I loved this show when I was a kid and even bought thin novels based on the show. Now I watch it from the parents' perspective and I'm amazed at what a good little actor Jerry Mathers was for such a young boy.
Still looks just the same, esp. his facial expressions. I LOVE YOU, JERRY MATHERS! LITB was and still is one of the GREATEST shows ever on TV. Your fans still remember the endless joy you and the rest of the cast created. RIP Hugh and Barbara! Much love!
I watched re-runs of Leave it to Beaver growing up. I've always thought of this as a traditional "milk toast" show (I'm from a younger generation). To hear Jerry talk about how revolutionary the show was is an interesting and new perspective for me. And while shows like Beaver showed an unrealistically "safe" and uncontroversial view of ordinary people (as the argument goes), perhaps it helped people escape their own harsh realities for a while. And after all, isn't that what T.V. is all about?
Jerry Mathers is well spoken and I could listen to him talk for hours. I love LTB and try to watch the show as much as possible.
