I'm starting to see that "I'm only losing because my teammates suck" is the biggest mistake in all of Overwatch.

actually I would argue the biggest mistake isn't blaming teammates, it's not being able to acknowledge one's own mistakes as well.
@@tymandude1510 tbf, even incredibly good players noticeably struggle when on a team and in a comp with clearly lower ranked players; they’re so used to playing well, and their enemies playing well to match them, that multiple confused low rank players with no strategy can look horrifying to them 😂 like some kind of wild hydra 😂💀
My brother and I stopped playing comp due to people like this. Ok, mostly me, but we did both stop.
The people who constantly rag on their teammates are *consistently* the ones making mistakes. A Jesse/Cole/whatever who keeps running ahead of the tank without stopping yelling at supports for not keeping him alive when he constantly gets 1-2 tapped...several times in a row. These people are delusional and they want to drag everyone down with them.
1:40 there is no possible way this person exists… they really looked at the dps role and said that there’s not enough characters for a situation… imagine how support players feel with our severely lagging number of characters that are split among 2 people.
I, without a doubt, believe the guy making the tiktok is just generally bored of the game. Saying there is no variety is quite misplaced imo.

His problem isn't lack of numbers, is lack of choice. Apparently he lacks "generalist DPS", aka, a hero he can use in any situation. That's not how the game works. Overwatch has strengths and weaknesses and that's how it works, people are not supposed to play a hero 24/7
He was making some solid point about hard counters being generally bad for the game and that soft counters will exist to some extent and player skill is an important factor but then he uses that to say all the characters are boring?

Sojourn IS dominating in low ranks as well. Sometimes people can hit headshots, but they don't even need to because a fully charged railgun to the body is enough to finish off targets a lot of the time.

Yes, thank you! How many times is Flats going to say this nonsense. Sojourn is dominating in gold/plat/diamond too, AND they can hit head shots. The amount of times a Sojourn has been the sole savior of the point/cart to carry the enemy I can't even count. She is practically a brain dead character who takes less skill to use than most of the other dps.
Railgun is literally better helix rocket. You DO NOT NEED to hit headshots with it. You can quickly get targets to around half then delete them with charged railgun. Honestly removing railgun's ability to headshot would be a fine balance, it's still really strong without it
I mean, you can delete a 200hp target in half of a second with all bodyshots just by adding in the orb and a sixth of a second with a few headshots.
I actually had the tanks on both teams walk off the map by accident today at the same time. Looking at the replay everyone else on both teams just stood still and watched it for a moment.

I played against widow in qp once, and felt so bad that i told her in chat she had to...charge the rifle. I know just letting her spam no damage shots at us helped our team, but it was just too painful. What gets me is why didnt HER team inform her lol

I played against genji in deathmatch as rein and he kept coming up to me and dying to hammer swings mo deflect or dash so i typed in the chat that deflect works on hammer swings, they still didnt do it

@@Eadwulf_Skald if they weren't charging their shots they probably were in bronze. Awareness of what you're teammates are doing in bronze is at an all time low. Silver isn't much better. It's an important skill to climb out of those ranks so sure, they "should". I'm just being realistic

I like how brutally honest you are my guy, people won't learn if they don't get told what they're doing wrong. I remember when I first stumbled on your channel, I was a bronze bot and was not pulling my weight. My aim is alright, but I struggled with positioning and overextending, and I will honestly admit I did not know how to properly play the game. After watching a few videos and actually trying to improve my gameplay, I've climbed to gold and am still climbing! Hoping to eventually get to platinum, I think if I work at it I can make it. So I just wanted to thank you for telling me strait up that I was dogshit, the criticism was very helpful, and I'm actually improving now.

4:47 I wasn't a tank player, but back before role queue I was proud that I was able to properly play dive alongside my Winston while playing Dva with our Genji, followed by the rest of our team. My only reference was watching online tourneys (pre-owl) but it was an old enough strat in my mind that it worked just fine.

I have to disagree with the Sojourn point somewhat. While it is true that she isn't dominant in lower ranks, she still pops up all the time and has a tendency to outperform in games. She isn't oppressive like she is at the highest level of play. But the notion that she isn't impacting lower levels is, in my experience, total nonsense. Just because the average Silver of Gold player isn't clicking heads all the time doesn't mean she isn't a problem down low, either, and makes the balancing team's rationale even more ludicrous.

