Happens often with Curve. Toni's voice and the production are so good, it's inevitable. I remember not liking Cuckoo too much when it came out - seemed less extreme and less beautiful than the earlier songs, but I grew to like it.

    • @yckfides5613
      @yckfides5613 6 ปีที่แล้ว +19

Here are some fun facts about the songs:
      - Both were track #7 on their parent albums
      - Both were released as singles
      - Both had a video released
      - The video for each song included a remix version, instead of their original album versions
      - You can't find any video of the songs being performed on stage, only sound recordings
      *edit*
Here's another fun fact I found out about: Both songs were part of MTV2's A to Z playlist marathon; Lush went first and then Curve, as part of letter S.

Saw Curve at Nottingham Rock City (92 or 93) the support band was Swervedriver who basically blew Nottingham away with how loud they played.I remember standing on the dancefloor with a pint in my hand and it actually had a tide in it because the wooden floor was bouncing that much !!! By the time swervedriver had finished I think everyone's ears (mine anyway) were squealing so when Curve came on everyone was really quiet, even Debbie the guitarist came up to the mike and said"You're all a bit fucking quiet aren't you ?" It was a shame, Curve was my favourite band, Toni has got a fantastic voice and an amazing stage presence.I've got to admit I left the gig a bit disappointed and never got the chance to see them again, but if Toni wants to marry me its still a "Yes, of course!!!"

Curve were just so underrated. Love the clever continuity between this video and the previous one for the absolutely storming 'Missing Link' - that was a chaotic mudbath in the rain (funnily pre-empting NIN's mudfest at Woodstock 94) - whereas this one is a cleaner bubble storm in a similarly trashy setting. Smart!

'Superblaster' was a single in both Europe and America - though strangely not in Curve's native UK. The track listing across the 2 releases was different and the European release is now near-impossible to track down (and very expensive if it comes up for sale). I could never understand why it wasn't chosen as a single in the UK.

Unfortunately here in my country no one knows the band and there are no records from them on the stores, I met only 2 guys here who also know them, but the rest of people never heard about, it's sad =\
I tried to like garbage, but I can't, for me their music is too awful, there's only one song from them that I like, it's called Vow, but only this one. Garbage is not that good, but Curve, Curve is pure love ♡

I've been watching a lot of Curve videos these last few days. They're mentioned in this this book I keep in the bathroom, and then there was the LAZOR COLLECTION, and I fell in a hole. The entire time I'm thinking, "Okay, attractive white woman on the mic, generic nineties rock, all the TV soundtracks are full of this shit, and it sounds okay, but they ain't the Pixies, y'know?" And this is just the kind of shallow, bland, guess-you-had-to-be-there impression you could expect from a caucasian, cis-het, Gen X metalhead that pretty much gave up on music after Dimebag was murdered, and flat out buried it after Anselmo kept chucking up nazi salutes, 'cause who needs _that_ shit in their lives, right? I don't.
But the commentors are all gigantic Curve fans, and I hope you don't waste a single heartbeat of your precious COVID-free time hating me for not getting on board. It's not so much that Curve isn't seaworthy, it's more that I can't reach the ladder. Feel free to pity me my philistinery.
The comments are making one thing undeniably clear to me: Curve sound generic to me 'cause the entire nineties radio-friendly rock/TV soundtrack industry saw and heard what Curve were doing and copied it to fucking death and massive profit before Curve themselves popped up on my admittedly limited radar. So they didn't construct the central column on which nineties pop-culture was built and hanged, they drew up the blueprint. That I can respect.
Then again, there are tons of multi-hour jazz collections here on TH-cam, and I've been letting them play in the background on my headphones while I work on my DFBHD mods, a situation which can comfortably be described by the phrase, "What the not-metal _fuck?"_ and I can only conclude that my thoughts and opinions on anything short of .wac file scripting can be safely ignored, but thanks for reading, anyway.

But Pubic Fruit, Doppleganger, Radio Sessions and Cuckoo are all great recordings - I would have loved to hear Cherry with Cukoo's production.
