I can totally relate. I’m 59. I also suffer from depression. Being disabled doesn’t help. I used to watch the reruns of Leave It to Beaver almost everyday when I was a kid. Today, I stream a lot of stuff with Hulu and Netflix…and Amazon. Right now I’m rewatching. “Family Ties” which was an 80s favorite of mine that I used to watch in college. Sometimes these old shows really bring back a lot of great memories.

Still one of my go-to shows, two episodes every day on MeTV. One thing I love is that the show reflects the social structure at the time for middle-to-upper middle class families: Ward going to work every day in a suit, June with her pearls and dresses, the perfect house, breakfast, lunch and dinner, and ‘may I be excused?’ when meals were done. A true glimpse of US history is still available every day at 8:00 AM.

ikr? the only thing that I don't think was totally accurate was the wives doing all the housework while dressed up, but they did dress up before their husbands came home from work. I see "celebrities" take swipes at Leave it to Beaver by saying it wasn't "real", but for middle America, yes, it was real. 👍

You also went to high school with future NFL player John Vella, although not in the same graduating class. What was Jerry like in high school and did u know about his band Beaver and the Trappers?

@@cdgates1 You are right. I remember John Vella. I used to shoot pool with Jerry at his house. Ed Begley Jr. was also in our class. Rick Connelly was also in our class and wrote a book about his father Joseph Connelly who was the producer of Leave It To Beaver. The book is titled "Not Really Hollywood" by Rick Connelly

Hey Jerry. Bless you man. I met you in Winston Salem as you were a spokesperson for the Dietetics foundation at a wellness convention. I brought in a signed photographic you called it out as Tony's autograph was fake. Wow. I will always remember our conversation. I became a friend of yours on FB and you posted a pic of you carving a turkey. Many years later I showed my Dad and he could not believe I knew you. Thanks for your kindness, Sincerely Wayne Merry

I had a picture of me and Jerry from Six gun territory in Ocala Fl. from 1966 or 67 he was about 19 or 20 years old , he signed it. and I kept it for years, My mother asked to see it and lost it. I was broken hearted.😭

I think it was 1966. We were on a family vacation going to North Carolina. We stopped at Six gun territory in Ocala on the way up to North Carolina. When we were there we learned Jerry was there signing autographs. Somewhere I should have the picture of my mother and me at the table with Jerry. I was 6 years old at the time. Somewhere in our family possessions we should still have the picture of Jerry that he autographed. I guess we were there at the same time Wanda. I ditto what the other comments are saying about Jerry being a super nice guy. He is the only celebrity that I have ever received an autograph from. Glad to see that you're still doing good. I wish many more years of good health for you.

He is an amazing person. He had a wonderful loving family. He served his country in the Air Force. He got married and had children, for whom he provided love and care. That's the way America was once. It's a shame we no longer hold the same values.