Had that Bap situation with a friend of mine. He was new to OW but only played DPS so he knew those characters. He wanted to heal so I told him to pocket me playing tank. Throughout the match I kept telling him to heal me, so he would use the AOE. I then noticed him firing healing grenades at the enemy and asked him what he was shooting at and realized why he was never healing me. When I told him the grenades only heal allies, we both busted out laughing. He went back to strictly DPS and I went back to being the groups main support.
Yesterday I had a lucio throw because I picked genji, and when I switched mei he instantly started to pop off and started Picking me up from spawn, most hilarious shit ever

My Genji players are honestly mostly decent but even if they're not I have someone to teleport to in the enemy backlines if I need to help pick someone off and for some reason Genji players are always low on health so it's like we're best buds even without talking. Everyone plays Sojourn even in low ranks because even if they can't get as much out of them as they might with even just a Soldier or Pharah, they PERCIEVE them to be very strong because they're batshit broken in high elos. Same reason why everyone played Genji in low elos.

It always blows my mind how almost every gaming community believes their game to be the most toxic. I've even heard rocket league players say their community is by far the most toxic which after playing for over a year is absurd to me. I don't know if these people just want to feel special or if they are genuinely ignorant about toxicity in other games. I competed in minecraft pvp for 5 years back in the mid 2010's and it was scarily common for people to get DDoS'd or doxxed after winning. There weren't many early pvp streamers for this reason. Even with this background, I am aware that this was not the most toxic community of all time. Probably not even top 3. If a game is competitive in any form, then there will inevitably be substantial toxicity. People just want to feel special I guess.

That's because many players are in a vacuum where they only know of a few game and play even less consistently compared to the ammount of games exist so they isolate that limited experience they've had. OW players in my experience have actually been less toxic than even Brawlhalla players and that's a 2D platform fighting game. Apex players have huge egos so they're pretty toxic too at times but even that's just my own experience and those I've seen
Many people just play a couple games they like or only stick to one, they form a bubble around themselves about what they think is the "most toxic" game and base it on that. With that being said, I believe that any video game that has the /v/ community on 4chan involved in any way will be the most toxic sewage sludge shit you have ever encountered.

I occasionally get players that don't. Problem is the Genji reflects it into me as the support player so they just keep shooting as they're like "I'm not taking any damage". When they reflect it back into them they eventually learn though

Top players need to stop generalizing and saying the same argument over and over again; the "sojourn is not dominating in low elo because bronze cant aim lmao lol" is not true. You can even see them in unranked, and in some games as well. Yes maybe there are less good sojourns in the lower elos but dude, they do exist and ruin the game for everyone else. These people be lowering the stakes for bronzes and such as if they have been a top player their whole life.

Make no mistake, Sojourn is broken in lower elos too - anyone who says she isn't is lying. I'm an old, decaying reflexes Gen-xer who gets around 45% accuracy on Cass & Ashe. I'm utter shite on Widow. I'm getting multiple 60-70% railgun accuracy games per night because the hitbox on the fully charged railgun shot is just too fucking large.
If a hero allows my mediocre aiming ass to hit 50%+ of their one-shot-kill shots, that hero is BUSTED.
For hero picks, it's different for each role. Tank, you pick for map and whether your attacking or defending. Support, you pick based on mainly your tank but sometimes based on dps. DPS, is very map dependent and often based on what the enemy picked. At least thats how I think about it

As a new Baptiste main, that last clip scares me because I have to imagine Baptiste without his grenade launcher.
Imagine this: his only way to heal other players is with a tiny AoE ability on a 15 second cooldown. This is also his only self heal so he’ll likely need to use it on himself in a dire situation before getting to his teammates. I don’t want to live in a reality like that.
He has less mobility and longer cool down than other support :/

i agree with that, all reworks and balance changes for OW2 made characters less unique. Some status effects have been reduced to absolute minimum, deleted, or made generic. Like : mei's freeze, sombra's hack, bastion turret form immobility, doom's combos, purple nade now available to other characters...

