Two years later, and the season two finale of The Mandalorian remains such a roller coaster of emotions. I vividly remember the joy of seeing Luke Skywalker in his prime. The heartbreak of Mando and Grogu having to say goodbye, complete with Mando having a “Let me... look on you with my OWN eyes.” moment. And then the excitement of learning that Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen were going to star as Boba Fett and Fennec Shand in their own show. God, the whole thing was exhilarating.

The crazy thing is that to me that the sequel trilogy seemed to be an attempt to leave the original trilogy behind and subverting expectations of what Star Wars should be that I didn't believe for a second Luke would appear until the episode aired - even with all the rumors swirling around. Then I started to get hopeful when I saw the X-Wing... then the cloaked figure leaving the X-Wing... then the black and white image of a Jedi. When the scene went to color, I screamed "green lightsaber" and I started crying like a baby. This is what I wanted to see since 1983. Then Mando looking at Grogu "with his own eyes" as you pointed out made the tears well up again but I held them back... Until R2 showed up.

do ya'll remember that the clones were modified to mature faster, which gave them a shorter lifespan? Boba was an exact clone without modification. At Boba's age, any remaining clones should have died of old age. right?

Cassie by the time the X Wing was coming into the screen tears were shed. Some fans thought that Luke showing up were just one of many rumors. But for some of us this was what we were waiting our entire lives for.... There is a strong father/son connection with Grogu and Mando

It's mostly a side story about Boba Fett on Tatooine, but it does intersect pretty strongly with Mando's story and sets up some important stuff for season 3. Also - I actually think you will like it because I know you're not quite as into the whole 'characters being rough badasses', and Boba actually does go through some interesting development in this episode. There are definitely some cheesy parts, but I thought it was a lot of fun overall.

Agreed. The biggest red flag in the serie is the biker gang which are an obvious sign of a soulless corporate beings injecting their greedy tentacles into it to create something they think is "hip" and will sell the toys BUT overall Boba isn't as bad as some say. It is not very good either but there are few gem episodes and overall the story is mandatory to watch if you want to see S3 Mando.

The Believer is one of my favorite episodes which says a lot considering how much I adore Grogu and it’s the one episode he’s not in. Amazing acting both by Pedro Pascal and Bill Burr. You could see how uncomfortable and ashamed Din felt without his helmet and the PTSD written all over Mayfeld’s face.
The finale was amazing. I remember just watching TH-cam reactions for days just to see everyone’s reaction on Luke and Din saying goodbye to Grogu. I for one cried like a baby.

The moment the X-Wing arrived our hopes jumped and then when we saw the green light saber, it was like, "No Way!!!??" I was 7 when I watched Starwars in the theater. As children in my age group, Luke Skywalker was our hero growing up. Because of my lifetime investment in Star Wars, and because it began for me as a child, I was struck with emotion at this episode. Any sadness or disappointment over the child separating from Mando was instantly replaced by unexpected joy. There could not be a more perfect individual to receive Grogu. This final episode was the best Starwars content I have ever seen. A fantastic cast of actors (including the authentic voice of Mark Hamil), and the technology to do a good enough job of making young Luke come back to the screen really put the finishing touches on this masterpiece. I think you had to grow up with Starwars to feel the full gravity of this episode.

And more importantly, the finale is some of the best Star Wars ever to stars war. One of the few times we’ve been able to see the power of a true Jedi grandmaster in their prime, putting but a fraction of their power on display. Followed with Din and Grogu echoing a moment between Luke and Vader, but this time in a much more positive way. “Let me look on you, with my own eyes.”

So, quick note about the Dark Saber:
Mandalorians, regardless of what factions they align themselves with, are a warrior culture down to their core. Whomever wins the Dark Saber in combat is proven to be not only fit to rule but also the most powerful warrior. If the saber is not won in combat, it's considered a curse and a sign of a weak ruler. Bo Katan was hesitant to take it, because she knows the "curse" all too well.
I say check out the Rebels animated series, it'll teach you more about it.

I'm sure they'll summarize at the start of season 3 but there's a lot of The Mandalorian and Grogu in ep 5-7 in The Book of Boba Fett. Like gigantic story beats taking place and they take their time, these aren't rushed plot points. It's either episode 5 or 6 that is just The Mandalorian, no Boba at all.
Watching at least episode 5 and 6 even without full context of the Boba show is probably better than just jumping into season 3 blind. It's not the Boba Fett show for those two, it's The Mandalorian season 2.5.
Was thinking of a way to explain the cult he was raised in, why he can't remove his helmet. Imagine the entire Earth was nuked but a group of fundamentalist Christians somehow survived. Like The Amish or Westborough Baptist. Obviously they'll stick to their faith but also to survive they've probably had to adapt quite a bit.

It's always interesting to me to watch all the reactions to this episode and see where the emotion hits the reactor(s) first. Is it the X-wing? Is it the Jedi Cloak? Is it the green sabre? Is it the black glove? Is it the belt buckle? Is it the force choke? Is it the face reveal? Is it the Mando face reveal to Grogu?
For me, it was the green sabre. Seeing that thing flare into existence and knowing for certain who it was, was an absolutely incredible moment! I grew up reading the expanded universe, so seeing Prime Power Luke wrecking shop and being the badass Jedi he was in the expanded universe was... so emotional for me. The way they slowly revealed piece by piece who he was was absolute master story writing and cinematography. Then getting to share in those emotions with all the various reactors on TH-cam at those moments is... something very special to me that still gets me emotional watching them all over again.

This series saved the Star Wars franchise for most of us that watched Star Wars starting in the beginning. The new movies 7-9 completely destroyed everything we loved, mostly knowing how great of a Jedi Luke had become only to be turned into a whiny baby. This was Luke on the level none of us had ever seen but always wanted. He got his Vader moment when he walked through those Dark Troopers like they weren’t even a challenge. It brought so much happiness to the end of 2020, we have Jon Favreau to thank for a lot of this. Trust me, we all cried at the end as well.

Not only was it a dream come true to see young Jedi Master Luke Skywalker at the peak of his powers after nearly 40 years but the way he's portrayed here is in line with how the character was portrayed in the "expanded universe" (" " to indicate one year it's all considered cannon, one year it's not, one year some of it is, another the previous year isn't but other stuff is... Ladies and Gentlemen, Star Wars!) that we saw in books, comics and video games. In the books from the 90s Luke does study and learn techniques from all sides of the force including some from the dark side. So him force choking/crushing The Dark Trooper like Darth Vader would have done is in line with that.

To everyone who wasn't in the room on Death Star 2.0, all they knew was Skywalker was the guy who walked into the room (in handcuffs) with the Emperor and Vader and walked out carrying Vader. They all knew how scary and powerful those two were so a guy who can dispatch them both is a real problem.

Boba Fett is an unmodified clone of Jango Fett (see Ep 2 - Attack of the Clones), who himself was a Mandalorian foundling like Mando, however Jango was not a part of the Death Watch (the Mandalorian cult that doesn't take off their helmets). So Boba can still use the armour that was DNA chain coded to Jango, but I don't think he is considered a true Mandalorian.
