Non spoiler tips: Explore the entire map and talk to everyone as you missed quests, loot and lore. Some areas you won't be able to come back to. Sell to any merchant you can find and sell a lot and always check them for a backpack. Only a few have a backpack and they may show up one time and not again. Hold Tab or whatever is equivalent on controller to highlight loot and books. If companions are not following check that the hold position button is not on. When you level up check along the spell or ability to the end, some you will want to work towards sooner. Check companions weapons, armor and tactics and give them some healing potions in their quick bar.
I really love the storytelling element of having the two other recruits die in two different ways, to show the player just how serious being a Grey Warden is in this world.
Yea and honestly as a player it sticks with you in later games when you run into them or have the ability to make someone with their background, etc. They're the real shit.
The reason they are not following you is that you put them on hold, small hand icon below last char. portrait. Morrigan voice actress was in ME, Liara's half Krogan "dad" bartender and also voice for one of Quarrian generals that wanted to dissect Legion. Claudia Black, she was in one of Riddick movies with Vin Diesel in early 2000s and in best space opera tv show of all time-Farscape. And Morrigan's mom, Flemeth is Captain/Admiral Janeway from Star Trek Voyager, Kate Mulgrew.

I loved when you realized Alistair was still throwing punches! 😂 I'm sure you will get the hang of all mechanics soon though ❤ Hope you solve the issue with the party not following you soon! Thanks again for the laughs, basic and Taylor! See you on Monday!
A tip. You can drag the hot bar and make it longer and can drag any usable items ie: potions, injury kits, bombs, lyrium potions etc and put them on the hot bar. You can also set it up in the tactics to have companions to auto take potions self>health>less than 25% use item> least powerful health potion. Just have to make sure that you keep stocked up. I’ve had up to like 99 of each.
Thats not a croptop - thats a leather chestplate with metal top :D Since you havent figured out why nobody follows you - there are two symbols under your characters. One is "one/all characters" the other is "follow/stay put". Currently your choice is Stay Put so they arent moving. You can also toggle it with H if I remember.
Man, this episode was going through it! I forgot how bleak the beginning of this game was, through my rose colored glasses of Morrigan's outfit, dogs, and Alistair's quips. Also just glad to see elf Basique becoming the snipergirl we always knew she could be.
Good way to remember how hellish the world of Dragon age can (and should, screw everything past 2, even 2 was an inferior product) be is to remember that The Fade is effectively The Warp from Warhammer.
People have already mentioned squad control tips, but you shouldn't be leading the charge as a mage. Select the toughest defender on team (usually with a shield) and make him the one to take point. Mages and archers should be positioned far away in the battle while you control melee units for.. well, melee. This is pretty much were tactical view comes into play, the moment the combat starts (you can play the rest of the game in third person with WASD, I did the same). You'll have to pause in battle, select team members and use their abilities as well, micro-managing combats is the key in the end (like when you hear enemy rogues growling, you shouldn't stand and wait for them to attack). Also, you should explore the areas more, a lot of side-quests and goodies are spread around. You need to talk with people more, go through all dialogue options. Origins is all about talking, and skipping dialogue kinda defeats the point of this RPG. I would also recommend not relying on Quicksaves only. They are good for exploration, but you should make normal saves at regular intervals (new slots every time) because you can seriously run into issue where bad item management (overusing health items esp.) can lead to harder gameplay in the future battles, making fights painful.
I hate BioWare for never making a remastered version. They seem not to care about all their older titles besides Mass Effect, which is a shame because there’s so many good ones, I’d love to see a new Jade Empire.
@ That would be great, and the one they had on the switch STILL has the Bastilla bug. So not only are the uninterested in remasters, they’re also uninterested in FIXING them. I guess that’s what modders are for, but it still just leads me to believe they dgaf.
It would be difficult. No way they could do it on the Frostbite engine, which they seem to be in love with for whatever reason. It's designed for that engine in particular, and I can't see anything else working without sacrificing all the RPG elements.
They have stated that there is practically no one left at Bioware that knows the old frostbite engine fro DAO and that it is next to impossible to remaster the game because of this, but they haven't ruled it out 100% yet.

Mage need only two parameters at level up - Magic and Willpower. Everything else - you just throwing points away. It's not BG3 - so most classes needs only two parameters except rogues. Also for a mage - when picking skills - two levels of Combat Mastery is very important despite looking like it's for warriors only. Also, you can drag potions from inventory to the bottom of the screen where abilities are - to make new shortcut for faster access.
Basic, we much prefer to laugh with you not at you. Although making Alastair punch his way through the first darkspawn was a hella funny. Once you really get the hang of things you'll be kicking the darkspawn in the moth. Making use of the move freely/hold position toggle can be very handy to bring the enemy into your killzone, so just because it wasn't quite working for you in this episode don't give up on its tactical usefulness.