I find it funny when people call out counterpicking. Like, countering has always been in FPS games? Even in CoD, if there's a guy using a shotgun you fight them at range, or a sniper you edit your loadout to pick a sniper and deal with them. Going all the way back to games like Unreal, you would adapt your playstyle by using different weapons and abilities to most effectively deal with your enemies.
Yes, it can seem petty, and it IS petty a lot of the time, but the logical conclusion of "getting rid of counterpicking" is everyone moves, plays, attacks, and defends the exact same way because countering is inherent to having distinct and unique characters.
There is no countering really in CSGO and it is one of the most populous games by player numbers. Its raw mechanics by movement and shooting and outplaying using the equipment given to you. Only counter is to maybe stack a site but that is just gambling.
And honestly I would not call picking sniper against shotgun countering because you need specific kind of map for it to be actually effective. Back in the old days you could most of time beat snipers with shotgun if you just knew where they camped. I doubt COD has changed that much.

The lead hero designer said they were looking at her one-tap potential and iirc they mentioned at another time that they felt that Sojourn performs too well on high elo but needs a little help on low elo.
My guess is, they're gonna take away some power from her alt fire and slightly buff her primary fire instead.

Up slide cooldown(maybe reduce cc cooldown but I know its stronger in good hands but low ranks waste the shit out of that thing, probably more emphasis on that) and make railgun decay way quicker and she might be sort of fair. Translator here. This guy is probably a TF2 player, and from the terms used in this video ('Classes' and 'Generalists'), a competitive TF2 Player.
I'm not going to dwell deep into the gameplay theory of "competitive traditional 6s tf2" but just know that there is a community-derived categorization for the different characters in the game based on their playstyle. Generalists are valuable in almost every situation due to their damage and movement versatility able to switch from defense to offense, flank to frontline, ranged to close quarters etc. at a moment's notice. The opposite is a specialist who is really good at one or a few jobs and who's weaknesses would cripple a team most of the time.
I don’t know how people say sojourn isn’t dominating in low elo like I understand maybe bronze and silver but in all my high gold low plat games whenever sojourn is picked they always dominate

Not only is hitting headshots a possibility when you're not easily focused down for moving 2 inches a second like Widow, but you don't need to hit headshots on Sojourn. 130 to the body is more than enough burst

Flats I do want to say you contradict yourself when you talk about Sojurn. Blizzard talks about stats we all know is bs but then you believe the "twitter sphere." Yes take it as antidotal evidence however Sojurn is a problem in plat+. My main is Masters 1 tank and Diamond 3 DPS, I also have an alt account in plat 3 (For doomfist and JQ learning.) In those ranks there are people we call Deathmatch widow makers (now sojurn as well) their positioning sucks, but their aim is super good bc they spend all day in headshot only lobbies. Even though their POS is dog they still can easily dominate in Plat/Diamond bc people dont typically punish bad POS. Combine their decent headshot lobby aim with the movement of plats/diamond (AKA slightly more curved than a straight line) and it makes headshots pretty easy for them. Now obviously it's not NEARLY as bad as it is in High master/GM however it is still an overall meme and a problem in SOME games but not ALL. (would say like 35/65 which can still be demotivating for alot of people in lower ranks)

I got brand new players in gold all the time in OW1. And in OW2, they dropped me down from plat to who knows where. Getting brand new players is constant. You don’t have to be super low to see it.
Your team shooting a genji while he is deflecting not even realizing that there are characters that can damage him through deflect.
The guy who was saying that Overwatch is a toxic community: if you suggest a switch, because there’s so many characters, that player may not be able to play your suggestion but switching to something else means they may be acknowledging that they need to switch.

I go Soldier 70% of the time because getting heals in Silver is hit and miss.
I had the best mercy I've ever played with the other day. Healing me regularly, boosting me when I didn't need health, leaving at the right time to help teammates, etc. I didn't even need an E key.
Other times it's like I can go an entire game and never be healed mid fight, and I have to call for it a couple times if we win the fight and there's plenty of time to top everyone off.
Low and mid rank players won’t play the “meta” because most are trying to climb anyway and they have decided to pick a few characters to play
a lot of these new overwatch players have likely come from apex, which is probably where the whole "my teammates are bad, not me" came from because i cannot tell you HOW many apex players have that mentality

not knowing what a character can do is not forgivable there is literally a button we all use to figure out how to play new characters. the button is told to you in the tutorial you HAVE to play

