as proper examples of what next ME will look like? It will have good looking enviroments and solid combat yet fail miserably in every other aspect.
@marcuskane1040 Veilgaurd doesn't have solid combat, and despite the problems that Andromeda had, it was still thought to be a decent game. Which brings me to my point, all these games had different reasons for their criticisms and failures. While yes, we can see the rpg elements getting weaker over time, if the next Mass Effect comes out like Inquisition did, then it will fool people into believing it's good. Inquisition is polished enough with big maps and new game elements that it was able to fool people, but if you consider that game deeper, the maps were just mostly filled with collection items. They had interesting looking story environments but had no reflection on the rpg gameplay. For example there was this interesting mine that gave a story about the miners stumbling onto something evil in the depths, I was excited and expect to find some interesting story to interact with while exploring that mine... nope, just exits at the other side of the map with nothing in it. Complete waste of time and investment. Yet that game was able to fool the Angry Joe crew. DA origins would have put way more effort into those elements, which is why it was so groundbreaking. The first two Mass Effect games were the same. But the reason that Andromeda failed for me was the same issue as Inquistion had. Where as Anthem and Veilguard failed horribly because they were first and foremost a live service game, focused on the wrong genre and excluding even more what the target audience wants from an rpg game like Dragon Age and Mass Effect. Now personally I'll be disappointed with the next Mass Effect game if it ends up like Andomeda or Inquisition but I'll still be willing to get it when it eventually goes on sale. If the game is a confused mess like Veilgaurd, then count me out. The chances are that it will be because EA is probably still trying to push all the live service bs but it's possible that if they don't push that then the next game these creators create will be less confused of what they are putting out, and it may end up being decent enough to do better. Will it be great?? Not likely. Good?? Probably not by my standards. Good enough to sell, possiblely, if they make an rpg for rpg players, not an rpg for live service players. Which is the looter shooter crowd.
@@AmazingKevinWClark Mass Effect has been falling off a cliff. ME3 was unfinished on release, and Andromeda was literally unplayable for a lot of people. I uninstalled it after a whole building full of enemies I just killed respawned invisible

Did you guys see the How to Train Your Dragon live action trailer?? Normally I don't care for the live action versions of classic animations because they are usually 10 times worse than the original but this one seems good enough. A lot of the scenes are one for one but the original DreamWorks movie did it well so it's difficult to do it any better. I don't mind going to see this one, normally I just ignore the remakes.
