I love when there is someone who is a true fan who gets to induct an artist into the RRHOF! The love, enthusiasm and true appreciation for that artist is contagious and helps explain why they are being inducted. Love Drew and love the Go-Go's!

I saw a bunch of negative posts about the Go-Go's induction and a slew of bands (insert name here) who they thought should be in before them. It's really annoying on so many levels to me. I think just for the fact thst they were the first all-female band who played their own instruments, wrote their own songs, made it to #1 on Billboards Top 100 best selling albums and were not put together by some Svengali management team are reasons enough to set them apart. I also believe that each artist will get their day and that there's enough love to go around for everyone. The fans always voice their opinions and that's how so many of my faves got nominated. The hits - “We Got the Beat” and “Our Lips Are Sealed” - are among the best songs of the rock era, but album tracks like “This Town” and “Lust to Love” would have been the best songs other groups ever recorded. The album is a masterpiece, and the band is an American original. God bless The Go-Go’s.

Drew Barrymore did a fantastic job. I don't think they could have picked a better person. The Go-Go's are such a great band with such great classic tunes that have always been underrated. A perfect example of that is when they were robbed of a Grammy award in 1982 for best new artist. The Go-Go's were the hottest new act, and they lost to Sheena Easton. This is why it was so great that their induction ceremony by Drew Barrymore was so awesome. Those 5 women finally were rewarded their flowers. ❤
I have always loved her ‘ adore her “attitude!” Drew has never cared how she looks or what she says! With Drew Barrymore, what you see is what you get & there in lies her “special charm for me!” I adore her! Do not care who you you are or what you may say publicly but the fact is the GO-GO,s are not just a kick ass band but they more than deserve this honor. These five along with others ie the Wilson sisters, Joan Jett Stevie nicks Janis Joplin grace slick, and so many more like them have earn the right to belong. They have fought the fight, endured the double standard , the discrimination and the bias all because they were woman. It's amazing the industry wanted them and need them. An industry ruled by men and Thier narrow Machi male chovinist view of the world , the industry and of women . The problem was these dudes got what they wanted in this group. They were women. They were and still are beautiful. They can write music. They can compose music. They play there own instruments. And these women wanted to be and felt that the should be able to act like Rick n rollers . Just like any other male group . That includes all the sex drugs and debauchery that comes with it. Why should they , they navigated the same roads with extreme success. It was this thought of girls being as capable and even more so than most of thier make counter parts. The idea that woman could jam as hard creates as well and truely party as hard as any male group out there this is what scared the heck out of the industry's makers and shakers. Theses women scared the hell out of them, this causing this induction to take as long as it has. Well the time has come. The doors are now open just as they were obliterating the ground then they still are today hold up your hands yell it out loud, lady's and gents may i introduce to you all the most awesome all woman's band in the Rock and Roll hall of Fame membership, ladies and gents it's my pleasure to present to you The GO-GOS!

I became a fan when I became aware of their 45rpm single ‘Surfin & Spying’ which was a tribute to The Ventures.
I figured out how to play this song on guitar, Gogo's version when I heard it.