I think people forget that even if he misses his hook, he can still kill you. His gun still does damage when hook is on cooldown. Just because he missed his hook doesn't mean you are safe from him.
Today I had this complete dumpster fire of a match.. teammate insta locked Rein and constantly charged to enemy Bastion, Ana and Zenyatta.
There's no way to cancel this hard subscription for death..
Career gold player (and one fluke Diamond season) here. I started trying sojourn a few weeks ago because I thought all the OP talk was fake (I don’t play against good players) turns out she will dominate in low ranks. Players stand in her disrupter shot like it doesn’t kill squishy heros. They don’t strafe, only walk in straight lines, so headshots are pretty easy to line up. There’s always a mercy every game so a damage boost for her ult is almost guaranteed (except healbots) i don’t find comp fun because I like to fool around in game, but what bit I have played, I’ve been climbing pretty well. I think the reason she’s “not dominating” low tier play is because a lot of golds and below (myself included) just haven’t realized how easy it is to do well with her.
you balance for the biggest player base, because in the end of the day you want as many people to play the game as possible
I hate his take of “sojourn doesn’t dominate low ranks” he doesn’t know, he genuinely doesn’t know, I had to climb from bronze 5 all the way to plat (which generally isn’t hard if you start at the start of a season but I waited till the last week or so) after everyone had actually placed so I was playing with actual dogshit players and sojourn would dominate every match, the issue is the teammates are garbage in low ranks, so sojourn can be clicking heads all game and still lose.
That’s literally the only reason why blizzard thinks she’s bad in low elo.
7:57 I have had many sombra encounters like that, and I have to say it is annoying, but that only happens in low ranks.
I have NO IDEA where that Twitter sphere got it's data because I have seen consistently, when a team has a sojourn, EVEN A BAD sojourn, they usually win the game by suppression alone

Exceptions to this:
Tracer (Her mobility allows her to get up close)
Genji (His kit allows him to close in on low targets and secure an elimination (as long as they don't have peel or if you're fast enough))
Sombra (Her invisibility allows her to close in on targets without them knowing)
Reaper (Teleport allows him to get up close to rush)
Mei (Her wall can be used to close off poke classes and provide value to the team without eliminating them directly, in other words preventing them from doing damage)
Symmetra (Her teleport and turret bombing capabilities make her super lethal super quick so long the enemy team doesn't discover that she's setting up)
Torbjorn (He doesn't have damage falloff and therefore can challenge lackluster long-range enemies if they don't have worse mechanical skill)
This doesn't mean that these characters counter long-range poke, but they simply are skill dependent matchups and what it REALLY comes down to is awareness and prioritisation
The fact that I am probably worse than all of those players is depressing
The 4/5 chances or whatever isn't true if the enemy even stacks.. like 5-4-3 stacks..

Got dominated by sojourn in my silver matches last night. Was literally headshotting my entire team as soon as we spawned
Once I figured out the difference between healer and support I climbed to masters 5 I feel like if people figure out the difference they will climb dramatically as well.
I started playing bap and instead of constantly spamming heals I fought more and helped against duels “SUPPORTING THEM” if you may
Support is literally enabling your teammates to do stuff
But when you’re a healer are you really enabling your teammates if you only heal them?
Your 10k healing doesn’t mean squat if you have 100dmg and Kiriko.
Your 36 elims doesn’t mean squat if you only succ 2 hp targets with your 3k heals that are mainly self heals.
However though there was a game where my team had to rely on a dps moira Our moira won any duel and had managed to get more damage and elims than our actual dps.
Moral of the story is:
If you hear someone say “Our healers aren’t healing” take a couple notes
1 They labeled you as a healer.
2 What comp is the enemy running
Heals can’t do anything against heroes that can one shot people
3 “Tell them no amount of healing can save how bad you are”
Support them in their fights by doing dps and healing.

High ranked players play this game the most, but we‘re balancing the roster for people who play the game like once a week
Glad to see even 5 years later, genji players are still viewed as one moral rung above serial killers by silver supports eternally enraged that a genji in their game had the audacity to use the call for heal button when they were slightly outside of their heal range and died.
That bap might be his 2nd time PLAYING BAP. can't confirm just a guess.
